I own over 450 games on PS12345 consoles. I own 32 games on Steam PC. PS5 Pro has 33.5 teraflop performance. The PC I can afford has about 35 teraflops with Nvidia 4070 super. SO WITH THAT NEWS, WHICH SHOULD I BUY?

A huge catalog on Playstation and you want 4070 esque performance for as cheap as possible?

I would recommend the PS5 Pro then. It will more than suit your needs and you can carry most of your library with you. It will be a great system that's easy to use, great UI, no dealing with all sorts of issues that can arise for PC. I only recommend a PC for people that know what they're getting into and prefer playing on PC over console (love to build, love to tweak, don't mind the hassle factor and non-entertainment TV setup, love to get the highest performance possible, etc), but it doesn't sound like that's the case with you.

Yeah and 24 of those 32 Steam games I already own on PS345. I've always had the most games on PlayStation consoles so it yeah it always makes sense to stay PlayStation.

unless you're set on getting a gaming pc, get the ps5 pro. I was excited to get a gaming pc last year only to find that it was not for me. Between configuration, driver updates, windows updates, tons of tweaking, and getting wrist pain from mouse and keyboard, I ended up regretting that a lot and sold it. Obviously not everyone has a bad experience with gaming pcs like I did but it was just not for me.

I know top end PC beats anything but the Pro is the best deal in gaming at the moment.
700+ is a bit much, but...even I can't downplay how close it gets to a higher-end PC. I've seen many positives about the Pro and the enhancements. However, once you get to actual High End, PC hits hard. Shadows, Clean RT, PT, and so on. at this point I'm regurgitating and getting too buzzed. I respectfully bow from the topic and probably the forum, for the night. I might as well jump on Metaphor and get drunk off my ass!
Day off tomorrow!

Stop fucking exaggerating

Driver updates are whatever. Maybe 2 or 3 clicks? Most of them are done automatically

Windows updates automatically when you restart/boot your machine. SUCH A HASSLE OMG

Tons of tweaking my fucking ass

Such terrible reasoning

Same experience now that you've reminded me of that. I bought a gaming PC earlier this year, I set up Windows 11, I set up steam, sign in, verify with email code for steam, install every game, now I gotta adjust the settings for every game, how high of graphics, shadow detail, anti-aliasing, do I want it slightly lower for better frame rate, ugh! Overall it was more of a pain than anything as with a console it's just easier, buy game digital or physical, wait for downloading to finish, play game, game says do you want better frame rate or better graphics. Consoles, just easier. Thanks for reminding me about the past I had with PCs, reminds me of how much I hate them.

He said in his post that playing with a mouse and keyboard is hard when there are a lot of controllers that can be used on PC

These threads are always the worst threads on here. They are retarded. You are guaranteed to get the following replies every time:

"PC won't get <SONY TECHNOLOGY X THAT IS OUTDATED/UNNECESSARY/OVERHYPED> so stick with consoles!"

"I tried PC gaming and <DRIVERS/WINDOWS UPDATES/THINGS MAGICALLY NOT WORKING> happened! Stick with consoles!"

"Comfy couch!"

"I have three billion games on <CONSOLE X>!"

Then, you get PC users wasting their time/lives by engaging with any of these arguments. Yes, if you seriously think 'drivers' are an issue in 2024, you are an idiot. It doesn't need to be pointed out.

A lot of games that I have on Steam either don't allow controller at all or the menus require keyboard and mouse and only in game can I use the controller. So yeah reminds me how I hate PC for those reasons. Thanks for reminding me.

I don't have that issue 👀

But I reccomand to just get the PS5 Pro. Since you are more comfortable with that

PC should be a no brainer. If you like to replay older games, every single one of them will be a drastically better experience on PC. Every time you upgrade your PC, your entire library improves graphically.

With emulation and mods you have unlimited content, even for games you've already played. There are entire fan man n64 zelda games out there, for example.

You can buy premium shaders in reshade, such as ray traced global illumination, and add it to any game you have, including emulation.

If you like HDR, HDR is completely configurable with the right tools and you can retroactively add HDR to games that never supported it.

If you can afford it and don't have a specific preference for consoles, get the PC. Just because you have more control there, you can lower settings and play at 120 or crank things up to the extreme and play at 30. You have access to all the storefronts, including the key sites, etc. If you play paid games online the Plus subscription will erode any savings, etc. If you really just like the simplicity of a console, stick with that.

On the flip side, the console IO has its advantages and the PSSR or whatever they are calling it looks legit in what has been shown.

This is not a bad point, though.
Which is why I'd say, OP, go for PS5 Pro. You will be able to enjoy your previous PS4 games that way, without having to buy them again.

You are assuming he doesn’t already own a PS4. With that, PC may be better since it will allow him to also play games from outside that ecosystem, and he can still expand things like RAM and SSD down the road for fairly cheap.

Now, if OP is going to cheap out on CPU, RAM and storage, then the PS5 Pro is better with a Series S as a GamePass machine.

PC can offer better experience, and versatility, but you want to be willing to spend time tweaking when things don't work.

You should wait till PS5 Pro comes out, see the real enhancements and whether there are new Sony first party title announcements that you don't want to wait to play.

PS4 games are greatly enhanced via "Boost Mode BC" on PS5 Pro, so it does not make any sense for him to restart his entire collection and ecosystem. If he has a PS4, those games play far worse on PS4 than a PS5 Pro.

The folks so gung ho on PC aren't being rational at all here. If he didn't have a collection, if he had more money to spend, if he enjoyed the PC experience with building/tweaking and sitting at a desk with a keyboard and mouse, by all means PC is probably for you. In his situation, it makes no sense whatsoever to go with a PC for his personal tastes. But to the PCMR zealots, there's no answer other than PC.

What are you playing those 32 steam games in at the moment? Got a laptop or something?
I have played some of them on Parallels on Mac. Mac is not great for gaming as most games get bad low frame rate even having the games set on 1440p. So I play most games at 1080p. But overall I don't really use parallels Windows 11 that much anyway and like I said almost all the games I already own on PS3 4 and 5.

I understand the emulation part, although even that is what i don’t do on my pc. Reshade is a hit or miss and i only used it for virtual photography, but in general i don’t want to fuck around a lot with games on pc other then some mods on steam itself.

The HDR part is pure nonsense. Consoles have HDR out of the box and HDR on pc is the worst so i don’t understand why someone wants to use that as argument? HDR on pc doesn’t come close to what the PS5 can offer. The PS5 can even do HDR on none supported games.

If you want a system that is forward compatible, backward compatible, self upgradeable, the least walled off ecosystem, use any controller, etc, well, Even an idiot could make the proper choice here.
Go for PS5 Pro! You Already have a lot of games on console compare to 32 steam games.
RyanEvans21 you see he made a point and you made a counter point. Touche! Oh and thanks for mentioning more truth to the matter. I own PS1 PS2 PS3 PS4, PS5, over 450 games across those consoles. While on Steam I only own 32. What so ahtlas7 I buy a PC and than buy the same games I already have and thus waste my money? I don't think so. Why buy a PC when I already own the most games on PlayStation consoles?
