You know what? I'd like to request my avatar be made more fitting, if someone would be so kind. Needs more color, don't you think?

I've been surprised in more than one way so far. I am seeing far more sneaky "anti-gay" messages on my feed than outright anti-gay ones, most likely to avoid criticism. People on my facebook feed seem to just be sharing different links to "news stories" talking about how Pedophiles are now looking to get marriage and talk of slippery slope bullshit. Of course with none of it sourced and all clickbait websites covered in ads. Then people on facebook are taking it as 100% fact and are now all gossiping about it in he comments. Are people really this dumb? Do they not see how it's clearly someone with an agenda ranting and clearly not sourced at all? Do they not see the difference between two adults consenting and an adult and a child, or an adult and an animal?

On my phone, but one of the posts was talking about how all gay people are pedophiles because they have sexual attractions at a young age. It has like 8 likes and people are all agreeing with him in comments. That is literally the stupidest argument I've ever heard, and applies to straight people too. I've already unfriended them all (since they were only high school friends) but I'm actually surprised at people my age holding these opinions.

Fuck this world.

You know I never really got the connection since most pedophiles are straight.
Then again, people are known to make up facts to push their agenda.

"It will take small acts of sabotage. Catholic hackers can log into state vital statistics registries and erase records of same-sex "marriages." Catholic county clerks can do the same, or simply "lose" licenses. We can harass or sabotage places where same-sex "marriages" are to be held. When the enemy is strong and we are weak, we must use our strengths against the enemies weaknesses. So buck up."

All we need are some homophobic hackers to hack into every single page on the web that references the marriage equality decision. Gays will forget about the possibility of getting married because there's no evidence for on the internet and marriage will be sacred again.

Good luck with that. I have a framed certificate of my marriage along with several pics of us picking up the cert AND us signing the cert.

Try me Catholics. Hell hath no fury like a man who's told he's not married anymore to the love of his life.

First Mormon hackers now this!

I don't think the Roe comparisons work here, long term. Abortion is a contentious issue, and understandably so. Many people's views on the issue shift over time, especially after they have children. I'm pro-choice but understand why someone might look at an ultrasound and become pro-life.

Whereas there's nothing about gay marriage that could lead to a similar or comparable shift. Two dudes getting married has no impact on anything, nor is it a "moral" issue outside of on the religious front, whereas abortion will always be fought on morality lines, with or without religious views added in.

I could forsee a scenario where one day economic and moral (crime) conditions are so bad that more people begin accepting religion, and looking for a scapegoat to explain the country's decline; Russia, basically. That type of environment could definitely lead to backlash against gay people...but that's a pretty drastic scenario. Under normal circumstances I expect people to simply move on. The far right will always be mad but as last week proved...they're a minority, and growing smaller daily.

If only we could harness that to generate energy. We could have our own perpetual motion machine powered by hate!!

Oh man. Someone with lots of money please set up a big crank hooked up to a large generator in the South, without anyone knowing with a sign "crank against homos!", then alert the media. Just watching people crank would be worth it, but getting some energy out of it would be the salt on the cake.

For people charitably rainbowfying up people's avatars, there's been several requests on the past few pages.

Also, I can't even begin to understand this.

Is this person trying to make up a new rationale for denying marriage? As in "technically, you're not the 'same sex' because he's a 'B' and you're a 'G', so you can't get married"?

Someone should point out to him that marriages between people of different sexes was already legal.
