Gears of War armor, what are the round nipple plates for?

I've been playing Gears of War Tactics for the last couple days, and one constant seems to be the nipple plates on the human armor. I haven't played the actual series except for a little bit of 1 and 5, so maybe this was explained somewhere, but what are the round nipple protectors for on the various human armors? Do they serve a story purpose beyond aesthetics? They look goofy as hell and I'm just wondering if they're just moob armor or what.

The same reason men have nipples: On their own they are useless except to allow morphologycal symmetrie with women breasts. There is probably a good reason how it's coded into DNA too.

I've seen my fair share of exposed nipples and they don't make them in that size. Ever.

Those are for breast protection, generally. And there is no amount of protection for those that I would contests or consider "overkill."

They were originally only for the women suits, but then the Cogs were forced to add them to men’s suits for equality. Didn’t you see the video where the LBASDFGQ called out the government that men (or people that identify as men) believed their nipples and chest were just as important as a woman’s.

Easy, abysmal art-direction...
Sure, some monsters are OK looking but other than that everything is "Chad edgy 'Murrican design".

Absolutely abhorrent art-direction.

Coalition Armor or Plates[1][2][3] were multiple types of body armor that was worn by Gear soldiers of the Coalition of Ordered Governments. A common feature between all the types of armor is that they are made up of a chest plate which is held together by two "seals", which resemble two large circles over the chest area. There are also identification lights that are on certain areas of the armor and power pack.[4]

What are nipple/abs/boob/pectoral plates for on any armor?
Its purely an artistic choice.

Just to make the armor visually distinct to other armors.
Literally anytime I see someone even concept art something similar I immediately think of Gears of War.
So the Art Director got it right.

The question isn't "why are the nipples covered" it's "why are they shaped like huge nipples?"

Jokes aside, I'd be thinking some sort of ablative armor like on tanks, where if it takes a hard enough impact it blows out to mitigate the force

A human would be well dead anyways, but Sera humans don't seem like us humans

Stereo speakers.

To fight and die with class.

General have 2 more in the back, for surround class death.

More, seriously, could be just reinforced area since lot of vitals organs are under this hood.

In traditional armour "rondels" or round plates were attached to armour to cover weak spots such as armpits. Game armour and weapons are often useless "aesthetic" crap with no thought for practicality.
