Man, the "defend the monolith" part of the fungi quest sucks. Sure am glad they noticed I was having too much fun and had to put a shit mode in there, just for good measure. Should have been an escort quests that I have to use fungi for too, while they're at it.

Just ignore their advice.

They told me to focus on the abyss mage. I finished with 13% remaining. Retried and did the opposite. 74% remaining.

Have geo shroom stomp every once in awhile to throw them all off.

Been playing Genshin bit by bit in my little nephew account since a week to try to improve and optimise bit his account so he can enjoy the game better.

Was just trying to get him Bennet and ... Nahida dropped at 55 pity

Uncle, Uncle, now get me Scaramouche and Alhaitham too.

Why they keep insisting in those defend missions is beyond me. Re-using this challenges to every single mission or event is lazy as fuck.
And it's not me having a thing against the Fungi battles, they are very interesting to say the least. It's basically a gods jump compared to the re-skin of finding stuff in Sumeru with a warning "please, equip the item".

Contrary to what you should think, focus on the smaller ones first. And suck them all (

) with an anemo fungi. I'm using water/appropriate DPS/dendro/anemo and they work really well together.

...or use the harpastum ball bug.

Bruh, that's my favourite event.

The "defend the Monolith" part of the Fungi event is way faster than the 3 rounds of fighting, so I appreciate that. I've generally avoided using the targeting function unless there's an enemy with a special buff, like that pyro whopper flower.

For both types, I just bring the electro buffer + anemo cc + 2 flex attackers (dependent on enemy elements). This seems to work well so far.

Also agreed on Layla: just a total miss in terms of design, kit, and personality. We already had the sleepy character trope with Sayu, so it's not a good sign they're already doubling up on fringy, one note character types already.

So Scara's playstile revolves around charged attacks?

Oh wow. Easy skip.

I would say for Faruzan as well because her kit is around full charged anemo attack.

The old anemo set is already perfect for Scara.

Bloom artifact got nerfed. Thanks Nahida.

It's not a matter of sets. I played Yanfei for a while for friendship builidng and I bloody hate her playstyle, I will NEVER play anything that revolves around charged attacks and stamina usage.
That is, IF Scara is based on charged attacks like it seems from that set. I never pay any attention at their skill leaks, I just watch the animations.

Scara is catalyst, I guess in the end all catalyst get a little of charged attack focused style.

Nahida doesn't
cikYa.gif

Thats explain why she sell so well.

Yae's charge attack is the worst part of her kit.

Part of this is because nobody want to fuck waste stamina, not to mention the charged animation is terrible for dogde.

I ask someone to use charged attack on that drain stamina cryo domain.

I have Klee and never waste a single time doing charged attack. Just basic attacks and elemental skill all day.

As I said before, I would guess the first concept of all Catalyst was similar to the bow users, to use charged attack, but MYH have some kinda of collecting data tool inside the game telling nobody give a shit about this part, so they stop doing.

You know, I wonder if this "pet" type gameplay with the fungi is just a big beta test for Lyney and Lynette, the puppet and puppeteer from Fontaine...

There's zero chance they'll be released like that. As for gameplay, maybe W will switch between them? Or one will be the "pet" of the other? Definitely interesting to see what they'll do.

I don't mean as stupid as the current fungi are, but they're clearly messing around with NPCs fighting alongside us in battle. First Rana, then the Jeht and her dad, etc. When I meant as a big beta, I meant mostly to get any AI bugs out of the way, not that we will target an enemy, and the puppet will meander over to them and attack once every 10 seconds. I know it's comparing apples to oranges, but I really liked the way both Blazblue and Final Fantasy XI handled puppet classes. Obviously Genshin is going to be extremely dumbed down compared to both of those, and they're different genres entirely, but there's room to do a pet class well if they put the effort in.

It's not like its different from the rest of charge attackers.
Not saying I disagree with you, but this game has a serious problem with CA. Yanfei can be interrupted by anything, canceling her charge attack entirelly(even if her animation is already out). That also includes her elemental skill.

I played this game way back at launch but dropped it. Dunno if much changed in the beginning areas (mostly Mondstadt) or my current characters are just more fun but I'm enjoying it much more this time around. I remember having caster/archer heavy pulls the first time and I've never been big on that playstyle in most games.

Yea the game has changed quite a bit since launch. You missed a lot of missteps and a lot more improvements, but the overall quality of events and story has gotten much better since 3.0.

There's many more varieties of characters and gameplay styles now too, but ironically some of the strongest supports are still the 4*s available at launch. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the thread.

By the way, I finally figured out how the Scara boss is supposed to go, after a few weeks of fumbling through it. I guess I could have just looked up a guide, but it's super quick and easier than Shogun once you know what to do.

  • First phase just dodge shit and attack, you can do something with the icons on the floor but this phase is easy to just outdamage and move on
  • Big Guy Mode - dodge attacks while collecting the energy nodes on the floor, which you can also grapple to, in order to avoid attacks. Also you can bust up the little circle things he drops on the ground to get more energy.
  • When your akasha 2.0 icon lights up, press the button to change your elemental skill into Big Boi Mode that shoots a huge Dendro nut at Scara (manual aim). This will bring down his white overshield.
  • After it gets depleted, he goes into Nuke Prep mode, break the big devices he drops down with elemental damage (sorry Eula). When you break them you get more energy nodes. Hurry and shoot him before the meteor hits and 1KHO's all on-field characters
  • This puts him into a weakened state where he will kneel and take extra damage.
  • *new* - the part I was missing before - when he's kneeling, there's a platform and 2 grapple points that appear that let you glide up to the platform in front of his chest. If you attack his Electro symbol from there, it does like 10x damage, and you can pretty much 1-round him with any competent damage carry. My Yoimiya was doing 125k normals on his chesticle.

All events are a beta test for new permanent mechanics.

Summer 1 - boat

That temporary underground area with the box- crystal in chasm.

Event where you froze time to find weak points - Nahida skill.

Summer 2 - interacting with objects to change the map. - Sumeru forest

Etc, etc.

IIRC this is actually explained when you meet him in the story.
(With those pointless quick disappearing messages while you run around avoiding stuff, though - again, IIRC)

*thumbs up

Aside from the pity mechanic, which made sense after seeing a handy graphic, I've accepted that it's not necessary to worry about meta gaming and instead go with the flow and enjoy.

That said, I do wonder about one thing: XP.

I've got one team almost capped at 50 (today's resin use should get my last one ascended to take to 50). I'm very obviously gated by AR and to a lesser extent world level so I'm thinking of working on a second team with character mechanics I need for puzzles, movement and such. Are xp books common enough for me to burn this early or is there a sharp increase in xp required that I'd be better served saving a lot of books for the inevitable ascension of my main party.

Don't think I'm going to pull anymore for a while as my next 5* is guaranteed banner and the upcoming doesn't really interest me. So my teams are static for a good bit.

I don't think anybody is reading that stuff during the first fight, at least I wasn't. I was more concerned with what he was actually doing on screen.

The Itto/Shinobu/Xiao/Yanfei event is I think what he meant, but that happened after the Chasm released, so idk.

You probably have unlocked them already, but XP books are infinitely grindable with this game's Stamina resource called "resin". You can see how much of it you have by looking in the top right corner of the world map. You find the icons that look like blue clouds for XP books, and gold clouds for Mora (normal gold currency). The drops get better the higher your world level is. You can also go to the alchemy stand in towns and convert 40 "fluid" resin into Condensed resin (can store up to 5 of them) so that you get double drops from the leylines. It equals out to the same number of drops, but it's more time effective so you have to grind individually less. But yea, use the books as soon as you get them, you can farm them at any time. It's also a good idea to have at least 2 full capable teams worth of characters for various contents, but the game has been pretty good with giving you access to Trial characters in case you don't have enough to fill out your teams on your own.

Very good plan for F2P. Plus you will be gated on ascension materials for most newer characters until you progress quite a bit in the story.

She's never around for the character hangouts either. Thought that was really awkward too. Where does she go in those?
Whichever pocket dimension she disappears into to amass power to eventually turn on us and try to kill us.

Don't listen to him, HOARD.
Here are the xp/Mora totals to get from 1-90. (Mora is the last column). So whether you use them now or later, you're going to need to farm them at some point. Might as well make your characters' reactions as strong as possible in the meantime.

Enkanomiya event with the light box and lizard person. Couldn't think of the name at the time.

The Chasm event used the stage flipping mechanics that were used later too.

Anyone using Dori?
Kind of. I think she's hilarious so I want to make her work. Gave her a temporary Noblesse set and Sac Greatsword, leveled to 70 with talents at 6. Kuki's probably stronger because of the constant healing and Electro application, but I like Dori's range and how she doesn't kill herself. Feels a bit comfier in my current team to not have to constantly swap back and waste field time on the healer. I mostly rely on Shogun's skill anyway to apply Electro.

I tried like hell but after she hit Friendship 10, she went into the trash pile until I get her to C6 or a character/weapon/artfact makes her more usable. Everything about her felt undertuned (at C0 at least)

I thought it was her burst that gave her Infusion at C6, but it turns out it's her elemental skill, and the infusion lasts for 3 seconds. So...like...why did they even bother? That's what, 2-3 swings of the sword? And right after you use a ranged attack so you likely won't be in range before it wears off. I dunno, she probably has one of the worst kits since Xinyan.

Also, trying to path yourself to put enemies between you and the lamp without going out of range was an absolute exercise in futility and incredibly not worth the hassle when you have Shinobu available for the same role.

I really like and enjoy Xiao more than i though, been playing him in Nephew account and he's quite fun. The icing in the cake is i already have Jade from Perma banner. I think i should really consider getting him next time he rerun.

Xiao is pretty good. I already max out his talents. Both combat and exploration.

His only problem are his cons. Besides C1 and C6, all are mix bag.

edit: Feel free to ask builds.

I don't care about Constellations tbh. More 5* characters cons can even make the game less fun tbh, so i rather avoid this as much as i can.

All my main 5* chars don't have cons, in the other hand my Keking lvl 1 and my Jean lvl 1 have 3 cons believe or not.
