Hw was a good man. He publicly denounced the racist wing of his party and helped the opposition campaign against it while President.

He also knew how to take a joke at his own expense. snl was pretty hard on him and he took it stride and even made an appearance.

I only posted that gif because shoe throwing was mentioned. The classroom thing was the wrong people to harp on. WTF was he going to do in front of a classroom of children? He did the right thing in not panicking and trying to act normal in front of the kids. What he did after was what people should harp on.

W doesn't seem like a genuinely terrible person. He was just a genuinely terrible president.

Anyway, hoping HW and Barb get better.

Honestly the country would've been better off today had HW beat Reagan in 1980, at the very least we might've avoided the "Voodoo economics" as Bush called Reagan's economic plan that has been fucking us over since and maybe fought off the rise of power of the right at least for a while longer. Bush lacked Reagan's charisma though if Democrats still had Mondale as their guy Bush probably would've won anyway since I doubt the Democrats that voted for Reagan would've gone with Mondale.
