Where's Fight Club?
It's on the list though. In the top 100. lol
We live in a world where Joss Whedon is the most bankable director going right now, so I guess anything's possible.![]()
At least it isn't number 1. There was some fan poll on a magazine last year or something that had Serenity as the greatest science fiction film of all time.

Heck, even stuff like Transformers (Bay), Revenge of the Sith, Skyfall (at number 45, might I add), Star Trek Into Darkness, and The Hunger Games made the list .
Its name is Star WarsA New Hope is a better movie though.
You son-of-a-bitchEveryone loves Shawshank. The only person I've ever met who doesn't like Shawshank is my brother. And he's an ass hole.(he posts on GAF and is probably reading this. Fuck you for not liking such a great movie)

You're right, but I'm just assuming that his next one's going to make another 1bil+ just because it exists, so for this weird moment in time Whedon is king.He has only made one bankable movie. I would say Michael Bay is more bankable. And Nolan.
Everyone loves Shawshank.

1: Empire Strikes Back
2: The Godfather
3: The Dark Knight
4: The Shawshank Redemption
5: Pulp Fiction
...
huh
I give Lucas little to no credit for TESB. He wrote the story, but the rest was everyone else.
Driected by:- Irvin Kershner
Written by:- Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan
Story by:- George Lucas.
"I never really planned it to be three separate films but when it became three separate films, it had an interesting effect of each film having its own personality, caused by the plot."
It's good but... Better than the Godfather?
More like a quarter of a million nerds with a very limited taste in films.
This has got to be the worst top 5 list of all time.1: Empire Strikes Back
2: The Godfather
3: The Dark Knight
4: The Shawshank Redemption
5: Pulp Fiction
...
huh
This easily fit my top 5, sure. Maybe fit some Rocky in there and an honorable mention to Scarface and the list would seem to fit my sensibilities.
This is the kind of best-of list for guys I knew in college with the super-sized bong and the blacklight Scarface poster. Where's Fight Club?
that movie falls apart towards the end during the sonar and the boats
It was planned to be one movie but the story became too big so instead of getting rid of a lot of stuff he decided to make it into 3.Make Up Your mind George, i thought it was always 3 films?
And then he had outlines for 12 or so Mark Hamill has said that he told him at one point. (Maybe im wrong on the trilogy thing though?)

I can watch the intro and the babtism over and over again, without getting tired. The Godfather is weird for me. It's an excellent movie and one of the best ever, but after seeing it once I never want to see it again.
TDK wasn't a comic book film. It was a crime drama/thriller that happened to use a comic character (that didn't have any powers).
That's even worse, as it's a fucking disgraceful attempt at a crime/drama thriller
it sure as fuck ain't no Heat

As the good the bad and the ugly ain't in the top ten here, I can easily say that this list blows ass.
Minus 2001, I'd say Empire belongs exactly alongside those type of films. It's a better film than Fight Club and The Fountain.ESB is my favorite movie that I wouldn't actually put on a critical "best movies" list. I'm a huge SW fan, but its mostly just dumb fun, its not on the same level as films like 2001, The Fountain, Fight Club, Memento, etc.
Batman sequel The Dark Knight, starring Heath Ledger, came in third, with The Shawshank Redemption and Pulp Fiction rounding off the top five.
I don't even dislike most of these films, but to put them on an "all times top 10" is laughable. The rest of the 10 are:
6. Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
7. The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring
8. Jaws
9. Raiders Of The Lost Ark
10. Inception
I don't find even pulp Fiction particularly out of place, personally, but that said this is essentially a list of (mostly) good entertaining movies to spend an evening with friends, hardly stuff that deserves to be mentioned as "all times bests".The Godfather and Jaws are the only 2 in the top 10 that deserve to be anywhere near the top 10.
No sir, they do not. It's a twee, boring, b-grade movie that has been elevated to classic status for reasons I've never quite been able to fathom.
A New Hope is a better movie though.

At its release maybe you wouldn't hear that sentiment as much as you do now, but I think tolerance for a really deliberately paced movie that doesn't pander to the audience is really growing smaller and smaller each year. Then again, the only people I've really heard say that 2001's unwatchable are college kids, maybe kids were unimpressed back then, too.

Lol. Still isn't 3rd best movie of all time. That's just fucking ridiculous.
Godfather II is better than Godfather I
fixed
How many people in this thread currently have me on ignore.
