Getting ready for next gen? New Tv? Savings done?

That’s it!
I see many post recently about how hard this year is gonna be with PS5, Cyberpunk, The last of us and others.

So, Did you prepare for next gen?

I start Saving money for the PS5 the same time I bought PS4 release day, 7 years ago lol.
Maximum I would pay Is 700-800 us including games plus tax.

I also save for an OLED 65 4K HDR tv. But I will wait on that to see what’s the ps5 is really capable of.

I would like to get new sound system that work with the PS5 3D sound, but that’s not clear and no money for it.

Finally, PS5 + 2 control + 3 games (must be PS5 exclusive, I will skip cross plat or cross gen games) And the TV.
If there’s no PS5 game... sad.

No Xbox for me this time.

No new TV and probably no new console for like 3 or 5 years for me. I live in Brazil and consoles here usually cost (in dollars) twice their US price. And the dollar here is worth 5.45 Brazilian Real. So yeah. We're fucked.

Let's say it's $499. So here basically $999. That's R$ 5,444. That's 5 minimum wages here. Insanity.

Started stacking EB games trade in credit last year. Just hoping they don’t go belly up before release!

I’m pretty happy with my tv, though I have been contemplating upgrading to a C9.

Ive got money set aside for PS5 and XSX, and also some for an eventual 3080 GPU.

I have a new MOBO and RAM already, just waiting to decide which CPU I wanna go with. Will probably have it sorted out by mid-July. I’m just gonna keep the SATA SSDs I’m currently using for awhile and upgrade to an M.2 SSD whenever one comes out that is

I think next-gen is gonna be great.

I’m anxious about the PC upgrade as the last two time I assembled my rig, I had a roommate guiding me along the way. It’s been 6 years since, and I’m flying solo now. Been watching YT vids and reading the mobo manual. Hopefully I don’t fuck up.

Yeah, we're screwed beyond belief.

I wish I lived in a first world country, or that I was rich. Having a shitty wage doesn't help.

I'm probably more likely to buy some nice headphones before anything else. I want to let the dust settle between the consoles and GPU iterations this year.

You fucks talked me into an OLED TV, plus a PS5 (already planned on). Even if the release games are sparse, I'm still playing PS4 games that will (hopefully) be played on the PS5 at better (at least not worse) performance. Debating on skipping TLOU2 and waiting for a PS5 patch, idk, what's the likelihood of a release patch ya think!?!?

Definitely will upgrade from my plasma to an OLED for the new systems, but I'm going to wait to actually purchase the systems/TV until I see a game worthy enough to jump in and spend all that cash. I'm ready to go all out this year, but if I don't see the games that warrant the purchase, I'm going to hold back. I was planning to go with the XsX, but I'm open to go for a PS5 if they already have a launch title custom-built for it that can show off its tech like the Unreal Engine 5 did and has good gameplay along with it. Looking to spend 2 Gs I guess, but hopefully, there will be good deals on black Friday.

I'm not getting a new TV until my 46" 1080p Sharp shits out on me. 4k doesn't impress me all that much, I'd rather see 60 fps.

I'm saving for either the 3080 or 3080 ti depending on pricing. :) That and saving for for my Alaskan vacation too

Already bought my new headset and elite 2 controller with having set aside cash for a new TV and XSX so far (will buy telly and console together when XSX drops). I'll wait and see what I think of the PS5 games first but will probably wait 1-2 years before I get a PS5. My PC doesn't see much gaming and I'll just stick with my NVMe, 2700X and 2070RTX for this year at least. My son keeps hounding me to buy the new TV already, he's getting my current X1X and TV to replace his OG Xbox One/older TV; modern day hand me downs are real.

Upgraded from a 50" LG 1080p 3D TV to an 85" Sony X900F (it already feels small lol)

The rest of my audio system was already quite good so just waiting on PS5 preorders

COVID helped me put a hefty fun budget aside so I’m going to use to it buy up and flip preorders to hopefully help me make a bunch of extra money this holiday.

Got my personal TVs and situations already set.

Got two children to pay for, so saving up for a console AND a new TV would be a bit steep...
But anyway, I am saving.

And that money will either go to a couple of days of having an amazing time in barcelona and its surrounding beaches on the Costa Brava, or if COVID won't allow that, an XSEX.

Hell no. I'm not done yet with my PS4 slim. I'll wait a few years until the next gen settles itself and if there's a game I really need to play on these systems. This gen it was The Witcher 3 that was the must play game for me.

I will also be waiting, at least a few of years - I am completely satisfied with my C7 OLED at the moment.
HDMI 2.1 sounds good, but not sure of how many games would utilize 4k 120hz to its max, or any contents using that.
I will decided if I want to plunge the money when 2.1 becomes mainstream.

As per the consoles - yes, Day 1 for the XSX (mostly for BC and future 3rd party non-exclusive games), and PS5 as soon as a game of my interest get released.

I'm considering picking an OLED screen to already make that next step, because I want my new tv to last 10 years+. 55" would be the optimal size for my room (LG B8 maybe?), don't need a big ass tv.

Fyi I currently have an 1080p Panasonic tv and don't really want to get rid of it as it is still working flawlessly.

I'll be sticking with the PS4 for a while. It'll take something truly special like a big budget X-Men game or the return of the Suikoden series to get me to move to the next gen.

I am in process of upgrading my PC but I am not in a rush. Only game I am waiting is elder ring and I think my pc will be able to handle it at 1080p 60fps.

I’d like a 3080/3080ti and OLED monitor, PS5 and I’m undecided on what kind of TV or projector to buy. But I’m not going to set anything into stone until the economic shit due to covid dies down

I’m fighting the urge at this very moment not to grab an OLED for the bedroom right now. There is nothing ‘wrong’ with my current bedroom tv, I just love my KS8000 so much and would love to have a 4K/HDR set in the bedroom too and since it’s fairly dark in there I figure an OLED would be fantastic!

I’ll say I won’t buy a PS5 right at launch but I’m only lying to myself. Right along with waiting to play CP77 and TLOU2 on PS5 first heh.

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
Just finishing off some games that are still only available on Xbox platforms so I can sell my X1X off to put towards a PS5. I'd be doing the same for PS3/4 but by the sounds of things this new box still won't play everything I've already bought, so Sony are fisting me once again and I'll take it.

I buy systems to play games and have seen no games for these next gen systems. I think I'm done being an early adopter of systems.

Even though I an lucky enough to be in a position where I can afford to buy these consoles without any issues, I don't see the value in doing so.

I bought an XB1 and PS4 in 2013 and with the exception of a few games (Titanfall, FF7 Remake, Sunset Overdrive, Cuphead, Sonic Mania) have barely touched them.

Unless a launch title as impactful as Mario 64, Halo CE, or Mario World comes out with one of these (I doubt it), I will wait 3-4 years.

Keeping the tv I have. I think I'm going to sell the PS4 and Xbox and build a PC. I've become disinterested in Triple A games more and more as the generation has progressed.

Yeah with more and more games coming to PC that were previously only on consoles, I'll be sticking with my gaming PC for the foreseeable future, might pick up a PS5 after the crossgen phase. (usually 2-3 years in)

I have a Panasonic vt25. The movement and motion is still superior to oled and leds. Resolution not as high but god damn boxing looks great on it.

I'm currently on the verge of ordering a new sound system. I've had Logitech speakers for last 10 years and this will be my first proper AV surround sound system currently using z906.

The only thing holding me of right now is if I should go for all floor standing speakers or mix or just bookshelf speakers.

I built a gaming pc last year, so i'm skipping the next gen consoles at least until the first price drops

My wife and I both make decent money and aren't having kids so the savings is always there for things like consoles. That said, I'm still on a 1080p TV (and receiver) so I should probably upgrade that first. I'm not too keen on buying a PS5 day one after how barren the PS4 and Xbox 1 were for me in terms of next gen exclusives I enjoyed the first year to year and a half. Maybe if something like Horizon 2 is there day one I'll be tempted. But otherwise I may try and find deals on 4k TV/receiver with HDMI 2.1 this fall and hold off on the PS5 until more games are out.
