Thats literally how i have played all Sony games this gen. Well, aside from demon Souls which looked awful in the 30 fps mode for some reason.

All native 4k with some very minor DRS to ensure the game remains a locked 30 fps.

Part of the reason why the game might look underwhelming is because they are targeting these native 4k resolutions in 30 fps modes while everyone else is settling for 1440p in their quality mode and putting that extra GPU horsepower towards better lighting, and other graphics features like nanite and ray tracing.

Oh how the tables have turned. Imagine if you told me 6 months ago that AC Shadows would have been the game with the more attractive female protagonist, better graphics, and innovative open-world features such as the season system.

I trust SP so I'm sure this game will be good, but man the marketing team is really making it look boring as fuck and it is hilarious how similar the plot is to Shadows. The game doesn't look much better graphically than GoT and I don't know what the hook is. Guns? Not very exciting compared to building on the stealth and diegetic open-world features they set up in the first game. Funnily enough if they had just done GoT2 they would seemingly be in a much better position.

Yep. Back in the day, the hook for these next gen only sequels used to be visuals and big bombastic setpieces that couldnt be done on last gen hardware. Now its just more of the same. I think Kojima knows how to market these games and Sony studios are stuck doing these 2 minute trailers that show nothing except for some out of context cutscenes about characters we know nothing about. Im sorry but this isnt god of war ragnorak or even HFW, you cant treat this marketing like its a sequel to a established game. The second trailer for Ghost was an awesome 8 minute gameplay demo. This second trailer for the sequel is literally a copy pasta of the first teaser.

And yeah, they shouldve called an audible as soon as they saw that AC shadows had the same plot. Keep it in the game, but market the trailer around some other hook.

But are you willing to admit that you were cherry picking? Just a few frames later and the same shot looks interesting enough to at least point to something meaningful.

Skin shading, subsurface scattering, dynamic lighting from the guys weapon in the background, which is also diffusing into the smoke, soft shadows, high res shadow maps. This looks a significant step up from the GoT. Just the ground looks way less flat. Most ground surfaces and even rocks in GoT were literally PS3 quality flat. At least point to what what in this shot looks last gen and we can agree or disagree.

A few seconds later and it's this shot, which also looks gorgeous. Bear in mind that these are just random gameplay shots they have cobbled together with no additional effects like depth of field.

Characters' skin tone is consistent with environment lighting. There is light variation throughout the scene. There is directional edge lighting on the enemies head consistent with the sun's position. The leaves and even the cloth between her legs is getting subsurface scattering. Nothing groundbreaking, but these are significant steps above the first game.

Maybe you haven't played Last of Us 2? Horizon also gets an honourable mention for its general lesbianity. If The Lost Legacy would have gotten a sequel then I'm pretty certain that ND would have gone the lesbian route once again.

Definitely seems like they know about GTA6's release, otherwise they should've announced this date at an event.

Will see how it turns out, they haven't shown enough gameplay for me to be that engaged, but the style still looks great. Might wait on the PC version though.

All it has to do to beat AC Shadows is not release in a buggy ass state where the AI breaks that was my Shadows experience on my friend's PS5.

I don't know, I think the game had plenty of options with the perks and gear, specially the charms, also the sub-weapons. I loved making the enemies attack each other and also having them all vomiting all over the place. It didn't lack variety to me.

Hmmm. The only time I ever had to mess around with charms and gear was for duels and that too in Lethal difficulty. It was both my wife and I' s GOTY. Just critiquing it on what I think are weaknesses that they can improve on.

I feel like they are just doing away with some of the things that made GoT unique. There was just the one melee weapon that you upgrade throughout the whole game, but the combat was super tight as a result. I can't imagine they'll be able to replicate that with multiple different weapons.

Part of GoT's charm was its simplicity and sort of minimalistic approach to design. Yotei just feels like another AC game, they are trying to add more stuff to market all the new features but to me it's just putting me off from wanting to play this game more than anything.

Wouldn't go that far just yet. They could still make them shine if they all have unique reasons to use. But we probably won't know that till the game reviews are out.

I'm excited and positive about this game, but somehow in the trailer it looks like a PS4 game. Not trying to be mean or anything.

I find this funny because people were saying the first one looked like a ps5 game now the sequel looks like the PS4.

To me this confirms GTA6 is a December release, like Cyberpunk, like the Avatar movies.

The true megatons drop in December right before Christmas.

GTA would more likely be mid November. Has anything big been announced for September yet? Mafia?

We'll see. Sucker Punch have the same lead writer but they've also brought on board a bunch of BioWare rejects responsible for Dragon Age Veilguard's writing. Nothing is guaranteed to be good here.

Also in terms of the acting, English was dogshit in Shadows but the Japanese dub was really good and the way to play it. Really elevated the game and turned Naoe from awkward to lovable waifu.

Again, other than the grass, there are no technical features to show in your GoT shots. Rest is all just colors/art making up for the flat lighting and simple geometry. Remove the depth of field and the first shot wouldn't be remotely as impressive.

But yes, we can agree that FW was a significantly bigger jump between the 2 games. But we can't be expecting Sucker Punch to match GG on that front.

This list is like Hal's pancakes in Malcolm in the Middle. The best games are about as good as last years, but my god there is a ton of dogshit in there. Midnight Murder Club is the definition of mid, yearly sports games are , and Convallaria and Lost Soul Aside aren't worth the crust on my underwear.

I would only consider Death Stranding 2, Marathon and Ghost of Yotei as viable games - broadly an equivalent year to 2024's Astro Bot, Helldivers II and Rise of the Ronin, then.

Those are the wonders of a diverse output, me thinks. MLB The Show 25 was pretty good from what I read, I'm personally interested in Lost Soul Aside, and I imagine Convallaria will do pretty decently in the Chinese/Asian market, especially with it being F2P.

I just finished GOT 30 minutes ago. wow what a story and combat. Loved it.
Some repetitive open world stuff but I didn't do all the side quest. Kinda stopped 100%ing everything middle of act 2.

even if yotei looks 99% the same graphically.. it doesn't matter. I don't need games to look any better than this.

Well.. I just finished ac shadows week ago and got this week. both on pro.
I believe ac shadows in balanced mode is like 1440p or less and got is native 4k.
Guess which one looks better and got better image quality? The not native 4k one...
Of course talking purely technically. I Prefer everything about got over ac shadows.

-I did all ishikawa quests. It was interesting and ended fine. But I couldn't bare to finish masako and others. Should I?

All supporting character side quests were interesting and worth the ride. I found the dlc better than the main game, so I would recommend it.

I don't like how low energy this all is. A new Ghost game is supposed to be a big deal, Tsushima was a huge hit for them and a very popular game overall.

I never completed the original and I don't think I have it in me for another game like AC Shadows so soon after it. I had 30 hours of fun in AC and this doesn't show anything I haven't seen in this period piece or from a gameplay perspective that Shadows or Ghost 1 didn't cover already.

i think this is a way bigger upgrade than ragnorak. ragnorak virtually looked identical to the first game. this is a spiderman 1 to spiderman 2 or horizon zd to horizon fw caliber leap. Significant but not generational. it could definitely look better than this.
