Ghost of yotei looks incredible and i can't wait to play it day 1.

I saw a couple of things in the gameplay deep dive that have me absolutely hyped tbh to play this game day 1 and i just wanted to share my thoughts on them.

1: You can switch between the present time and the past with a single button press. This is absolutely insane and is extremely impressive that they've essentially created two different timelines in one game and blended them seamless throughout the gameplay experience. I feel like it makes your journey even more amazing when you can just go to a location and see how it was back in the past to how it is in the present time and compare them. This is simply badass.

2: There's a new system called the clue system that can lead you to new areas and to new enemies throughout your gameplay experience. You can beat enemy and then interrogate them with different questions, which allows you to find out hidden secrets that you never would've known about before which in turn leads you to discovering all types of things on the map. This makes attacking random enemies worth it because now they can give u helpful info. Awesome mechanic that i'm glad they added!!!

3: We can play in watanabe mode or miike mode!!!!!!! Mikke mode moves the camera in closer and adds more blood and mud while watanabe mode adds in lo-fi beats as you travel around and explore. We got 13 assassin's shit and samurai champloo shit!!!!! THAT'S FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!! The soundtrack in this game is going to SLAP!!!!

I'm personally hyped AF for this game and i think it's going to be incredible. They added alot of new cool stuff as well as refined some things to make the experience better such as having NPC'S join you at a campfire. This game is going to kick ass and I'll be their day 1!

It is. Some would think there are no difference but I can see it when they are side by side.

Honestly, the upgrades look comparable from DS1 to DS2. I imagine the scope would be much better compared to GoT.

On a serious note, for OP #1… isn't that 2016's Titanfall 2 world switch mechanic?

I can see it's a cool mechanic to add and to be interested in, but it just read like this is a world first or something.

I have no quips with the game in the end, watched the state of play and I'm pretty sure I will play it on PC.

1 - I don't know how I feel about that, so undecided.
2 - Same as above.
3 - Absolutely couldn't care less, including the Kurosawa mode. I might use the Japanese voice mode on the second playthrough though. Cool for people who like it though, I am not against it, since I don't have to play with them on.

My main thing is whether to buy it day one or wait for PC. I waited with Ragnarok and it wasn't too bad, so... Though it will probably depend on my backlog and what I feel like playing.

There's nothing badass about pressing a button to see what a building looked like before it got dusty lmfao

It's environmental Instagram. "Wow, this tree used to be alive!" Who cares? If the mechanic doesnt change how you play or make you think, it's not innovative.

Tbh idk cause i never played titanfall 2, so someone can correct me if i'm wrong on ghost of yotei being unique with the mechanic. I do know that the world in yotei is hugeeeeeeeeeee so to implement a mechanic like that is extremely impressive.

World switching isn't really new. Zelda SNES had the dark world. Titanfall 2. Soul Reaver. It still could be fun. There will likely be some passages not open in one world but open in the other, etc.

It changes the story because with a button press you can go back in time to when she was a little girl and see her family and her home etc before it was burned to the ground by the masked assailants. You can explore things when their was a time of peace. It's immersive for storytelling reasons and almost 0 games do something like this on this scale.

But on the scale they're doing it is insane. Having a world that massive and being able to explore it in two different timelines has almost never been done in gaming history. The games you described had mechanics like that, but not on this level i'd assume.

I'm glad you're excited for it, but couldn't this have been a post in the presentation thread instead?
The presentation thread was already lost for people who absolutely wanted a collection of positive things. Sure, he could have completely ignored it, but some people just need that. There are more pointless threads out there.

It is of course much bigger level than Titanfall 2

Yeah, that's fair. I do wonder if it's going to be literally the entire open world. That would be a little absurd honestly. Would mean they had to touch up that whole thing twice. That would be new. I suspect it's likely at points of interest, but maybe not?

I read the ign article on the presentation and they were acting like the entire game has two different timelines essentially and i haven't seen anything disputing it so far. I honestly wish we got to see more of that mechanic in the presentation.

I think that switching time periods thing is only going to be in her home town. At any time anywhere on the map doesn't seem plausible to me.
I don't think it'll be anywhere where there is combat. I'm hyped though, even if that nonbinary bitch looks like she's swallowing marbles.

I was listening to one of the songs that they released on youtube after the state of play, and that shit was banging. The soundtrack for this game is going to be amazing.

It wasn't the best showing IMO, but the original was one of my favorite games and this is giving me more of that and making enough changes to it that I'm intrigued and definitely excited to play it in a few months.

Good thread OP, the insane and inane flood of cynicism and negativity on here has gotten so tiring.
