Ghost of yotei looks incredible and i can't wait to play it day 1.

I saw a couple of things in the gameplay deep dive that have me absolutely hyped tbh to play this game day 1 and i just wanted to share my thoughts on them.

1: You can switch between the present time and the past with a single button press. This is absolutely insane and is extremely impressive that they've essentially created two different timelines in one game and blended them seamless throughout the gameplay experience. I feel like it makes your journey even more amazing when you can just go to a location and see how it was back in the past to how it is in the present time and compare them. This is simply badass.

2: There's a new system called the clue system that can lead you to new areas and to new enemies throughout your gameplay experience. You can beat enemy and then interrogate them with different questions, which allows you to find out hidden secrets that you never would've known about before which in turn leads you to discovering all types of things on the map. This makes attacking random enemies worth it because now they can give u helpful info. Awesome mechanic that i'm glad they added!!!

3: We can play in watanabe mode or miike mode!!!!!!! Mikke mode moves the camera in closer and adds more blood and mud while watanabe mode adds in lo-fi beats as you travel around and explore. We got 13 assassin's shit and samurai champloo shit!!!!! THAT'S FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!! The soundtrack in this game is going to SLAP!!!!

I'm personally hyped AF for this game and i think it's going to be incredible. They added alot of new cool stuff as well as refined some things to make the experience better such as having NPC'S join you at a campfire. This game is going to kick ass and I'll be their day 1!

Good for you I guess. Not sure this is worth a thread, sounds like a bitter infantile response to some criticism against it. Noting against people being happy and hyping the game though, but this thread could be a post throw on a possible discussion OT.

Being excited about a game is infantile? I think it's more infantile to label a game crap or make threads saying it looks like a ps4 game with 0 substance to back up anything that is being said. What about the constant messages saying the game is 'woke' that had no basis in reality either. Come on man. People are allowed to be excited about something.

I just read that the lead writer for this is the same one that did veilguard.

Is that true?

If so… how are you guys not terrified? Did you just totally ignore veilguard so you have no idea just how shitty that was lmao? Do you guys need us to dig up all the agenda clips?

The directors of this game are the same directors from ghost of tsushima. I don't have any worries personally and i didn't see anything that looked out of place or woke in the gameplay deep dive. Arms were being cut off, a womans family gets massacred, and they even kept in the sauna/bath scenes from ghost of tsushima in this game.

Making a thread in response to criticism? Yes.
Goes for both sides. Instead of creating negative and positive threads, create a discussion thread instead.

This is a discussion thread. It's a discussion thread bringing up points about the game that i was personally excited about and i wanted to get other people's thoughts on the game. I'm allowed to point about positives about the game and we've had alot of posters in here mention that they're excited for the game as well.

I wasn't that interested in GoY until watching the SoP. After that my interest has risen quite a lot.

The various modes and options to play are great bonuses.

The Game keeps the art style of GOT...this is great. Like the new firecamp gameplay and the wolf element.

In looks great on base PS5 just wonder what Will be the PRO improvements on this one.

Great job from SP again.

People are seriously calling this DLC?
People tried calling Ragnarok and Spiderman DLC too. It's the new go to trend for hating on certain sequels. Meanwhile Fromsoftware...
Just finished the stream. This must be the cleanest game image I've seen to date.
The artsytle and foliage looks phenomenal but I'm not sure about the cleanest image. There were some points where in the video it looked blocky with the crows. I'm hoping that's the youtube videos low bitrate causing macroblocking and the game is a lot cleaner.

The timelines bit is very cool, but do we know if you can do this all the time throughout the whole story/playthrough, everywhere?

Because when they showed it I was assuming it's only a particular section?

I doubt it would be everywhere. There would be very little reason to do it outside of points of interest. What are you going to notice outside of points of interest? some tree grew taller or a bed of flowers wasn't there before. It would have to be places that have historical significance to the story or mission. Imo it would be mostly useless and a waste of a button if enabled everywhere.

Could be wrong, but I'm guessing it's only for particular sections. I would assume that as an adult, she will be traveling to many places in the game that she had never been to as a child.

Agreed.

Still pretty damn cool.

The first one looks good but I haven't gotten around to it. It's been in my top 5 for intended to play "long" games, but is continually bumped down. I really can only handle so many of the big open world games. Even then, I often play about half of them, shelve it, and maybe get to the other half much later. I've gone back to horizon fw like three times now. Each time, it's pretty damn fun again, but gets old after maybe 10-20 hours and I had my fill and go to something else.

It sort of breaks investment in the story if you have it, and it inflates the playtime because on each return I end up taking it slow again, but I don't want to be forcing myself to complete these games. Also not going to complain about them being too long for me. I think that's part of the problem with spiraling budgets, but value measured in playtime is a huge deal for many people and rightly so given the way tastes have shaped up over the years.

Anyway, these type of games take me forever to complete with only few exceptions.

A pretty interesting way to utilize the console's streaming capabilities. Normally, we'd have a simple flashback cutscene or a short monologue, which isn't bad in itself, but this is really cool.

Even if it were to be a gimmick without much significance in terms of gameplay, i'm glad it exists. In a narrative that i suspect will be heavily based on coming to terms with a difficult past etc., it may add an additional layer of context, which sometimes disappears between the lines.

This isn't a new concept in games (The Vanishing of Ethan Carter did something similar), but the way it works is really impressive.

I was listening to one of the songs that they released on youtube after the state of play, and that shit was banging. The soundtrack for this game is going to be amazing.

I preferred this one:

But they are both bangers. I can see myself (yet again) spending hours in photomode listening to the songs. The wild west inspiration is incredibly cool.

Yes, the new mechanics / systems they're introducing are intriguing and sound fun. It also looks like they improved on the core gameplay a bit.

I'm going to try and clean my slate come release time to hop in along with everyone else, but this year is packed with other games that I also want to play, many releasing around the same time. Fingers crossed.

I think switching timelines will only be during specific scenes or areas. So not really that impressive. Everything else thought looks great.

Why would they even show stuff like that? I'm sure devs are hyper aware of the pendulum slowly swinging back into "normalcy" so why would they jeopardize any amount of sales by revealing the main is a lesbian or who's ultimate mission is to get a sex change? Or the multi layered side quest where you're helping the old gay couple?
