Ghost of Yoti New Gameplay Trailer

It is absolutely crazy how similar it looks to Ghost of Tsushima. Not just stuff like the rope swinging animations but even how barebones the world is. Look at how empty that base is, complete lack of "stuff" to make it feel alive.

It looks dated and bland. Tsushima had a very curated look and it worked, but with a sequel (especially a newer gen sequel) I expected a lot more than this.

I don't know what you guys see good in this. If this would have been shown by any other dev, would have been trashed.
Do you know of what it reminds me, animations and graphics? Of Wo Long, a game no-one remembers.
Looks alright and the blood splatter looks cool if you're into that. But the combat with all the insta-finisher moves looks less interesting than in Tsushima, or am I misremembering how that was?
Either way for me there is no rush to buy this.

Graphics look dated.
Combat looked simplistic.
Sorry, but I can't get over this all being done by a woman who is basically hulking her way through men like they are toddlers (with toddler AI to boot). It's laughable.

Tsushima looks and plays amazing for its time.
But this? Its almost like ctrl+c, didn't look like something that PS4 couldn't do. I know people will dissect this and try to show the every different detail, but most normal folk wouldn't notice. And for good reason, GoT was more about presentation.
People will get mad at me for saying this but this is nothing but "what if we re-use GoT game and put a girlboss on it?".

First thought was damn I wish I could play this as Jin. The snow graphics on GOT were pretty bad so at least this looks like an improvement in that department. Can't wait for the girlboss era to get buried once and for all.

Ghost of Mehtei.

Enemy placement seems as convenient as the first game, all flow, no friction or brain required, good for some, not for me.

Graphic is...like stealing candies from a child, it's not even worth trolling at this point :lollipop_squinting:

I may actually skip this one at full price...

This doesn't look interesting to be honest.

The graphics are from the PS4 era, too. how on earth this is a PS5 only game ? did the talent leave the studio after the first one ?

That looked not only damned crossgen, but boring as hell. What the hell happened at Sucker Punch? I thought they were going to eat AC:Shadows' lunch, but the opposite is the case.

5 years for a stand-alone expansion is crazy, dude.

You'd almost believe that was actually the case. The B-team are finishing up the Yotei expansion, while the A-team is still at work on the actual next gen game.

I'm not sure how this even works. Yes map is new, but they are surely re-using tons of assets here. Tech is barely upgraded. Established homebrew engine. Preproduction must have been pretty short because most of the game mechanics are established too. What are they doing for 5.5 years?

Exactly. This is what we have tho:

Source TypeExplanation for Delay
Rumor/UnverifiedPivot from Tsushima 2 to Yōtei mid-development, asset reuse, executive pushback
OfficialCreative reboot with cultural advisors and fieldwork in Hokkaido
Fan SpeculationMirrors rumor of origin story pivot and scope expansion
🤷‍♂️

Looks like the same precanned shit to me.

Probably less glitchy than your average AC game but hardly impressive in 2025.
There is some extra fluidity in Tsushima that I don't see here.

Yotei seems like something lower budget like Avowed.

They have cut the budget and rock textures are the proof of it.

BTW, for me its hardly a concern. I prefer games with instant response that are inherently poor in animations.

Remember when we complained about Horizon Forbidden West looking too samey outside of the massive graphical upgrade? How sweet and naive were we in 2022 :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:
GOW, Spiderman 2, DS2 and GoT2 have made me realize just how advanced HFW was for its time. Hell, it could release today and still be a bigger upgrade than these DLC feeling games.

You must hate RDR2 then.

there was an internal memo in the isnomanic leak that talked about how graphics upgrades cost too much, and are barely noticeable. It's a cost saving measure.

What's funny is that it still took them 5 years and 4 months to release this last gen looking game.

Nah. In terms of animation quality, it's the same. Better than AC, worse than GoW, much worse than Sekiro and well behind ND. Someone at SP thought they could pull off a SunhiLegend style combat snippet and all the seams are showing. At least there are enough new weapons (and hence new animations) and rag-dolling. I would be dumping on it too, if not for that. I'm still excited for gameplay possibilities with the new weapons since there appears to be more depth than just cosmetics and rock-paper-scissors. And I'm sure the dumb AI would still be a lot more enjoyable at lethal difficulty.

Given Intergalactic is melee focused, I expect it to set the new standard for fluid melee combat animations. Just that one tiny snippet with how the enemy robot deals with weight transfer and the multiple arms changing grip of the sword handle says it all. Only Rockstar pays attention to that kind of detail, but their games end up controlling like absolute trash, while ND somehow still pulls it all off. GoY, is nowhere near any of that. But that's also par for the course. Infamous had great traversal, but the animations were pretty janky and the NPC animations were absolutely awful. AI and animations are just not their strength.

ND seems more interested in putting resource into endlessly repackaging old games, paying their studio head to do anything but manage the studio, nose piercings and pastel colored hair dye. I expect the same decline in ambition we've seen from all the other 1st party studios. Nothing is sacred at Sony anymore.

Looks good, but I'm not a fan of the screen shaking when running. Hopefully it can be disabled.
i despise any type of camera shake, wish devs realized that even during explosions it would be nice if we could actually see it instead of having a seizure

They say this time the open world will feel more organic with truly great explotarion (I dont know what's there to explore, other than catching some banners and costumes). That's the only viable excuse for taking 5 years to develop this.

Or maybe the story is far more convoluted than it seems, which I doubt.

Yeah, couldn't finish it.

Normally I try to meet games at their terms and see what they got. Did some rewiring of my senses and put 20 hrs in it.

But it just wasn't satisfied with making me learn its control scheme. At every step it oversteps, from bizarre pre baked scenarios to overly lengthy horse rides with nothing to do.

Eventually I just gave up.

Lol. I see where you are coming from, but I need to see the game in action before being disappointed

The first one is peaceful, interesting and engaging in a way that's more greater the sum of its parts. I.e. similar to ubislop but enjoyable. Not vibing with this one and I loved Kill Bill.

What is wrong with you people? Does the gender of the protag really matter to you that much? Jesus Christ.

Is that a rhetorical question? Because if you spend anytime reading through people's reactions and opinions here you'd know it does matter and people are sick of playing as a chick with every fucking AAA game that is being released. Maybe read the room before having a meltdown 🤷

Cool, but looks like a part 2 of the original game rather than a sequel. Asking the price they will for it is funny after how much I paid for the new Mafia. I will buy this around 20 I guess.

A Sony sequel that basically looks like more of the same but with 53.4% more strong independent female energy?

Seriously though, weird trailer. Tushima is one of those games that nails the "macro look" of the world, it's all about the vistas, the leaves in the wind, the nice art direction, etc. When you zoom in though, the close up detail isn't good, so I don't get why they'd do that in a trailer.
