Ghost of Yoti New Gameplay Trailer

Gotta echo the sentiments here: that doesn't look very good. Gameplay seems stale and the graphics are ridiculously flat. Like, Halo Infinite levels of "... what the fuck happened?". There really is a pattern here for Sony's PS5 sequels: they all basically look like PS4 DLC. I don't know what's going on, maybe it's a cost cutting measure somehow, but I'm not expecting this to post numbers.

Yeah bro, games are our things, we should only have space marines with huge jaws and huge muscles to admire, wimmin should be cooking and cleaning. We're all incredibly good looking so that's why it bothers us if a video game character is not as hot as the harem of supermodels that flock around us in real life amirite
it's my money and i will spend it the way I want to our not. I am not going to fund an agenda that I don't agree with.

This is wo-long. It looks way better than Wo long

And Team Ninja games, like Wo-long, have some of the best combat animations in the industry. Shouldn't be a slight

Wolong, Wuchong, Wukong

That looks great! I really should go back to playing Tsushima. I think I just played 20 hours or so, started over after the PC version and played even less. What should I do to stay interested? Should I just push forward in the main story?
It's just a boring game after awhile take it or leave it. I would play it when you have nothing else to play.

You guys are absolutely brutal. What happened to "That's just because of YouTube's lousy compression" or "On an OLED TV it'll be a better experience than the second coming of Christ"?

Reality happened.
Gamers had enough of Sony lazy sequels made of reused assets, with barely any graphical improvements that play exactly the same as the previous game (like GOW ragnarok and Spider-Meh 2).

Maybe the inevitable PS6 remaster of this will finally make it look like a PS5 game...

Where did you saw the ragdolling?

Pretty sure they still use all precanned animation with no ragdoll like sushima (and all their games really)
I might be wrong, but a lot of death animations in the previous state of play had the enemies stagger, collapse, flip in line with the direction of the attack. Probably not full ragdolls as most games don't seem to do that anymore (God, don't we all miss that?) but some physics perhaps? May be just more variety of canned animations with some directional logic, but seemed an improvement from the comically limited, stiff death animations from GoT.

Most games do have full ragdoll tho, the vast majority of games where you kill stuff really.

I think the game is not using ragdoll at all, maybe some more variations in the kills so they look more directional but any expert player is gonna notice thaat are not dynamic by the time you kill the first enemy, they literally glue in the terrain with a fixed position...

Sucker punch has always been allergic to ragdoll, in their infamous games and now in their samurai games.

They have a handheld coming. I wonder if they aren't pushing graphics next gen like usual so that their games can run well on it.

If I'd have gotten a Pro this gen I'd be mad as all hell at Sony for pulling this shit: sell a super expensive console at a price higher than any console ever with a promise of better visuals, then put out one or two first party games all year that look PS4 level in graphics.

Thank you, Sony.

My take.

The graphics aren't bad. The lighting is terrible. It makes the game seem like this:

The lighting makes the backgrounds seem artificial. The graphics are good as ther is a lot going on in these scenes but it seems like they have not implemented hdr. If you took this same game and added ray tracing and fixed the tone mapping it would shine. The graphics haven't been reduced but the whole lighting situation seems like some kid adjusted the game so they could see easy with no mind to the artificiality that creates in the final image. I don't get it. Simple lighting fixed could make this game look a lot better.

That rumored handheld is going to hold the PS6 back even worse than the Series S has been doing to its bigger brother. Raytracing, in particular path tracing held the promise that one day it would make games development easier and cheaper coz devs wouldn't need to bake lightning if every game would have full RT support and there'd be no to support weaker systems. With mandatory handheld support that dream is dead. It means they have to do both and with limited resources and money, that means both options will suffer in quality.

Right. That was my observation in GoT and found that not be the case in many instances in GoY, where they weren't glued to a fixed position. Will post some samples when I can. May still not be rag dolling like you said, but just… more directional than before.

I personally am excited for it, just discussing graphics which are by no means a huge deal to me. Performance is more important especially when graphics are good enough. I think this will look much better live on my Pro versus some youtube video. Look at the impressions for Mafia when it comes to graphics compared to the videos. Youtube videos never do games justice. This will look better than Tsushima which is still beautiful.

I have a Pro and yes, it's bad. It seems that past the launch period where Sony probably closely partnered with devs to do significant differences the upgrades for new releases are getting worse and worse (basically now it's only slightly better IQ and +10/15 fps in unlocked modes), and even latest first party games have no significant upgrades (no added RT or enhanced graphical features)

As time goes by I think we will enter a vicious cycle as disappointing upgrades will lead gamers to not buy the console, which will lead devs to put even less efforts into specific Pro versions.

This feels like a miss overall, and worth buying only if you have sufficiently disposable income that it has no impact at all on your bank account

That.. looked akin to a QTE sequence. Everything was so lovingly placed 🤷‍♂️

Infact, the more I think about it, the more I just want an updated original Tenchu

Sony, do the right thing after this game comes out.

Tenchu 1 is still the best and even though I love 2 it desperatly needed music. Can imagine if it would of had the same quality god tier score that 1 had. The silence killed it reaching its full potential.

One of these days Im gonna commision AI to write tracks for 2 in the same style as 1 composer. Shit could be fire. Heres hoping.

The enemy AI looks bad. That video didn't do the game any favours. Wiping out an enemy camp like it wasn't even a challenge.
Right?

I know they are trying to show how much of a "badass" the MC is...but this ain't it.

GOT Worked because damn near EVERY battle had weight and consequences to it, or at least felt like it. It wasn't a power-trip gore-porn action fantasy (like this trailer portrayed).

Complete tonal shift.

From my perspective, it seems like the 5 Pro would be a good purchase for those wanting to extend this generation, and might not want to engage early in the next one. But yeah, it sucks not getting any excitement on the investment so far, I would imagine.

I don't see it extending anything. Usually, the ones that will spend this much money on a discless upgrade, will be the more hardcore gamers. The more hardcore gamer cares about frame rate, and because the cpu is the same piece of garbage that's inside the ps5, you're guaranteed to be running future titles at 30fps and below, which i don't see those gamers being fine with, especially if the ps6 is out.

Yeah that's me right there. Paid $1150 for the Pro with discdrive at my area. And now I've unplugged it because I don't use it and needed the hdmi port…
Not my best purchase so far that's for sure!

But once Intergalactic is out, or Cory's game, or if I decide to try GTA, then I think I'll feel better about it.

This exactly why I didn't buy Pro, I'm happy with my current regular launch PS5 and Pro doesn't even come with basic feature like god damn disc drive.

Also this gen I'm mostly using my PS5 for mutiplatform 3rd party games and lost interest in most Sony 1st party games.

Snow environments almost always look poor in games, especially when your "snow" is just a flat texture on the ground. You need to be out of touch to showcase your game in circumstances like these.
Snow environnements in Death Stranding 2 look fucking good though, and are nearly the most beautiful environments in the game

Lighting looks like complete shit. Those who bitch about RT should want that game to have it.
Indeed. Would be cool GI RT on pro but eh. Graphically is really underwhelming. A pity because the gameplay seems cool. Anyway is such a big disappointment not to see Sucker Punch on ps5 show a comparable generational graphical leap offered on ps4.

I'm in the same boat. Was really considering getting a Pro, but I'm glad I stuck to my regular base PS5.

The fact that, at best, this looks only 10% better than Tsushima is fucing WILD.

This needs a Halo Infinit3 typw of delay because how the hell did they not bother putting effort into improving the visuals on a PS5 only developed game??

We're 5 years in now. They even have access to the ps5 Pro and this is considered acceptable? Like gamers, Sony fans, ps5/ps5 pro owners ....what are we even doing here accepting this garbage effort from such an anticipated PS5 game?

Wow. It's like Sucker Punch is an indie team or something?

Do we know what happened? They made infamous and Ghosts was a decent late gen game. Jason Schrier needs to do an expose on this. My guess is that all the talent left or the game was in development hell, and they just turned this DLC into a $70 game.

Fans dont care about graphics. I mean look at CoD, Fortnite, and other popular games. The mass audience really doesnt care about graphics.

Devs are the ones you need to care about graphics. They are putting their heart and soul into a game for five years. You'd expect them to ship something they can be proud of. Something they can point to and say hey, I MADE THAT. Honestly, i am surprised devs can ship something like this and not be ashamed of their output. Especially after seeing chinese and indie studios like Sandfall Interactive. It's obvious that devs have stopped caring and take zero pride in their art. No one at sony is shipping something that looks this dated last gen. Something has gone really wrong there, and it's the devs who should be held responsible. Not just for the lack of graphics and gameplay upgrades, but for sheer laziness, lack of effort, and a complete lack of shame for putting out something this bland.

I would've resigned before charging $70 for this. Have some self respect.
