With a solid presentation, a versatile multiplayer element, and a compelling single-player campaign, Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike is just about everything you could want in a Ghost Recon 2 expansion pack. More maps, more missions, more stuff to shoot, and at a reduced price to boot. Summit Strike should definitely keep Ghost Recon fans happy and busy while they wait on the next-gen version.

I'm shocked to hear the graphics were improved. Wasn't expecting that. I'm all over it this evening.

$30 cant beat that. im not surprised to see the graphics werent updated because its running on the same engine, and truthfully i thought gr2 looked awesome to begin with

Sounds like from the review they really spent a lot of time on the single-player too, which for an expansion pack surprises me.

Since Frys will have it for 20$, sounds like a no-brainer.

i got money that says once the 360 hits, juice buys ghost recon as one of his launch games

I'll be in Japan, unfortunately. But yeah, I always give into the "tech demo" game, even if I'm not interested in it. Just as the one I pop in to show off over the holidays and then shelve never to pull out again. (Xbox- Wreckless, GC-Rogue Leader)

And I don't believe for a minute their will be more than a couple thousand 360s shipped to Japan for "launch." It'll just be for posterity's sake of saying it was a worldwide launch. Hell, they still wouldn't sell out.

but...according to reviews they were updated some, weren't they? It was already a great looking game, agreed.

The graphics are improved and updated. From the Gamespy Review ...

The first thing fans of the Ghost Recon franchise are likely to notice here is the huge amount of graphical improvements the game has made over any of the previous games. Besides adding polish to the already impressive models and textures in Ghost Recon 2, Red Storm really pushed the GR2 engine to its limits to create some phenomenal environments and effects. Some of the most impressive effects include the addition of weather elements, like falling snow and sandstorms. These effects add a new element of realism to the game, and also provide a unique obstacle and/or advantage to work with in various missions.

btw... they gave it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars

awesome. im hoping enough people will be online to get some games in tonight. helo hunt looks like it could be pretty fun. from the pictures it does look like they improved the prohics

i'm up for a game tonight. i'm going to pick it up in about 30 minutes.

i have 768k upload speed on my internet connection, so i can host a lag free game for GAF (anyone else have more upload than me can host if they want).

can't wait to try out the new modes in the game. plus the huge open outdoor environments are supposed to be really cool.

dude what is up with people knocking ghost recon, its one of the best tactical shooters you can buy for anyconsole and absoltuly destroys socom. (im not a fanboy i play both). whats your live tag im truffleshuffle1 ill keep a look out for your room

my Gamertag is the same as my name here: shpankey

and yes, i agree... this series is a hell of a lot better than Socom.... though Socom is also fun in its own way.

i have no idea why anyone would knock this series... the gameplay is basically perfection.

Was playing GR2 co-op and we didn't have to move 10 feet from our spawn point...The enemy AI from the entire map ran to us after we took down the first group we encountered. It was kinda funny seeing a big pile of stupid AI corpses stacking up like driftwood.

OH YEAH, it was fun clearing an area and having Scotty beam down some new enemies to an area that was clear seconds ago.

Ah yes. Enemies as dumb as bricks but with eagle sharp eyes, x-ray vision and the ability to appear out of thin air. I remember playing one of the Lone Wolf missions in GR2, where the enemies would all come strolling around the same damned corner of death, one after the other. You'd think the pile of 4 dead buddies would have tipped the others off about this particular corner. What's even greater was when I zoomed in with the sniper to make sure there were no enemies in sight, only to be gunned down by some guy who magically appeared out of thin air in the exact position I had been zoomed in on only seconds earlier. Such crap.

Seems like a ton of people are getting the red X problem that was so prevalent in GR2. How could something like that slip through quality control AGAIN?

I had loading problems initially. Then it stopped. I think it has to do with the weird cache loading these games do in the beginning. Then my dog bit through my network cable :/

got the game... only played the first mission so far, but dayamn! the graphics are smokin'

the map i'm on is a snow level, it's huge and it take place on a mountain side. you can see realy high mountain peaks dissapear into the clouds and fog way up the hill... and a snowstorm is blowing on the whole mountain. it really has a ton of atmosphere.

the controls are sublime (as always) and one thing i really dig is they have got the framerate to be rock steady now (in part 2 it would dip).

very sweat game. lovin it so far. i got it for $32 and am real happy! :D

i can't get the first mission to end. can anyone help? i got everything done, and there is one last red triangle (objective) just sitting there pointing in the snow at nothing. i went trapsing up and down the mountain looking for stragglers and found nothing.

i have all the artillery dead and every enemy dead. on the L-Trigger it says I need to kill all the people in the village, cept there is nobody here. anyone help?

People were having the exact same problems over at IGN. One dude finally restarted the map and made sure he destroyed the tanks before the village.......or something like that. Anyway, it worked.

Hmmm. I don't know it worked good for me. Make sure you take out the tank and jeep. And the pile of ordinance in the village? Graphics are wonderful. Some neat lighting tricks going on. Controls are wonderful.

Really bummed I couldn't play it last night on LIVE. I saw you on shpankey, but you were playing single player. Then I had the cable incident. So many modes! Looking forward to comparing this to Socom 3 and deciding where to put most my time.

ah that must be it then, cause i went and killed the villagers first thing, then went up the mountain and destroyed the artillery.

i was under the impression that the gameplay was wide open now and could be done in any way we chose. guess not.

i'll be on again tonight. if i'm in single player, just give me a message through Live and I can switch over quickly.

In theory it's supposed to be, but I guess it's a bit buggy.

I am loving this game. Damn it gets hard (but fun!) in the later missions.

I take back the framerate bit though... it is a bit unsteady, especially in the rain.
