Because it's Fantasy Sports and that makes it a "game of skill" and not a "game of chance." It's a legal fine line.

No, because those are games of chances. There's not much skill other than being able to read your opponents or count cards.

just finished it and vinny was pretty spot on about the fact that not being entirely sure of what was going to happen at the end of your turn was a real friggin bummer. As it ramps up in complexity stuff begins to happen where you're not entirely sure if the option you've just chosen is actually going to do the thing you want it to instead of you getting shot out of the air or landing juuuuust out of killing range or whatever and it's real bullshit.

This is just the rationalization the DFS sites use and it's gibberish, since poker and sports betting are plainly "games of skill" in the same vein. The real reason is that the UIGEA bill, which outlawed online gambling, allowed an exception for fantasy sports, imagining only the types of informal fantasy leagues among friends. The DFS have taken advantage of the loophole in a way plainly unintended by the framers of the law.
