Is a bit unfair to ask for a kibosh on the waypoint chatter / insults here?

yeah
even if the main story was a wash, the side content was really good and I loved my time with the game because of it
but from what I played (and heard), Dishonored 2's story seems really lacking

I don't think I have seen anything mean. Also some people seem to misunderstand this inhere. I love Austin and Patrick. I also really like Danielle. I wish them all the best and so far I thought they have done pretty well with Waypoint. This Waypoint High stuff though is super weird even for them. Itjust seems like a terrible idea that somehow got through the brainstorming phase.

I'll at least give them credit for doing something different for their end of year coverage, especially if it ends up finding an audience that the other game sites don't attract. Waypoint has only been around for a few months so them doing a normal GOTY presentation wouldn't mean much. But yeah, for me the fanfic stuff completely missed the mark.

imho one of the reasons people talk about shipping is not that they want to force their ship on other people but because they want to find other people to talk about their ship with. whether that's people who agree with them or want to fight them is probably besides the point.
But why do people have to be so serious about this stuff? We fight over video games and we know it's dumb. Is is like that?
