You guys should ease up on Max. He's probably nervous. I've met him a few times, and arrogance is definitely not an attribute I'd ascribe. He has opinions for sure, but he's also like really young. :)

I don't know if I would call it "pontificating" considering the conversation didn't last that long and Jaffe had the most to say, but sure. There are indeed two sides to that story and it's not as cut and dry as some of these guys make it sound.

GB's late night E3 ramblecasts are the perfect forum for this type of discussion, though.
 
This is great - the Day Zero live show started too late for me, I caught 20 minutes but it didn't seem like it was going anywhere. Is it worthwhile to check out, or nothing I'll miss?
 
Okay, I really disagree with Jaffe on this. Some games can support themselves based on non-mechanical grounds. They're probably closer to visual novels or stories than games, as such, but they're not outliers.

Jaffe is so fascinating to listen to. If he sold some audio book series where it's just him talking for hours, I would buy it in a heart beat.

I could actually feel it tugging on me as I was playing. Tribes is probably the only one I would consider paying for.
 
I don't really agree with the ME3 stuff. It was not hard to get packs, you got a shitload of points ingame and all the DLC has been free, most likely BECAUSE of people breaking banks on these gambles.

Yeah, agreed. I see the similarity to F2P games like LoL, though. The same "in-game points vs. real money" dichotomy is true there, and whether or not you actually spend money seems to depend on the type of person you are.
