I think people misunderstand what GB is looking for.
They watch these conferences for real, tangible details about real games that they know they'll be able to get their hands on. They were happy about the GOW and Horizon demos because they gave a good sense of what it's actually like to play those games.
The GB crew gets excited about games - look at Doom, Jeff can't stop raving about it.
But they know that teaser trailers and CG reels don't actually mean that much in the end - they're just a way to get people invested in a game before they have any gameplay to show.
So if you watch conferences to get HYPE off the fruitful efforts of marketing departments, then Sony did their job. But for guys like the GB crew who want solid info on games, I can see how it fell short.
