Giant Bomb @ E3 2017: <>

I thought I was bored with the tactical turn based action game after XCOM 2 didn't grab me... But lo & behold Nintendo and Rabbids have reignited it... that's still so strange.

Also I am kind of upset with myself by how excited I got seeing the Battlegrounds E3 trailer... I mean it's just jumping and climbing and I got way too excited about it.

so that Sony conference sucked but boy Spider-Man and God of War sure looked cool

i'll play Uncharted and that Horizon DLC as well

The eagle drone from Assassin's creed is still the thing that bugs me the most out of all these conferences.

I mean ok it's UBI but...come...on
Same here. The game looks interesting enough that I might be able to overlook it, but the Owl Drone single-handedlyclawedly killed my interest in Far Cry Primal.
I really wish they had the balls to keep "low-tech" mechanics in their low-tech settings. I get that I'm not their primary audience, but I think those games are way more fun when they're designed to be played without magical radars and ancient GPSes.

It's been a lacklustre E3 for me as well, but the duder's night shows are the real reason I look forward to E3 every year. That is where the real E3 begins, bring it on...

Looking at the SE schedule, at least I know there'll be something I care about in the last day.

Hopefully we get a new yoko taro project that isn't a fucking gacha game.

Holy shit, does Bust-A-Groove really sell for that much in the collector's market?

PS1 emulator research cancelled.

That's when I got it on ebay nearly 10 years ago, and they were brand new mint copies. You can find it at 60 per copy or so looking at ebay right now. (Bust a Groove 2 is closer to 75-100 in value tho)

I agree with your list , It really been a so so e3

I've really enjoyed it overall so far, and we still have Nintendo. Then again I never expected anything out of Microsoft and I think that's been a huge bummer for some people.

I've already seen 20 games on display here that I am excited about.

Is there an archive of the Sony conference up yet? I'd like to see the GB wrap-up of what seems like a pretty underwhelming conference (Spiderman notwithstanding)?

EDIT: ha, right after I post, there it is.

On a somewhat unrelated note it's my first graveyard shift after my vacation and I got a Lemonade Rockstar on the recommendation of one (or more) of the GB people and some of the duders here. This stuff is pretty dang good! Thanks for the hot tip!

The lack of Aisha Tyler at Ubisoft's presser was also disappointing

I also missed Aisha this year as well... But Ubi did a good job of having people who seemed to really care about their game on stage, really felt the passion from several people during their presentation.

I also missed Aisha this year as well...

Was Aisha's rehearsed and hacky comedy really missed that much? "Huh huh, gamers.....I bet nobody took a shower today, am I right?"

If anything, I think the EA/Bethesda/Ubisoft/Sony conferences underlined how unnecessary hosts are. Bethesda and Sony make a good case that you might not really need anyone on stage at all.

I'm not saying everything she did was amazing... I just liked having someone on stage that actually was invested in playing video games while being able to professionally host an event. Some of the executives on stages probably don't pick up controllers outside of work and I'm not quite bought in yet on having YouTubers/Twitch streamers hosting parts of the shows.

People say E3 sucks every year; it just depends what you're looking for.

Personally, there were around 4-5 games that really peaked my interested; and a few of those weren't previously on my radar at all. To me, that's a good E3.

I don't need 50 good games to play. I need 5 or 6 really amazing ones.

I don't think I have been wow'd from E3 since those initial Ubisoft reveals of The Division & Watch Dogs before the console launches and we all know how that turned out.

I guess nowadays I am just sceptical of everything I see at these events or maybe my tastes have just changed and cannot drum up my internal enthusiasm as I once could.

However, If I ever see a HL3 announcement in my lifetime I would probably lose my shit :)
