Introducing the ~~2015~~ 2016 Giant Bomb Game of the Year thread! Here we can have the raging debate about how giantbomb.com game of the year awards! You can find last years thread here, ostenibly better than this year. Maybe we should just go to that one. It smells nicer. But mine has sulfur, so that makes it...tastier.

It's been a tumultous year at Giant Bomb! Mario party has been slain, Dan Ryckert has been banished to the East, Brad got a sweet looking haircut, Jeff showed off his cat, Jason finally beat Dan at Street Fighter, Vinny found santa and brutally murdered him, and Alex trucked all year long. We also lost Austin Walker to Vice Gaming, but he's still with us in spirit. Luckily for us, we can all gab and gossip about their hot top picks for this year here in this thread~

Please make sure to use spoiler tags on discussion of their picks for this week. People won't be able to pour over the hot deliberations all at once, so let's spoiler tag it in this thread, atleast till Monday. Thank you.

This year we have video podcasts going up for the deliberations! Now we get to see Jeff clothesline Brad for his love of Hitman, Dan throw chairs and TKO Jason, whilst Drew looks from above whilst flying his plane, watching the sweat and steam rise up from the rigorous discussions. It'll be a joy to watch Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel earn it's well earned spot within the list, because that is indubitably the best fighting game in years, and we'll get to watch it live this year around. The battle rages on starting tomorrow, so be there or a bomb!

I'd like to thank daydream and Renpatsu for letting me use some of their art from the previous thread, as GoTY snuck up on us all.

That feel when I thought the thread title was a spoiler before promptly realizing it's not even started yet. Can't wait, the Giantbomb GOTY series is an extra Christmas present every year.

Here's hoping that Jeff will fight for Titanfall 2 to take a decent spot, and that their fondness for The Witness isn't quickly forgotten.

Yeah, given how well received both Doom and Hitman have been in the GB crew, most of us figure that those two will be fighting for the top spot. Overwatch might be a dark horse this year

Yay! That time of the year when Jeff's GoTY is selected. My money is on Titanfall 2, he loves the hell out of it but everyone seems to love Hitman so it might be our winner this year.

I want Overwatch to win but i think Dan and Alex are the only ones that really got into it and Alex is the only one who would fight tooth and nail to get it to GOTY because Dan would drop it for Hitman when it came down to it.

Probably gonna end up Doom which is whatever i think Doom/Hitman/Overwatch are all great games. Either way it's gonna be a fun week for podcast and even more fun week watching people have meltdowns over Jeffs cynical attitude towards their favorite game. I do hope Dan throws down for Stardew valley though because i feel like that game will get 0 love otherwise.

Yeah it was mostly me misreading it as Hitman taking the win.

I hope Overwatch doesn't get a surprise top 5 slot, and DOOM doesn't manage to snag number #1, but that's purely from my personal selfish wants. They did the right thing with Super Mario Maker last year so I'm content with any conclusion this year.

In your OP, OP can you put up links to NeoGAF posts of when each GOTY podcast episode starts that way I can read all of NeoGAF's discussions about GiantBomb's discussions. That would be great. Navigating the thread last year was a nightmare.

This is a serious request btw. I myself don't listen/watch much of GiantBomb but the GOTY discussions are crazy awesome.

Jeff for Titanfall 2, others Hitman and Overwatch. Jeff only concedes TF2 to second so Doom can get first. Push back from others, Overwatch gets bumped down as a negotiation to get Hitman to 2nd. End up with 1.Doom 2.Hitman 3.Titanfall 2 4. Overwatch 5. The Witness

I think this will be the top 5 for sure, though maybe in a different order. I find it hard to imagine another game breaking into these.
