Giant Bomb GoTY 2016- Agent 47, take out that Doom Marine

Doom is going to win this considering everyone liked it and Jeff is going to make sure of that. Probably hitman, titanfall 2, overwatch and uncharted will round out the top 5

Hopefully Brad doesn't fail Inside like he failed Bloodborne last year. I need Year 1 Destiny levels of fervor from Shoemaker on this one.

I don't think The Witness will make it into the Top 5. Maybe not even the Top 10, unless someone decides to relentlessly push it.

I'm so pumped for the video podcasts; you could always feel the rage and desperation as a beloved game gets fed into a Jeff-shaped woodchipper, but now we get to watch the heartbreak for ourselves! :D

I don't see how the top three isn't Doom, Hitman and Titanfall 2
The GB east guys really like overwatch. And Jeff is kinda the only one who put major time into TF2

Jeff for Titanfall 2, others Hitman and Overwatch. Jeff only concedes TF2 to second so Doom can get first. Push back from others, Overwatch gets bumped down as a negotiation to get Hitman to 2nd. End up with 1.Doom 2.Hitman 3.Titanfall 2 4. Overwatch 5. The Witness

This whole sequence of events seems entirely possible.

Other games that are contenders:

Picross 3D: Round 2(lots of love for this)
SuperHot This will make the list.
Inside(Jeff is against so this will get argued down the list, but is a sure lock IMO)

Yeah, this is definitely the top 5 unless they just kind of forget about the Witness.

Jeff-shaped wood chipper = I read the Wikipedia entry...

I can't see any other game taking home GOTY over Doom for the Giantbomb guys. Titanfall 2 will be top 5 for sure.

The Witness is nearly a year old at this point, and that kind of hurts it. It's also easily deconstructed as a never-ending series of IQ tests without a lot of interesting feedback or narrative elements.

I suspect it will get pushed off in favor of other staff members' passion-games. I think Brad and Jeff will be okay with just putting it on their personal Top 10 lists and leaving it off the staff Top 10. But we'll see.

My 2 predictions.

Brads number 1 will be the sites GOTY

There will be a Gears of War 4 versus Uncharted 4 fight that will be painful to listen to. I would be shocked of U4 makes their list TBH. It will be Jeffs filibuster to keep it off

I am going to say number 1 is Hitman. Everyone liked it and I can see Brad going with the "time spent with" defense on why it is number 1 over Doom.

Hitman will be GOTY. Those in denial are the Mario Maker naysayers from yesteryear. You can bet your bottom dollar, folks.

It would be crazy to me if Uncharted 4 is excluded to make room for Gears of War 4.

the way Jeff was talking on one of the casts, his pick did not make #1

So I am guessing Hitman wins

Which is fine because it is my GOTY too!

Jeff: "I really, really, really like the Witness. It's really great."
Brad: "It's fucking awesome, it's a fantastic game."

In the next podcast Jeff calls it amazing and Dan says it's really good as well.

It's going to be in the top 10, and a good chance in the top 5 unless it was just so far back in the year they forgot about it.

Highly doubt gears makes it over uc4. Either both go out as a trade off or uncharted 4 makes the top 10 and depending on how much Alex and vinny liked it, it might sneak in to top 5. I know dan and brad liked it very much but who knows about the rest. Jeff will be indifferent as usual since he most likely didn't play it for more than 30 minutes

Yeah, it will 100% be Hitman. Every person on that staff played and at the very least liked if not loved it. No one will have a bad word to say about Hitman. CALLING IT NOW

Yeah, I think The Witness is probably #4 or #5. Hard to imagine it falling much lower than that.

It's always rubbed me the wrong way the way that they blanket warn against any spoiler, any game at any time in these.

Would it be that hard to have all the naturally spoiler awards (biggest surprise, best story, best moment etc) be put into one podcast that is clearly labeled the spoiler cast? Then, should it be appropriate to discuss something in detail that is in spoiler territory in the non-spoiler cast, you give the proverbial "fast forward 2 minutes if you don't want this spoiled" statement?

I'm glad they do these, but their approach to spoilers where likely 100% of the audience has not played all the titles is poor.

Giantbomb are against spoiler culture. Just another reason to love them.

They were quite effusive about Threes as well.....another puzzle game that was released early in the year and forgotten when GOTY time came around. I can't think of the last time they put a puzzle-heavy cerebral game into the Top 10. They just seemed to be more predisposed towards action, FPS, RPG, etc.

Ultimately I think it depends how much Brad/Jeff want to stump for it, and if they have other games they would rather ramrod into the Top 10.

Pretty much everyone on staff has played and enjoyed Hitman and Doom. But very few games have gotten the level of video coverages as Hitman has. I think it has to take the top slot.

I'm not sure what that means, but to say knowing about surprises or great moments (even early on in a game) ahead of time does not detract from their impact is absurd.

Generally, one does not have a 'Holy shit' moment in a book, movie or game if someone told them about it ahead of time.
