Giant Bomb GoTY 2016- Agent 47, take out that Doom Marine

I'm not sure what that means, but to say knowing about surprises or great moments (even early on in a game) ahead of time does not detract from their impact is absurd.

Generally, one does not have a 'Holy shit' moment in a book, movie or game if someone told them about it ahead of time.

If you want actual meaningful discussion about a game you're going to need to talk about it in full.

"raises hell" meaning he endlessly talks about a game nobody else played. that always makes for an entertaining discussion.

And then they all cower before Austin's better arguments and say "Austin-sama you are too good, you can put any game you want on the Top 10, because none of us can actually argue against well structured, prepared words."

And Austin chooses Invisible Inc PS4.

And he Austin Walkers off to the Waypoint dimension.

Overwatch: Dan, Jason, Vinny and Alex

Doom: Brad

Titanfall 2: Jeff

Drew: No idea

Overall: Overwatch, Doom and Hitman

Brad: hitman,Doom, witness, maybe thumper, clash royale
Dan: Overwatch, Stardew Valley, hitman, clash
Royale
Jeff: TF2, Doom, Witness, Rez infinite
Alex: Overwatch, thumper, TLG
Vinny: Overwatch?
Drew: no idea. Maybe that Summer car game
Jason: God Eater 2, Shadow Warrior 2, SFV( even though he has issues with it)

Those are the games that I remember each of them talking about the most. So basically Doom, overwatch and Hitman

Not looking forward to hearing how a soulsborne game will get shunned from top 10 for the 5th time. I think Jeff might have a grudge against them and or is trying to troll the fans. git gud already Jeff.

Guys I'm going to go out on a limb with some predictions

-Alex brings up a game just to mention it
-Jeff decides that a discussion or decision is over without it actually happening
-Brad quadruples down on some point as if it's religious dogma and then three days later uses the directly opposing argument when it's convenient
-Vinny concedes a point when he was making the most sense, just to be nice
-Jeff dismisses some beloved game out of hand because it didn't appeal to his tastes, acts befuddled that other people are nominating it and tries to shut it down and move on as fast as possible
-A category ends with an inexplicable "I have to listen to this to hear how they hell they decided this" decision because nobody can agree on what the category actually means, or they arbitrarily decide that it means something different this year because ???
-Brad goes "Oh come on" and basically argues that he's entitled to one category win because someone else was happy with an outcome
-Jeff gets a game in a prime spot on the list that only he cares about and nobody really argues against it
-Most Disappointing Game once again devolves into a semantics battle of whether a game is bad or whether it's just disappointing or whether that matters this year, as well as someone arguing that they personally weren't excited for it so it can't be disappointing - the final result is baffling
-Brad's arguments for or against a game begin to get so heated that he starts exaggerating claims to the point of pure falsehoods
-Someone introduces a joke category purely for a single thing they wanted to recognize
-Drew speaks up once to say his piece and then disappears into the background

This is actually pretty accurate

The Witness might end up #1 on some of those personal ballots and finding itself in the overall top 3. But I stick with my predictions.

I honestly can't see them picking anything else over doom for the top spot. Everybody played and loved the game and each one will gladly give up their preferred number 1 for doom as a compromise

Austin was great on the Bombcast/Beastcast because he actually brought some interesting views to the table. On Waypoint he is the leader and it just doesn't have the same effect; stopped listening a few weeks ago.
Waypoint needs another big dominant personality imo. Like they need a Jeff gerstman to bring the energy up

I miss Austin.

I won't miss him getting a game in the top 10 that no one else gave a fuck about because they took pity on the new guy.
Compared to Brad championing destiny for 2 years? Didn't he do that shit the following year of bringing it up all the time?

Austin can make a good argument fun argument even if half the world never heard of it.
As much as i miss Austin the fewer people to push Titanfall 2 the better.
He said his push would be Overwatch but wow I ain't taking this tf2 shade

Now I hope Gerstmann make the executive order and put titanfall 2 in top 3

While I am loving Waypoint Podcast, it suffers from the same problems Scoops and The wolf, in that there are interesting discussion with no counter points and everyone seems to agree with each other, making said argument one sided.

They just need another strong personality who brings another viewpoint to things and, even be Devils Advocate in some of the matters the discuss.

I'm ready baby, put it directly into my veins

my own personal "most disappointing" of the year is actually going to "SFV Being GB's most disappointing game of the year"

any time they start talking about street fighter my brain turns to static

Austin would crack under pressure and push Titanfall 2 in the end.

Luckily it seems like Jeff and Dan are the only ones who really, really care about Titanfall 2 and like i said pages ago i feel like Dan would push Hitman, Stardew or Overwatch before that. Also no Team Fortress 2 shade here that's a wonderful game ;p

Anyone know of good ps4 co-op games me and my brother can play while working our way through the hours of podcasts? Last year we played diablo 3 which was the perfect amount of mindless fun.

I don't understand the bellyaching about destiny being on the top 10.

Yeah, they complained about it a lot but it got Jeff to play a team based game enough to play 6 hour raids.

and at least dan also played a ton of it IIRC. It certainly wasn't something only brad liked or played.

Played all of The Division with my brother earlier this year and really enjoyed it. Though it's not as mindless as D3.

What's your guys' content consumption order? I always do podcast first to not spoil any of the award choices.

I got spoiled heavily last year since It takes me ages to get through the podcast. I am not doing that this year. I am not going to their website untill I listen to all podcasts

Ds3 legitimately doesn't really deserve a spot this time, though. It's not just Jeff, none of them seemed to like it very much. It'd be more strange if it did make the list.

- Brad says he hopes to play more of [game currently being discussed] over the break when everyone knows he won't
- Alex is the first to mention what his GOTY is because he knows it might be the only hope he has to get the crew to listen to his arguments
- Dan gets under Brad's skin by trying to cut a game he likes earlier than he's ready to accept
- Vinny doesn't argue one way or the other but asks a question that eventually determines a winner
- A game deserving of a Best Soundtrack spot gets cut because of poor choice in songs played
- Someone points out that Jeff has already bolded a winner in the midst of an ongoing debate
- Vinny states that every game on the list is great before they start cutting
- Jeff expresses discontent with the methodology being used to narrow their GOTY list down to 10 games
- Alex tries to knock down a game that's clearly going to stay where it is because he's somehow oblivious to the fact that everyone else really liked it
- The crew asks Drew where he stands on a stalemate despite having barely played either game but he manages to deliver a logical answer anyway

Cryingggg at these

If Brad had loved it with all it warts, put it at number 10 and be done with it. For me it was Brad talking badly about the game for 4 months, Jeff being kind of mad at it for wasted potential, Alex haaaaaaaating it and Dan and Drew disliking it. Other games that didn't make the list were games that 2-3 liked and others had no strong feeling about except for Brad because...Destiny.

I still listen to Waypoint, but i'm not a fan. Too too much anime talk for one thing. I think i'm close to unsubscribing for a bit

1.The game got shitted on for months
2. There was a another game everyone else played that should got the position instead
3. Brads argument was trash as it devolved into basically whining.

Also Dan played a bunch of Destiny after it was "fixed" with Taken King and that's was released after GOTY.
