On the one hand, I kinda hate that the only reason it got included is because "well, if we look at the reaction to all that stuff, it's clearly incredible." I do like this list to be Giant Bomb's list, not the end-all-be-all list.
On the other hand,
the witcher is fucking incredible and the fact that it doesn't get more love on this site is ridiculous. Especially Blood and Wine.

i don't see how SFV is a hotter mess than MM9. i mean, at least you get a good game, a game that has improved since launch and will continue to improve. like, who would stand up for MM9 after the poor game, terrible kickstarter and continued screw ups (like making another kickstarter)?
There's more to processing the podcasts (both Bombcast and GOTY) to get them ready for public consumption than that, but yeah, you've got the gist of it. The audio files are raw when they come out of the recorder -- they need to be leveled, have transitions cleaned up, off-air junk like mic checks cut out, ads produced and edited in, etc. etc. Now that we record "live" there's a misconception that I get a finished mp3 right after the show and throw it straight onto the site, but there's way more work to do before it's ready to go live than is probably obvious to the audience. That's what I was talking about with "editing" in that tweet.
In other words, I'm definitely not cutting any content out, it's all housekeeping to make them sound clean and not like a total mess. 100% of what was discussed is in the finished product.

Not sure I agree with the hottest mess. That shit could've hurt Occuluss/Palmer more than it actually did.
We haven't seen Palmer since...And that's pretty much the only thing that came out of that.

Ignoring anything that gets in the way of an unreasonably negative narrative is very 2016 of him.
Hottest Mess was sadly well deserved. Alex brought up great points and just listening to the passion he had behind it got me fired up as well. I understand not wanting to mix real life issues with the awards, but this one was so intertwined that its nearly impossible to do that.

Great start to the GOTY podcasts. Jeff on fire with that Palmer Luckey incident being hottest mess.
Having said that, while I agree with Witcher 3 being old GOTY, the way it got there was weird. Vinny didn't even particularly argue that strongly for it other than 'it's a really good game' and it won more so cos the others didn't really feel like arguing against it or for another game. But that's sorta keeping in with Giantbomb tradition though and I love it.
