Best Moment Spoilers:

I'm a huge DOOM homer, but I really think that the other three moments (titanfall, inside, Witness) are better than the first five minutes of DOOM.

Except Mario Galaxy 2 is better but talking Action games for a moment here yes, Mass Effect 2 is the best game of all time.

Ah shame, The Last Guardian is not in the discussion for best moment/sequence. Son, that game has moments. Not just one. Continuing on!

e: I also want to mention ME2. I loved that game to the point that I skipped on 3 just so it doesn't sour my experience with 1 & 2 and this is coming from someone who doesn't play a whole lot of RPG games.

I fucking loved Skyrim, but SR3 took that office by storm and really deserved the award given their tastes. Still a fun debate though.

I WILL GLADLY DIE ON THE MASS EFFECT 2 BOAT WITH VINNY

I simply don't understand the people who pooh-pooh ME2 and hold ME1 as better. ME2 is waaaaaay better in terms of gameplay AND story. I have a feeling the sins of the garbage pile that was ME3 somehow tainted people's memories of ME2, which isn't right.

Mass Effect 1 is worse than Mass Effect 2 in every single way and if you disagree you don't deserve Mass Effect 2.

HTH Titanfall didn't make top 3 when it has at least 3 top three moments during the course of the campaign is unforgivable.

Also Jeff spitting truth:
"All I'll say, is that Titanfall 2 is the best multiplayer game of the year, and you people are making a horrible mistake."

I'm with Jeff all the way on Inside. It was sorta cool but at a point it just felt like a chain of SO RANDUM moments. Literally nothing in the game makes any sense or has any explanation, that halfway through the game I just didn't care about what I was doing or what was going to happen, because I knew the game would blueball me at every turn.

Nah, I remember there was resentment over parts of ME2 that lead to skepticism about ME3 going into it.

I'm watching the Backward Compatibility category right now. Wasn't Catherine made BC? Because that's better than pretty much anything on that list, tied with Geo Wars.

Yep, lots of people saw the direction the games were going with ME2 and jumped ship then, including me.

ME2 is better than I give it credit for but I don't think it's anywhere near being a great game.

It feels like it. I really dig that type of music, personally. So it might be that more artist of that genre are getting gigs for games that want that type of music.

Blah, that 80s-pastiche synthwave thing hasn't been an interesting thing at all since at least Drive or Hotline Miami 1, and even then it was the weakest part of that game's soundtrack, that it dominates these awards so much is just really boring. Was hoping we'd moved past the shallow novelty of that whole style, like, as a society at this point. Would rather either of the runners up had won really.

Like, don't get me wrong, that first Justice album is still pretty great, but maaan.

I fail to see how the story in ME2 is better than ME1 when nothing really happens to advance the story in ME2. ME2 is essentially a bunch of pointless side missions.

I remember people resenting the more action-oriented path ME2 took compared to ME1 and I mean, sure they can dislike that. But hearing comments like Jeff's "Tell me about the Shepard" callback still makes it seem like people hold 3 against 2. Which is like holding Godfather 3 against Godfather 2, just saying.

ME1 is a competent RPG, ME2 is a below average TPS.

Well, unless you like linear maps with chest high walls strewn randomly around the map to give you cover.

As shitty as ME3's story is, it's an infinitely better "game" than ME2.

I feel vinny's frustration with people who've played little to none of a game but aggressively argue against it with uninformed opinions. I can understand if you don't enjoy a game enough that you quit early but just mention that instead of criticizing it unfairly. It's like playing through 1/3rd of games likes inside or last of us and missing some of the most essential parts of those games. I see it happen frequently on GB and everywhere else.

On another note glad
to see fury
win best music. Shame deus ex MD wasn't mentioned.

Having not played Clash Royale at all, is there a specific reason that Dan seems to constantly be egging on Brad to get back into it? Does he get stuff for recommending friends? Or does he just not want to feel the shame of being the only person there to relapse and get back into it?

If you remove Starchild I think Mass Effect 3 is a better game then Mass Effect 2


It did a good job adding to ME2's systems. Oh and ME1 was a big mess when it came to its gameplay / loot / RPG leveling systems.
