Two more tweets indicating said shitiness :

Based on these tweets, I'd venture a guess that the Sim City press release I just read was infinitely more entertaining than EA's #GDC talk.

Cool, cool, everyone excited about Sim City? Awesome. Now we're going to depress the shit out of you, because it's GDC.

@garywhitta Not sure, sounds like a Twitter exec talked and everyone took to twitter to lay into him and the whole event

I recall hopping on the stream for a bit and there was some talk about global warming... or something. Went on for a bit then I tuned out.

Might be that?

Man, what the heck happened in that event? Get to work, Patrick, find us the details!

There was nothing controversial, it was just fucking boring. They took 5min to announce Simcity and then spent an hour talking with one of the creator of Twitter and some environmentalist about greenhouse gas or whatever. I had the stream on mute and was reading the embedded twitter feed on the official website. It was hilarious to see everybody whine about the shitty show.

So do you any of you premium subscribers with iPads use Instacast HD for viewing WM's content?

Its something I'm VERY interested in, but through google I've found a lot of threads about people having problems with it. Specifically using the password protected RSS feeds, I guess.

Just wondering if anyone here has this setup, I'm all pumped for the new iPad.

I use the Whiskey Media Video Buddy. It's a free app which lets you either stream or download all video content, including premium stuff if you're a member. Works perfect.

Wow, this thing is awesome. I'm assuming you found it in the forums since that's what Google returns. They should promote this in their user-created area on the front page.

iTunes link.

Android link.

Event videos are never nearly as good as their other content.

Wow that is so much better than trying to browse the site for videos, especially older videos.

No TNT this week?

I guess they are busy getting drunk at GDC.

I'm watching the Random PC Game: Outcast video. The moment when Dave walks up to the guard and gets immediately gunned down is one of the funniest things I've ever seen (@53:45) The running animation, the chitchat just before and Dave's immediate reaction add up to make comedy magic.

No TNT?

No GDC podcasts?

Weird.

oh.. I just remembered all the awesome GDC podcasts they did last year.

Yeah GB really dropping the ball.

Whiskey has been weird the last few weeks. Tested has stopped doing daily video content and GB have been skipping a few games they said they where gonna QL.

Plus GDC has been going on a few days now and they haven't posted a single video / interview from the event and they are not doing doing TNT

Did a bunch of producers get whatever Will had?

I know Giant Bomb was a bit off with Jeff having to deal with family business. I'm not sure they expected him to make it to any GDC coverage at all. It's understandable that there wasn't something more substantial this year. Shit happens.

Don't follow Tested enough to know what's going on there.

They probably just had a busy week.

Well, I pitched Ryan a good idea for wrapping up GDC:

Get a bunch of devs to come over and stream them playing drunken Johann Sebastian Joust.

Huh, no GDC podcasts? That is pretty weird.

Oh, well. Next week's podcast will just have to be SIX HOURS LONG.

No TNT?

No GDC podcasts?

Weird.

I'm glad the crew was able to cancel TNT in order to hang out with their friends eating kettle corn in a hotel room while posting meme pics on twitter. Feels great to spend $50 supporting great content like that.

I agree, the last couple of weeks have been extremely weird, especially considering Jeff keeps talking about how "crazy" and "busy" things are. Usually when things are crazy and busy, we see the results of the craziness and business. I'm still holding out hope for something big, but I keep getting the feeling like they're resting on their laurels a little bit too much.

Cooking/music/book whiskey media site imminent?

Jeff's family situation, Ryan got engaged, GDC, etc. I'll agree there hasn't been much content on the site lately though.

Jeff's dad is in the hospital, I think? Maybe that's why. I just thought it was weird is all that there wasn't a GDC-cast, TNT, random ass PC game, etc. I'm hoping it means they have something big planned.

Honestly, events, not including E3, typically result in content I don't particularly care for. We usually get a few developer interviews, which result in no new info because it's so controlled by marketing plans. We get some Quick Look EX/Road Shows, which aren't nearly as entertaining as a typical Quick Look and we get some articles.

However, I'm sure these videos are popular with their broader audience. I'm sure it's important to go because that kind of coverage is important for those that actually go to the site as a news source.

Last year's GDC casts were pretty great. The guests, atmosphere, and discussion were really good. Not to mention a duet between Chris Remo and Dancing Tricaster Guy.

No GDC podcasts is certainly bizarre, considering Ryan appeared to be looking for guests on Twitter. At least Idle Thumbs picked up their slack, ha.

ah, the downsides of having a personality driven website.

I try not to think too much about the behind the scenes goings-ons or their personal lives but the stuff will definitely come up more frequently for a site like Giantbomb when new content slows down.

I do think it would be disappointing if they went to GDC and we don't get some decent interviews, videos or podcasts out of it shortly. Content has been sparse the last week.

No thanks. The JSJ segment of the BLLSL was tortuously boring. It may be fun to actually play it but it is dull as all Jesuses to watch.

You do this every week. Just look at the release calendar or if any events are happening and you have a fairly good idea what the week is going to have.

Oh, whats happening with Jeff?

Tested being a bit 'empty' was due to Will being super sick. The con of having a '2 man team'.

I'm pretty sure we will see some gdc videos appearing this week and next.

They've been putting 2 or 3 hour long premium only videos on a weekly basis...what's wrong with you?

I have do much to catch up on :(

...what's wrong with you?

Nothing, the site content has been below average amount the past two to three weeks, absolute fact, despite the fact that there yes, indeed is some content. Then they cancelled TNT "because of GDC" and instead tweeted photos of them hanging out in a hotel room partying during what would have been TNT time. There was a lot of content mentioned that hasn't appeared on the site at all yet. Just wondering what's going on, that's all.

I don't want to support a site with my money if they are going to skip out on normal features in order to party with their friends who happen to be in town and make excuses about it. I want them to prove me wrong.
