Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

Giant Bomb is acutally pretty damn awesome when it comes to acknowledging user created content. They clearly spend a good chunk of time reading their forums and they should be commended for that. Because some of those threads, just...man.

While we are talking the P4 ER... I still haven't played persona 4.

Maybe if I get a vita and the golden is brought over
Same here. I am a bizarre person that never had a PS2. I owned a Dreamcast so I was spiteful about the PS2 basically killing that off. Then I bought an Xbox in 02' and never got a second console that generation. I only ever borrowed friend's PS2s or played it at their house.

If Persona 4 is brought to Vita I may I have to buy one.

I was going to save the P4 Endurance Run for when The Golden came out and watch it alongside my playthrough. Not so sure I can wait that long anymore.

You'll hate doing that when you're playing through The Golden's new content and there's no commentary for it. Watch it nooooooooooowwww

I'll go ahead and suggest this is a bad idea. The Chrono Trigger ER happened to coincide with a replay I was in the middle of, so I decided to wait on them and try to play along with them and found that it's really hard to try and keep pace with another person playing a JRPG.

Sometimes they die too, and spend days fishing and doing other random stuff, so unless someone managed to copy what they were doing they'd probably see different scenes and fuse different personas anyway. So it would be even harder to keep at the same pace.

Yeah, whether you watch it now or later, make sure that you watch the P4 endurance run eventually. It's by far the funniest and most entertaining content GB has produced yet. It starts a bit slow but picks up pretty fast.

SO SO AWESOME :D

for people easier to see:

Nothing, the site content has been below average amount the past two to three weeks, absolute fact, despite the fact that there yes, indeed is some content. Then they cancelled TNT "because of GDC" and instead tweeted photos of them hanging out in a hotel room partying during what would have been TNT time. There was a lot of content mentioned that hasn't appeared on the site at all yet. Just wondering what's going on, that's all.

I don't want to support a site with my money if they are going to skip out on normal features in order to party with their friends who happen to be in town and make excuses about it. I want them to prove me wrong.

Then don't.

Assuming that you have enough free time to fill, I'd consider both the P4 and Vinny/Jeff Deadly Premonition Endurance Runs to be essential viewing. I found myself laughing more on a given episode of those than I do while watching almost anything else.

The Vinny and Jeff Deadly Premonition Endurance Run is my favorite piece of Giant Bomb content. Absolute fucking gold. All of it.

Although Brad and Ryan's DP ER was pretty good too. I was crazy enough to watch both at the same time.

EDIT: I remember now that's the one I watched as they were first going through it, that's why I watched both. I actually went back and watched the Persona 4 Endurance Run after Deadly Premonition once I saw what was so awesome about the ERs.

You should really just start from the beginning. It's honestly the best thing I've ever seen on the internet.

There are portions you can tune out, like some of the lengthy grinding sessions, but most of it is hysterically funny.

Fusion episodes were great, and by great, I mean incredibly tedious.

Vinny and Jeff are just lucky I like the sounds of their voices. I think I've fallen asleep listening to them joking about Persona fusing.

It's perfect for having on in the background while you're doing homework, I find.

Interesting.

Tested.com has a story about that Kara demo before Giantbomb does.

that brings Whiskey Medias GDC coverage up to ...(drum roll)..... 3 written stories.

Here is hoping for some videos next week.

I want to know what Speed tree is up to this year. They lost there deal with Bethesda so I am sure they have something to prove. In fact I hope we get the traditional GiantBomb tour of the GDC floor

And I hope with the hiring of serious game journalist Patrick Klepick that we will see some mature stories and interviews with industry people this year.

Also they really did a great job last year at GDC. nightly podcasts, A interview with Sweary. a few show floor videos. rewatching the sweary video now.

Moan about the lack of videos and podcasts over GDC but they also haven't been on fire with the written stuff ether.

Nothing about that Kara demo. nothing about the new Unreal, nothing about the Pez guy who said all japanese games suck, Nothing about that shitty Vita event in japan. Nothing about the NPD's.

But at least Patrick was at GDC talking dumb pics with the Hormonix guys. Real professional game journalism going on there.

Why would you want to read an article about any of that?

Here I'll write them Kotaku style for you.

Hey guys Phil fish was mean to Japan *sadface.

Hey guys here is a bunch of npd numbers stolen from the gaf thread.

Hey guys Sony had a vita event that had nothing important.

Also unreal guys are saying their new shit will be awesome, what a shocker right? Thought they might say it sucks.

You're welcome.

Maybe he should have contacted Phil fish and ask him to comment on that mess. That seems like something smart to do. It seems to be a Klepick trademark to go into super detail when ever something dumb happens. His overblown Uncharted 8/10 coverage, his story about that SFxT sexist thing being the examples that jump to mind.

NPD's... well normally not very important with the launch of a new system I think it was something worth reporting on.

Shocking that I would want gaming coverage on a gaming site during one of the biggest gaming events of the year I know. Its not like they hired a dedicated news guy for this very purpose and sent him to the damn event or anything....

Hopefully we see some fruits of them going to GDC this coming week. I dont even know which of them actually went this year.

Also Jeff said he was sick and couldn't interview Tony Hawk and missed most of the show but Patrick apparently went to a bunch of talks so hopefully he has something to report next week. Hopefully they do another floor tour video. With all these developers showing off there next gen tech I want to know what the next gen holds for Speed Tree and Giantbomb is my go to site for Speed Tree coverage.

Does anyone really give a shit what Phil Fish thinks? About Japanese gaming or about making comments about Japanese gaming? The less articles the better, I say.

Content has been light on the site these last few weeks for sure, but that's ok. Not every night is taco night.

Reporting on self-important forum "outrage du jour" stuff like this Phil Fish nonsense is exactly what GB doesn't and shouldn't do, and they're a better site for it. Go to Kotaku if you want your GAF ego stroked.

Anyway their lack of GDC coverage is perfectly fine. This hasn't been an eventful GDC, they can just fit everything in on the next bombcast.

Thank you. Somebody tell Patrick this so he knocks it the hell off. GB getting turned into a gossip rag.

I hope they do, the panels that I've seen mentioned on GAF and Twitter all sound rather interesting (bar SimCity, lol). That's what I want, I just want plenty of developer chatter and panel round-ups.

I could get it from elsewhere, probably. I haven't checked Gamasutra in a while...

OK now I'm a little irked that there hasn't been any video content since early on Thursday. Hoping for an influx of new content this week.

Can't believe some people are moaning about this... One of the senior editors on the site has his dad in hospital! They're a small team, chances are this has hit them pretty hard. Any other walk of life and someone in that position would be given compassionate leave.

There's been no new video content for 3 working days. The membership is $50 a year, so you've missed out on what, 50/60 cents? What about when E3 rolls around and you'll get more content than you can watch in a week?

C'mon, give the guys a break. It seems fairly obvious to me that Jeff's at the head of whatever projects were being worked on, so they can't get it ready quite yet.

You thought that shit was overblown but you still want a story on Phil Fish's only slightly dumb story that Inafune basically repeated a day later?

That's the thing that's a little surprising me. Is there really no one else to step in Jeff's place when he's out? That might be asking a bit much when you only have that many people I guess.

Totally understandable that Jeff is out. Not questioning that all.

I'm just being impatient is all. If anything this just shows how much we enjoy their content that we go into withdrawal when it's away for only 3 days.

EDIT:
You also better believe that have my 50 bucks a year as long as they are a functioning site.
