Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

KongRudi is a bad person and should feel bad. I do comprehend that this can come off as quite a shock when everything you've seen or read before came from the Sony blog or other corporate-sponsored previews. Their reaction and reception of the Vita launch was slightly more positive than my own, so yeah.

yay Vita extravaganza

The stream is alright so far (up to Wipeout now) - I know the bad stuff is yet to come, but so far it's pretty solid.

Personally, I see nothing on the Vita that makes me want to buy it. Same with the 3DS. I'm pretty disappointed with this new handheld generation, will have to wait until the tail end when the libraries are fleshed out.

I can accept so-called firehose-journalism, but it would be better if the journalists weren't ignorant of the topic they're covering.
I came here, and gave positive and negative feedback, on what I tought of the stream.

I didn't comment on the games, what they showed is what they showed - and this is the giantbomb thread, not asslicking-thread. :-/
I did give my opinion on both negative and positive things I tought of this giantbomb quicklook episode, after I had seen the entire thing. :)

If you must know what I felt about the games they showed, the Wipeout quicklook parts were as good as they could be, with server-down/or not good enough wifi-connection or whatever were wrong. :-/
And even tough I wished they'd shown more of the treasure-hunting aspects of the game and blackmarket of Uncharted, I can see that they shouldn't show it if it were spoilers..
I'm mostly looking forward to Hotshots tough.

I've seen alot of coverage of other places, to allready be decide on those games.
The people I usually listen to, says Uncharted:GA is not a great game at the start, but get's alot better lateron, when Sully comes along.
It's more about the treasure hunter-aspects than the PS3-games.

Content-wise, I didn't complain - because I didn't go there to see a review, or validating my future Vita, or eventual future games-purchase, as most people think I did.
I went there to see gameplay, and to learn more about the games, I might buy.

It were when they were showing the rest of the games, and when answering questions from chat - when they weren't busy talking about offtopic things - it took a sharp quality dive compared to most earlier quicklooks, I've seen, in my opinion.

The rest of the games, where basically only showing a small clip of somewhere in the singleplayer-campaign. They didn't even enter menu's to see what's there for the most part. Sure, I get that there were alot of games they covered, but they made it seem like it weren't anything else.

As for the liveshow, it were a nice chat, but not really great if you had interest in Vita, or gaming. I were hoping to see, some of the features of games I am on the fence about, like if the drop-in/dropout coop in Dark Quest, particulary if the screen stop, if someone multitask and the other players try to advance. I might buy it at the right price, but am undecided.
They only showed single-player, wich is fine, I can search for more gameplay elsewhere.

But it's annoying to hear they complain is that it's a hack'n slash coming from Iphone, and then the only thing they see is the first dungeon, instead of features wich aren't common on Iphone.
I get I weren't watching a review - or that it's not their job to sell me on the game.
But the reason I go to quick-look, is to get a quick-look at the game, not to validate any purchase..

What I did complain about however, where the 3 hosts - they didn't seem to have prepared for doing the show at all.
The chat were asking questions about Vita, but they ignored that for the most part and participated only in other topics, wich they seemed to find more interesting, and when they did answer something - they got their answers wrong.

Even stuff wich is covered in the minigame-software tutorial, as if the device got a microphone or not, none of the 3 so-called firehose videogame-journalists, were surprised when Jeff said he didn't think there were one, despite the thing is clearly beeing demonstrated in the software tutorial minigames wich shows the new stuff on this platform.

I don't expect them to like the things I do, but I think if they should ceover the device, they should atleast try to familirize themselves with it.

I'd rather have them hating on it and having fun than just dragging their dicks around for the sake of doing it. Patricks ambivalence made him more unbearable than when he opens his mouth.

It was like a 4 1/2 hour show. They could've gone more in-depth, but that would've been crazy. Besides, I'm sure they'll do dedicated Quicklooks of certain games if they feel it's warranted.

And they only answer a select few questions from the chat, since there tend to be about 5,000 raving lunatics in there and it's impossible to answer everyone. But you really expect them to study the Vita fact sheet for hours before putting on a live show, just so they're prepared to field any and all questions from the chat? Newsflash: everyone in that chat is sitting in front of A COMPUTER, and is 100% capable of typing their question into Google and quickly finding an answer.

You seem incredibly preoccupied with the impression that they've misrepresented this product that you hold so near and dear. You try to deny it, but it's so readily transparent. They were just there to show us a quick cross-section of the Vita launch games, nothing more.

Actually, my top GB moment has got to be the Daggerfall Random PC Game when that skeleton would. not. stop. screaming. Vinny and Dave having to yell over it to hear one another was hysterical, I couldn't breathe.

I love those random quick look moments and it seems that the PC games create the best ones. I really loved it when there was a spear stuck in Drew's back on the Mount & Blade quicklook.

I needed to pause it when that happened, I totally lost it. I am not even sure what's happening - I guess they left it in for kicks.

The Daggerfall skeleton screams are probably my favorite sound effects ever. So fucking intense, and it doesn't make any goddamn sense that a skeleton can scream.

I tuned in half way through that and shat my pants. Had to turn it off to let my heart rate settle before watching the rest of it.

Man, one thing that gets me about Giant Bomb is how quickly their user cookie expires. So tired of entering in my user/pass all the time.

I don't have a clue how my shit's configured in Chrome but when my cookie expires all I have to do is click the log in button and it logs me in and refreshes the page I was last on all in one click. This happens on all Whiskey sites.

Hmm. Safari still takes me to the login page. The forms auto fill but it's still annoying.

Also on Mobile Safari it doesn't autofill at all, so I have to enter in credentials all the time.

yay patrick is on TNT as well.

would think he would be live streamed out this week after the vita stream.

PlayStation exclusive game tonight. If hardly anyone turns out, then no-one can complain about the dearth of PS3 TNTs ever again.

maybe ps3 players dont play on TNT because GB dont have ps3 games on TNT that often so they dont keep a eye on it.

edit. Twisted metal currently has busted online? great... they are never gonna do a ps3 TNT ever again now.
