It isn't the first time they had a large ad like that. I think they had a similar ad for Gears 2 and something big for ODST or Halo Reach. I think they're ugly as hell but I don't see a reason to get bent out of shape over an ad.

Load Our Last Save: Halo is good if you have some nostalgia for that game
The Running Of The Lanterns (1 | 2) is really good nailbiting stuff
Random PC Game: Police Quest: SWAT is amazing
Breaking Brad: Geometry Wars' is a nice one too
Will vs. Norm vs. LEGO is a good thing to watch ahead of The Endurance Test
Also, Will's "Not a Jar" videos are arguably more interesting the Jeff's (Matt Rorie's Screened one is fun to, although strays of topic a lot)
Making a Screened Video Feature is a good look behind what goes into making Whiskey videos in general
