They are trying to run a video game website that's profitable and competes with the biggest sites out there. Most of this depends on making a very large quantity of original video content. A lot of it which can get pretty elaborate. Wrapped around that is your typical gaming event coverage and reviews. They are trying to achieve a lot with an extremely lean staff and on a budget. I'd imagine that would cause a pretty big workload, a lot of it which you'll never see the results of yourself.

I'm so very close to ordering a flight stick and TrackIR. I can kinda sorta justify the second one because I've already spent crazy money on a racing wheel, at least.
 
Maybe something happened at the offices? They have a podcasting setup at Dave's house there.

I also expect some sort of Giant Bomb SFxT scrub league.
 
i was a bit miffed about the lack of content during GDC but if they are using the sweet sweet subscriber money to have a chili day at Dave's house then thats something I can get behind.

To be fair, the instructions only says to use half a cup at first. Personally I would just cook it in a regular pot and just cook it down until it thickened (and I'd add 1-3 tablespoons of worcestershire sauce, because it fucking rocks in chili!).
 
as I clicked on the Journey review, somehow I knew it would be Alex reviewing. It doesn't make it any less disappointing. It's nothing against Alex, really, but it's the core-Giant Bomb team I read the site for.

I don't think reviews are what most people "read" Giantbomb for.

I put some dark chocolate in my chili to help thicken/give it a richer flavor.

IMO Alex is probably better at writing reviews than most of the other guys though.
 
Dammit. I hate derailing this thread, but I just loaded up Giant Bomb to check out the SFvT Quick Look. Strange thing was I immediately started to hear a commercial, for Burger King? Sure enough, lower on the page a Burger King commercial was playing. Sigh.

I don't mind ads (well I wouldn't I should say, I'm a subscriber but was just logged out at the moment), but ones that automatically play sound? That shit has to go. And fast.

I regard reading anything by Alex as a great delight, I guess his overall style just matches my sense of humour pretty well.
