I'm happy with what I heard from Jeff and I just hope Giantbomb keeps that same kind of chemistry they've had for the last 4+ years. I just don't want a lot of the Gamespot fellas to filter in and ruin that chemistry, that's my only fear but if it's good, whatever, I'm up for it.

So, we can confirm the big wigs from Gamespot/CNet back in 2007 were full of shit when they said, "Oh no, the Kane & Lynch review totally had nothing to do with why we fired him."

What a bunch of scumbags.

GS and GB are completely different sites in terms of style, content, and community and If they keep them separate, I can see them complementing each other pretty nicely.

Good luck Giant Bomb :)

What the fuck is going on? I just walked into this.

Watching that justin.tv thing. Not sure how I feel about all that. Good luck though!

The Eidos (and presumably Sony [and most other publishers out there]) management was just as awful. And the Gamespot and IO guys had to pay for it.

This was a great move for all involved.
A neat little video to clear up any confusion, makes both websites look good, and removes the obvious tension between them.

I look forward to the coming GB content.

You were! Some of us aren't so quick to jump on things. We have these things called hesitations. And there is a good reason for it.

I agree, I had them too. Before the stream went live going back to CBS seemed like madness to me! But they seemed happy with it at Dave's house which is what won me over. :)

1UP really hurt; I don't want to see that happen again!

I'm not the biggest Giantbomb fan but it certainly ranks leagues ahead of GS. I hope nothing changes because GB is in another league in my eyes compared to GS.

Glad today has ended so well. Loving the prospect of GB continuing to be GB, and I'm in the minority of looking forward to some GS people popping up too.
I'm down with new people. Davison seems pretty alright.

People always complain about them omitting various genres of games from their coverage. More people means more coverage. Klepek seemed to bring a lot of video coverage of handheld games to the site the past few months, and I'm sure some of the Gamespot editors will do the same. Just the other day people were posting things like "Why even do a Street Fighter x Tekken Quick Look if they don't know how to play it well?!" Maybe Gamespot has a fighting game loving editor who can help them out in the future like Rorie did with Dark Souls.

It doesn't really matter to me, since I'm mostly on board with Giant Bomb because of the personalities of the crew, but to those people who have complained about lack of/poor coverage in the past the possibility of the other staff dropping by should be good news.

I swear John Davison is like the #1 turnaround consultant in Games Journalism

he just legitimized GameSpot again in one fell swoop

I really hope the GB guys get full freedom with the video equipment.

I know they will have to share at times and there will be conflict, you know how people are seeing people come in onto their turf.

Rorie just tweeted a picture of him getting ready to drink by himself in response to Ryan going out for drinks.

:( :( :(

I feel for the guy, but there is a limit. I feel maybe he shouldn't have done this, until we know a little more about the whole situation.

Pat is practically the only reason we get any nintendo stuff at all.

I feel real sorry for him. seems like he doesn't know what's happening to screened. Must be pretty shitty seeing these guys you worked with incredibly happy and hyped about their future and you being on the scrap heap.

It's always been part of Giantbomb's identity that they do not care or pretend to care about each and every genre and fan favorite. I don't like the idea of bringing in guys just to have someone that cares.

Yeah Jeffs enthusiasm on the pancake stream made me way less nervous, he looked super pleased about everything.

I tried to cheer up Rorie in twitter . Got a good reply. Hopefully, they're trying to help him behind the scenes. He worked at Gamespot before as well. They won't just dump him....I hope.

If it stops them from having angry fanboys yell at them on a weekly basis: "WHY DIDN"T YOU COVER TEH LATEST ALTIER EROTICA RPG YOU XBOTS???" I'm all for it.

To be honest, it's the best thing they could have done. I'm amazed they got permission to do it. Makes me feel a lot better about the whole deal, and I've just loaded up www.gamespot.com for the first time since all this shit went down.

I'm not going to start to frequent that site again just due to this. I still go to GB from time to time and get my fill as their video content is great. As I said, as long as they remain untouched and do what they do better than GS or anyone else then I'm fine.

I'm still not happy. I'm waiting to see if it proves true that I'll never have to give Gamespot a single hit or a single second of my time. Somehow I doubt it.

I just relogged into my account on Gamespot.. that I forgot existed.

Jeff seems like he is happy with this, and that means I will support giantbomb..

just think what could happen with that virtual set

Flames...everywhere

I'm sure he's happy about a pay check he's probably getting out of it. And I'm not saying it will end terribly, but just because Jeff's happy doesn't mean the site couldn't be negatively impacted in the future.

We'll just have to wait and see, but right now Jeff being happy means nothing as to the state of Giant Bomb in a year or two.

If it's like Jeff's example of Vinny liking Dark Souls and bringing in someone who also likes DS then that's fine. As long as a Giantbombers interest is the catalyst for some GS crossover.

But I don't think it'll be a big worry. They seem pretty clear cut about wanting the separation and having an idea of what GB content is vs. GS content.

That's the main thing. Let them keep on keepin' on.

I'm not going to start trawling Gamespots content, but the actual fact I'm willing to actually view the site, rather than block it via opendns? That's a start.

Jeff doesn't have a beef, that means I'll give a fresh start and judge on the content I guess.

Screened isn't going to CBS, that's the thing. The other sites were sold to another company, and from the sound of things they want the infrastructure rather than the content.
