Wow, some of the shit you guys said to him is way worse than what he said. All he said is that he felt the bombcast was better without Patrick.
But how will they get invited to play vidja gaems with gb if they don't defend everything they do?

The problem is that a certain section of the Giant Bomb fanbase completely delude themselves into thinking they have a serious, personal relationship with these guys to a scary level. So naturally, whenever someone makes a legit critcism in a professional manner, they jump like someone just came at their Mom with a knife.
like, I honestly don't give a fuck, but it just frustrates me that people go on the Internet and say weird shit about actual people with jobs that you don't even pay them for.
And a certain section talk shit about others to feel better about themselves.
Honestly I'm just frustrated that this keeps coming up, not specifically at this last dude
"I don't like patrick because so and so"
"I don't like Jeff because he says this and that"

This is more "I hate a lot of the human race" thing more than "fuck that one guy" for me. idk, I need to see a therapist or something idk

I'm firmly in the been better without him camp, purely because I feel that the original four have this chemistry which has built up over a very long period of time and it's very natural. Patrick comes across as uncomfortable in the Bombcast situation and I think it doesn't do him justice.
I've noticed that he's been submitting work on the site in his absence, quietly doing what he was hired to do in the first place which is news and features and it says a lot about him that he's continued to contribute to the site when it would be perfectly understandable given his circumstances not to. He deserves some kudos for that, no question but I just don't get his inclusion on the Bombcast, it just doesn't fit for me. I still listen but it doesn't have that same hit as before.
There again I realise this is probably too well realised opinion that I've come to after giving it some serious thought over the past year or so *shrugs*
How dare you be so insensitive! Why can't you just keep these things to yourself! Other assorted white-knight phraseology!

I really hope that QLEX isn't the last we see of P4:Arena on the site.

Tbh I think the bigger concern is the one that's been expressed elsewhere in this thread about how since the buyout things don't seem 100% going their way (like many others I missed the Radio Show on Friday, want to hear more about the frustrations expressed there).
actually it sounded more like the typical office environment issues of nobody taking the initiative unless it directly affects them. vinny insomuch as confirmed this when he said he just started taking furniture apart in some room and nobody has yet to say anything.Oh, totally.
I think they ended up running smack-dab into the red-tape bureaucratic nightmare of the corporate world in general, which many folks were talking about in fear back when Whiskey and its backers ran out of money or just saw an opportunity for some good profit from the sale. It's hard to get any clear picture of what's been going on over there now, but it's pretty obvious that the resources they envisioned and waxed a tad lyrical about haven't managed to materialize.
The corporate world moves like molasses, doubly so in relation to an outfit like Giant Bomb, who don't have a whole lot of formal protocol or hierarchy. With any luck the site redesign will coincide with other bits of progress as well.
You know what's mindful of his situation? Not bringing up that the Bombcast is better now that he hasn't been on it for a while. It doesn't matter how he said it.Yeah, god forbid the guy express his opinions respectfully WHILE being mindful of Patrick's personal situation. That effort gets him a "Your opinions suck cock" in response.
I'm far from being in the GB defense force, don't single out the guy who throws epithets around...Stay classy, Giant Bomb defense force.
This is about being a decent human being and would apply to just about anyone something like this was directed at. ("Public figure", my ass.) If he'd gone on vacation, fine, mouth off. But that's a far cry from being aware of why he's gone, realizing (at least in theory) that it is a sensitive topic, and then still feeling like it's OK to mention how his absence improved the Bombcast. How aware are you, really? The problem is that a certain section of the Giant Bomb fanbase completely delude themselves into thinking they have a serious, personal relationship with these guys to a scary level. P4A probably wouldn't make for a good TNT anyway. If they play with the community chances are all you are going to see is matches against Chie and the chat would just be filled with people repeating Endurance Run memes over and over.
Oh, totally.

also, just an observation: some of the past few bombcasts (sans patrick) have been some of their best in recent memory. just saying.

I attribute that to the lack of anything in gaming. Maybe he'd have plenty of stuff to add to the conversations about arcade cabs, number stations, and the other random stuff that's better than forcing themselves to talk about whatever is coming out during the drought.
No, it doesn't. It's clear that they read this thread at least. Patrick himself has shown up as well, so don't give me this bullshit about whatever personal delusions you've dreamed up for anyone whose opinions you don't agree with, however logical it may sound in your mind. It's a sensitive point if you were talking to Patrick Klepek directly, not when you're respectfully stating an opinion on a thread designed to discuss all things Giant Bomb. Your mentality goes back to my original point of people thinking they are actually friends with the GB guys.
this is mostly my problem. five talking heads is one too many. almost everybody's personal quirks get worse when it's over 4 people.I'd attribute it to being only 4 people podcasts again. Without having to put in one more person's opinions, regardless of who that other person is, there's a lot more breathing room to go on tangents and get deeper into certain topics.

You original point is bullshit. No one here thinks they are friends with anyone on Giant Bomb. They just realize the poor taste of "Gee it's awesome without Patrick since his dad died" comments.
Yeah because that is TOTALLY what the original dude said. :/
I already went over why that hardly makes it better. But since we've begun going in circles, I'll leave it at that and go play video games instead. At any rate, what the guy said was not in bad taste. If you think it is, you're overreacting greatly. The guy went out of his way to mention that he wasn't making light of Patrick's unfortunate personal situation. He also expressed his opinion without being rude or disrespectful.

I'm very curious what the Big Live Live Show Live will be like this time around. Hopefully, it pushes some things forward. Considering it's main purpose is to push memberships it'll be easier for them to get some things through whatever red tape has been slowing them down.
Except that nobody said what you're asserting they said. Wording, tone, and intention matter in discourse, and no one said it was awesome that someday died. Quote me the poster's words, rather than just stating your interpretation and attributing it to them.
The Bombcast has been excellent lately, but I mostly attribute that to Patrick's absence (I know it's because of unfortunate circumstances, but I haven't enjoyed his contributions to the Bombcast for the past year or so).
It's obvious, and that's why the first five responses were what they were.
Awesome = excellent
Patrick's absence = without Patrick
Unfortunate circumstances = his father passing away

What is wrong with that? What's wrong with saying memes, and people having fun with Chie? The community having fun together with the GB crew, isn't that what TNT is about? Seriously, a new Persona 4 game is out, and for Giantbomb should be having it for TNT. WTF is up with doing Tribes?? FPS games make the most BORING tnts imo.
EDIT: And you know there would be no shortage of people wanting to play the game on TNT. You say the chat would be full of nothing but memes...well now the chat will be nothing but people upset that it's not P4A.
The place they were holed up in really was the first thing that killed my expectations of the "resources" GB was supposed to have now. That place looked dingy as fuck.
From all indications, the dingyness of that place was all on GB. They wanted a cool place near the convention for people to come hang out and have a drink, and they ended up with the serial killer storefront.

I also believe that they only started looking late. Keep in mind, they were in limbo for a while there, because the sale was in the process for a few months prior. So they knew Whiskey was going to be gone, so they had no idea what sort of budget they'd have.
Do they even really need memberships at this point? They're under the GS umbrella now. Personally I can't really justify subscribing again this year especially after they nerfed my favorite feature (the old I Love Mondays.)I'm very curious what the Big Live Live Show Live will be like this time around. Well video feature yeah.I Love Mondays was your favorite feature?
That's like saying your favourite meal at a restaurant is the menu...Well video feature yeah.
Jeff's Choppy-Ass Livestream said:It might be a litle premature to say "No Persona TNT"...
