Giant Bomb Thread #4: A thread of perceived slights

That thing they suggested on Professional Wednesday where Vinny and Ryan get tutored on Starcraft 2 and then do a match against each other sounds like a superb idea for an episodic premium content. Too bad it looks like Ryan doesn't seem to give a shit about creating content worth paying for.

The one where Nappa suplexed Gabe and the ring broke?

If that's what you're talking about, it's very rare for AI to do it. It's an instant-win if they pull it off, but it requires them to store up their finishers. AI wrestlers usually do finishers as soon as possible.

It happened twice didn't it? First Nappa did it to Gabe, and then later Gabe did it to Nappa, so it would seem to maybe be related to the character weight (subtle unintentional fat joke?).

Ok, Vinny is on my shit list. He described Thief's stealth as "Draconian." He is wrong and I shan't forgive him for it

Kidding, obviously. But that's underselling how damn good Thief's stealth is.

It's just another case of them talking about something they really aren't familiar with. The Thief games (the first two at least), are the opposite of everything they seem to hate about stealth games.

Aside from one or two fail-on-sight missions, being caught never forces you to re-load a save - you can run back to the shadows, hide, and continue the mission after that. You'll only be re-loading saves if you're going for a perfect run without being seen (somewhat of a pointless endeavour since it matters so little).

As for the combat being shitty! Yeah, you're a thief, not a soldier, so you're not going to want to engage in combat - but the combat is actually pretty good when it's just one on one sword fighting. You have active blocking and light/heavy attacks, and you can dodge, and the AI is pretty smart too.

It's crazy that they think people like the Thief games because it's another trial-and-error stealth game. It's just not that type of game.

I didn't watch but someone told me they took a ten min break for some obnoxious douchebag from GS to just beg people to watch their shitty videos? On the Wednesday show I mean.

Oh lawd.

The Wednesday thing was great this week. I really like the GS dude who hosts it. I'd trade him for Fuck Ryan any day of the week.

It was also cool to see someone who know how to play StarCraft on a GB stream!

There was a guy advertising GameCribs for way too long that lead to them going to the wrong site which was kind of funny lol.

That 'douchebag' was Ryan MacDonald. He goes way back with the guys, dude was fucking crying on camera when Gerstmangate went down.

He jumped in for like 10 minutes to talk about their upcoming live shows while Vinny and Ryan jokingly took the piss out of eSports.

Is that really a big deal?

I didn't watch, it's why I asked. Aka I have no idea if it was a big deal or not.

Relax

It seems Vinny invited him on the show because he wanted to know what he was up to, since he'd see him in the office constantly crazy busy organising all of this stuff. What resulted wasn't great watching, but I don't begrudge it happening.

I started watching the archives last night.

I love that there's a "feud" between Gabe and Nappa.

And both of their entrance themes are incredible.

The GS dudes were quite good IMO and fit right in with the Giantbomb crew. The host and the Maxwell dude are awesome.

I don't know, it seemed like the GS guy that was playing ARMA3 kept getting interrupted and didn't seem comfortable.

He also had a hell of a time explaining anything while playing which is essentially 99% of what Giant Bomb does

he's trying to explain Arma.

What's the name of the horror iOS game that they were talking about towards the end of the show. With the jump scares and the great atmospheric sound.

I was half asleep during that part and am not sure where in the episode it was. As I fell asleep I remember thinking, 'that game sounds good'.

Year Walk

lol. So on TNT when they're talking about Jeff peeing on a boxspring he's like "nah, that was in Santa Rosa, you don't do that in your home town." SR is where I live. I'm not sure that would fly in the circles I run in though.

Professional Wednesday was MUCH BETTER this week, and I'm not even sure why.

I love me myself some Ryan McDonald. He was pretty good back on "on the spot" days. I'm glad he made an appearance.

I'm excited for today's Unprofessional Fridays - as far as I'm concerned, it's the best show Giantbomb produces.

Nah, he only played two games. One 1v1 and a 4v4 with some pros.

Brad kind of exaggerated. I think Domorin was in the NA grandmaster league at one point but most of the other guys were masters league players that probably hadn't played in a while. There's a pretty big difference between the guys that compete in tournaments and masters league.
