Giant Bomb Thread #4: A thread of perceived slights

Vinny/Patrick combo is only good when Vinny is driving. Patrick usually feels obligated to over explain a game when he's on the wheel but it's the opposite when he's with Vinny. He basically becomes an enabler and asks him to do more dumb stuff.

I agree. Patrick loves to over explain and flaunt his knowledge when in control. He also interrupts a ton, the Viking game quicklook where Jeff tries to ask a simple question 7-8 times was excruciating. Vinny doesn't seem to care about the technical reasons why a game is good or bad so even when Patrick is involved the quicklooks become "do you think we can do this?" videos.

I wonder if Brad has spent any real time with the Dota MP options. It seems so weird for him to say the MP updates are up to snuff given how thoroughly Valve has destroyed them in terms of community features, in-client streaming and general organization. I don't disagree with his review, I love the game, but man I wish Blizzard would ape some of Valve's MP features.

do people expect giantbomb reviews though?

I mean its so easy to get a read on what they're playing and wether they like it or not by just following the site. Giantbomb's the one site that really puts into perspective if Reviews are even that relevant (for the public, not dev/publishers) anymore.

Jeff comments about reviews in the site implies that, yes, they do.

they always come as sort of a surprise for me, and they are getting few and far between yet I dont see much of an outcry to that

yet people will bother the crew about a NeverDead quicklook for a long-ass time

that's kind of the thing I mean

Quick Looks don't assign scores, nor do podcast discussions, and some people REALLY want to see that numerical representation on how good or bad a game is. There are many reasons as to why users want that, but they, sadly, do.

The Gears review banner in the top slot looks really gnarly. Guess that's the highest resolution screenshot they have of that game and it just scaled up.

Edit: Jeff mentioned that he's on it in the comments.

Brad's refusal to actually put time into Dota 2 is the most frustrating thing for me right now. It's so good, and he'd fall in love with it, but he's never bothered to give it any sort of chance.

Gotta say, that Arma 3 quicklook was fucking amazing. By the end it just felt like a fever dream, between land boats, gun thieves, vinny birds and scuba guy. It had a secret Flight Club that gave me full blown motion sickness, and it was just filled with amazing moments throughout.

I've played a bit of Arma 2 in the past, and had already logged 15 hours in Arma 3 by the time the QL went up, so I was just saying to myself, "oh man I can't wait til they play as the bird", "I can't wait until they get the television gun", etc.

I kinda wish they played a bit of PvP multiplayer, but I won't pretend that Arma 3's multiplayer is remotely playable at the moment due to memory leaks and framerate issues.

The lesson, I think, is clear:

More Vinny, more Drew, more PC games.

... and Patrick should pick a new handheld game to play and spoilercast. It was a nice surprise to accidentally like a game from a genre I had no intention of enjoying.

Am I in the wrong for not liking Ryan in Quick Looks? Ryan is so boring 80% of the time. I prefer Patrick over Ryan. Patrick/Ryan combo is bad, indeed.

ARMA III QL is proof of this.

Arma 3 is incredible fun, anyone who wants to learn to play should meet up with us on our server, one of us can give you an Arma crash course, the game only seems daunting because it offers you so much agency but in like 10/15 minutes you will understand the rules it plays by and start having fun.

Info is in the alpha thread

I honestly don't even care if he plays it. But I kind of think that someone with an interest in competitive multiplayer and e-sports would at least want a working knowledge of the features and functions of the various offerings on the market. Just fire up the client and jump into the spectator mode. That would be enough to make anyone at least slightly disappointed with the multiplayer package that Blizzard put out.

The weekend is over you dolts, time to play nice again (and for me to be able to come back into this thread without losing faith in humanity).

No more mistakes than I'd see on the nightly news. It's disposable content, no need to be a total perfectionist.

It wasn't totally terrible, and I don't think they should perfect it, but just one more take would have probably helped. It just felt a little more jittery and awkward than I'd expect they would put on their site.

I don't check this thread for one day... one day!
Bunch of weirdos up in here.

How is Vinny so good at doing Sleeping Dog QLs? How is it possible? I mean, I guess it makes sense, after things like the Endurance Run, but it's almost unbelievable.

The Bombcast would be better served by him playing Persona 4 Golden and discussing his progress with Jeff and Vinny.

No it wouldn't, Brad is very spoiler sensitive when he's the one who hasn't played the game he'll ask questions but won't expect want straight answers and it would just be dumb.

Live show coming! We're going to run a live Quick Look of Gears Judgment in a little under an hour.

I can't fathom why anyone would buy a third person cover shooter for the campaign. It may be the dullest single player genre ever.

I wonder how much closer the multi in this is to gears 1 though..

I dunno the Gears campaigns are usually good fun.

This game seems a bit light on content though, starting to regret pre-ordering it now.

I've greatly enjoyed all previous Gears campaigns playing split screen with a roommate. If I didn't have that as an option I probably wouldn't have gotten 3 at least.

Didn't buy this one. Which I have to keep reminding myself isn't subtitled "Ascension".

I haven't played GOWJ

But I'm going to concentrate really hard and peer into my crystal ball. I see waves of dudes popping out of the ground. I see the player shooting said dudes until the sound of a gong signifies the end of hostilities.
