Giant Bomb Thread #4: A thread of perceived slights

the Halo trilogy marathon was amazing.
Absolutely. That was some real good entertainment, and Alexis and Drew seem to play off each other quite well.

And yes, I wouldn't mind if they went through the other games for Extra Life or something again.

Quick Look of this please!

Does anyone have timestamps for spoilers for the original Bioshock on the bombcast? Around 14 minutes in, Brad says something among the lines of 'I went to the gamespot forums for Bioshock and the very first thread title was..' but fortunately I was able to mute it just in time. How long do they go on about that?

EDIT: Nevermind, forgot the bombcast thread existed, found them there.

I'm watching the deadly premonition endurance run, and boy does this game look like ass. Happy that I decided to just watch this instead of actually wasting money on it

Missing out.

What am I exactly missing out on?

As I watch this endurance run all I see is butt fugly graphics, a lot of load times, poor/no physics, bad camera, boring combat, nonsensical quick time events, bad character models/animation and on an on and on with the suckiness.

the story, characters and dialogue is what made it charming. You'll see as they progress. One of the best experiences I ever had.

He can get those from watching the endurance run though, to be fair. :P

Though the ER missed out on quite a bit of side content.

So far I'm up to like episode 8ish and, while the characters are quirky, I can see the overall plot becoming really convoluted the more they progress

Also, I don't really have an interest in B-rate movies and the like.

The best thing is that it all makes sense in the end. Hopefully you'll stick with it.

I will stick with the endurance run, but I dunno about it making sense man.
It's giving me a real Siren Blood Curse vibe in terms of polish and such, and that game ended in a batshit insane way that made no sense at all. Another shining example of a game that I shouldn't have played, but in that case I did (thanks for the recommendation gaf).

I'm starting to think Giantbomb hate the UK, now it's not only their garbage video streaming from their site, now I'd say half their YouTube videos randomly cut off. It's really pretty pitiful for a site so heavily involved in video content.

Almost every youtube video I tried to watch yesterday just randomly cut off

It'll make sense. That's one of the most brilliant things about it. You'll see.

Probably my favorite game this gen. It is littered with flaws, but it is so earnest and certain of what it was meant to be that I couldn't help falling in love with it.

Since we're talking Enduarance Runs, I'm currently on 118 of the Persona Run. I started in Nov, and hopefully ill be done by this month. The last few episodes 116, and 117 were so good. 117 might be my favourite episode.

After this ill go for Deadly Premonition. Probably the Brad/Ryan run. I've had my share of Vinny/Jeff for the moment. Though they are the best duo and I haven't played Deadly Premontion. So I guess would I be missing out on not having those guys to my first experience with the game? Or are the reveals not the fun part? I have no clue what Deadly Premonition is about. Whichever one i choose to do first ill do the other one after. Or should I watch them both simultaneously.

The way most people experienced it was to watch it simultaneously, but in retrospect it probably would be better to watch them one after the other. The JV ones are better because BR miss out on tons of obvious stuff or get blockaded by stupidly easy puzzles/bosses while blaming it on it being a bad game, which is infuriating when you just watched JV breeze through it with no problems.

Brad and Ryan find a few extra things in their run of Deadly Premonition that you may want to check out (and Ryan's reaction to a few lategame moments are great), but Jeff and Vinny have a lot less dead air in their commentary. That, and they manage to get through the combat parts (the less entertaining sections) with a lot more ease, especially when they figure out how to beat a certain enemy type in a few minutes while it still takes Brad like half an hour.

Cool. Looks like ill do V/J first. Ill probably watch some other content after the P4 run so I can take a little break from that duo.

Another quick question. Who is playing? I guess Brad is playing in the R/B version. Who controls in the J/V. As much as I love Vinny it's been kinda infuriating watching him bumble around so much in Persona.

BR still has the best moment, though.

There's a giant dog in the middle of the road.

BR ER of Deadly Premonition is probably my favorite ER. Persona 4 is a classic ER but it has a ton of filler episodes during combat.

I think somehow better is how Vinny and Jeff manage to also confront the dog but not actually notice it.

I just imagine it feeling really slighted as they drive right past it.

The game is charming as hell and the broken aspect of it just one part of what makes the game so great. You will not experience the full experience by just watching videos. You need to be in the world to appreciate it.

DP was piss poor in the gameplay department but I am kinda glad that I finished it to see the end. Still, I guess it's a take it or leave it experience for me.

Was interesting to see the guys play it after having finished it a bit before.

Yep. By far the best moment of the whole thing.

"Run that dog over."

......

"Run away from the dog."

Not really. Maybe as a ''game'' it was rubbish as it controlled wonky and the production value was low, but what an experience. This and Nier just reminded me that there is a whole new level of enjoyment to be had even if the game was not attractive with its interactive prompts.

I actually never watched the Brad/Ryan ER of Deadly Premonition. Strange, because I like both these dudes a lot.

I'm going to rectify this right now.

Sometimes that is when it gets funny though. Like when Brad realizes barrels explode when you shoot them around 30 episodes in. The best part was that he kinda knew in the early episodes and did shoot them often, then forgot all about it for some reason.

And by funny I of course mean hilariously frustrating.
