2 hours is a hell of a lot more time than 2 minutes, both overall and in general to the rest of it. Unless the game is 120 hours or something he's played a lot more than he has watched of the 2 minutes.

When is it acceptable to stop playing when you don't enjoy it?

999 is the kind of game where you might 'finish' it once and still not have reasonable grounds for a full opinion of it. 2 hours is nothing.

Yeah, same kinda went for VLR for me. I wasn't diggin' it as much until I started a few more paths, and then right through the ending was pretty darn good. The flowchart in VLR is a godsend.

999 ends up picking up speed in that manner (well, mostly as you approach endings and stuff). By the time I was gunning for my last few endings, I found the game very enthralling.

I didn't think much of 999 until about two playthroughs in. Seemed like a crappier, more artificial Phoenix Wright/Ghost Trick (I've never liked Saw-esque puzzle room bullshit). But... man, goddamn that game. Goddamnit.

Patrick and Ryan delivering some scoops in the form of competently playing a game and reading a FAQ.

I'm enjoying this.

Edit: SPEEDBOAT JASON.

Maybe it's just me, but if I don't think much of a game, I rarely keep playing - let alone play though it twice.

Im liking how VLR lines up with 999. i have to replay it due to the save bug but its fun using prior knowlege on a fresh play though.

for instance when Zero 3 is going over how the bracelet comes of Dio says

"so whats the second way"

zero 3 replies with something like this

"oh Dio you already know"

"Didn't think much of" just meant I didn't think it was brilliant at the time. It wasn't, like, pants-on-head craptacular or anything.

How long is this going to go?
Hopefully until they finish or until they get sick of it. Since Ryan's there, though, it wouldn't shock me if he starts shutting things down based on how long the recording is. He seems to do that pretty reliably.

Man, I'm really disturbed at how indepth that FAQ is. Who on earth spends this much time and effort into figuring out the intricacies of this awful game?

This was sooo good

That's not true. Maybe you are using dry humor and I'm simply missing it. But I would never have gotten into classic arcade cabinets and stuff if not for having been made aware of California Extreme through the Bombcast. Nor would I have heard of Money Puzzle Exchanger or Tetris Battle Gaiden.

Considering the many retro streams, talk of "The Raid" on the Bombcast and Jeff Gerstmann's recent PC Engine escapades: Yes, I was joking ;)

The Tetris Battle Gaiden as well as Money Puzzle Exchanger streams were pretty cool. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the latter again (but I remember seeing it) - I guess it wasn't archived on the site? Does anybody have a Twitch link?

He should be enjoying games and being more positive about them. If he dislikes nearly everything why play anything to begin with.

(Sorry for quoting this a second time, I'm trying to get more posting juice out of it): And look at how he acted just a few moments ago. He couldn't even enjoy Friday the 13th!
(that game really seems horrible, but I loved to see Patrick suffering. Great stream!)

Hello, my name is Duffyside and I represent Mr. Klepek on issues concerning Jet Set Radio.

He liked it a lot at the time, but correctly realized that much of the systems don't hold up anymore when they played the HD remake.
Hm, I guess that's fair enough.

You're off the hook for now, Klepek.

This was sooo good

Few things more hilarious than two guys completely cracking up and losing it live. Good shit.

Well...no Creed 3 review for launch week.

Since every major gaming site & publication has managed to release theirs I expect this one to be mind blowing due to the time it seems to take to write it ;p

Assassin's Creed 3 is also a massive game.

Maybe he plays more than just the mandatory missions in a race for the credits.

They very rarely do side shit in these kinda games past a few. Maybe multi with live folks but Ryan hates multi in most games.

I think ryan has stated before that he really likes AC-style multi.

Also I think vinny alone invalidates your claim that they don't do side shit. :P

Vinny is the only one. Yet he hardly does reviews now.

They're probably rolling in dough from all that CBSi AND subscriber monies so they no longer care about clicks and ads.

Pretty sure Jeff got PAID after that deal. The others prolly not. Patrick can't even afford a pc.

Sorry Scoops, all these Friday the 13th videos are starting to let me see the brilliance of this game. It's not necessarily a good thing, but it's an interesting thing they were trying to do.

I think Jeff was always the man on top, so no not necessarily.

It always seemed to me that Jeff was the one who put the most into the site. From concept to financing to delivering content, Jeff is essentially Giant Bomb.

I would love to know the financial agreements that went between him and Whiskey Media at the time. Because I bet he is the only one who is actually getting a percentage off of the website's income, unlike the others, who I'd guess take salaries. It would explain how Jeff now has a lot of money after the deal.

But we'll never know.

If the buyout was a matter of survival of the site then it might not have been the payday you think. I hope it was good though, they deserve it.
