Giant Bomb Vive stream | What a Time to Be a Vive!

Not that surprised by Gallery's pricing, it's been in development since the DK1 kickstarter days, those guys need to recoup. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a season pass down the line.

jesus man. so basically you shouldn't be buying one of these things without a couple hundred additional dollars to spend on software too. still seems slightly more reasonable than the $40 for that flight control game.

I think the market will sort that out pretty soon. Everyone seems to be overpricing their shit right now because it's a new technology with a small install base. But I expect software to go down in price pretty soon because there can't be much demand for these games at these prices.

You gotta kinda think about it like this: The Vive is only going to sell so many units at first and studios are taking the risk to only focus on developing for VR. So they'll charge the relatively few people who buy it more than you'd expect to stay afloat.

That's how I see it.

It seems all the good movement games (like RIGs) need a cockpit and exo skeleton, but is there a reason why we cannot just use that method in games if it works ?

Mech warrior skyrim ?

I mean yeah. There is a game where you explore in a ball like ship (can't remember the name). Thing is, turning in those games can still cause sickness. Don't buy into the idea that cockput = no sickness for everyone.

I think most would like to play as a human though.

I am actually curious if simulating a helmet can help like cockpits do. So like, your vision would be obscured the same way Master Chiefs helmet does.

Honestly, If we can stimulate the vestibular system synthetically via electrical impulse we wouldn't get sick from turning either. Basically a headset could have something that triggers impulses behind the ear to trick your systems into "thinking" you are turning.

Wow, I started the stream at 10 and things were great in here. I leave for a few hours and it's doom and gloom. What happened?

Some people used a small talk in a break between showing the games to create a DoA discussion. Nothing that GB said was that tragic in fact.

And they enjoyed most of the games they showed.

But there are fights to be fought and salt to be consumated, so I guess any small comment is important.

That'd be really cool

Still cheaper than I have spend on launch titles for every other system

Early adopters are price insensitive. It's part of what makes them early adopters.

Basically. Which is why it's a good idea to wait for gen 2 of these devices: apart from possibly better hardware at cheaper prices, you will have a selection of gen 1 content at more reduced prices, and they will surely enter in sales, etc. It's expensive to build a solid software content library without steam summer or christmas sales.
