Gintama° Series 3 |OT| It's Not Digimon Tri, But It'll Have To Do!

Pakuyasa!

The dub is actually pretty good. It's still fucking hilarious and the casting is perfect for the most part. I think the only character they really dropped the ball on is Tama. She has way too much emotion. She loses a lot of her charm because of this imo.

Cuz I'm havin' a good time, HAVIN' A GOOD TIME

Holy shit Kamui's entrance was amazing.

Man, family fights are always better when you have superhuman strenght!

The first half was longer than the manga, and i felt it dragged on a little bit too much (that spitting on Sakamoto tho)

Also, is it me or the budget was a bit off this time? Hope they're saving budget for the next episodes fight

Oh, and nice addition to the final part of the OP, i love these little details.

Glad they didn't pull the damsel in distress card with Kagura confronting her brother. That was pretty cool.

Maybe I shouldn't, because Gintama isn't really about consistency in this regard or taking this too seriously, but it made me think about power levels. Like, I would think Kagura's dad would easily beat Kagura, but then Kamui was having a head-to-head battle with him where they both seemed pretty equal. But then Kagura arrives and it seemed that her new state of understanding would put her equal to Kamui.

Power levels aren't consistent but its a comedy show. In comedy arcs, Tsukoyo, Kagura and Otae can pretty much beat any guy. In serious arcs its probably like this

1. Shoyo
2. Elizabeth
3. Kagura, Umibozou, Kamui, a serious Gintoki
4. Otae
5. Most other people
6. Sadaharu
7. Jugemu Jugemu Unko Nageki Ototoi no Shin-chan no Pantsu Shinpachi no Jinsei Balmunk Fezarion Isaac Schneider San Bun no Ichi no Junjou na Kanjou no Nokotta San Bun no Ni wa Sakamuke ga Kininaru Kanjou Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru you de Shiranai no wo Boku wa Shitteiru Rusu Surume Medaka Kazunoko Koedame Medaka... Kono Medaka wa Sakki to Chigau Yatsu Dakara Ikeno Medaka no Hou Dakara Raa-yuu Yuuteimiyaouki Mukou Pepepepepepepepepepepepe Bichiguso Maru

Utsuro > Umibozu / Berserk Kamui > Kamui / Gintoki / Hosen / Berserk Kagura > Takasugi / Jirocho / Hijikata / Sogo / Nobume / Kagura

Takasugi should be on the same level as Gintoki since they've been shown as roughly equal. Sogo was also roughly equal to Kamui in the shogun assassination arc

So, it turns out we aren't just getting 12 episodes like people feared based on the Blu-Ray listings.

Takasugi should be on the same level as Gintoki since they've been shown as roughly equal. Sogo was also roughly equal to Kamui in the shogun assassination arc

Sogo clearly wouldn't be able to hold on if the battle went on for longer though.

Where'd you hear this? also I hope this is a long season (final season or not)

There's a magazine scan floating around with the announcements.

I see what you did there.

Woohoo, new OP/ED!
I doubt these will be the very last ones, but i hope they keep another DOES song for the very end.

Takasugi should be on the same level as Gintoki since they've been shown as roughly equal. Sogo was also roughly equal to Kamui in the shogun assassination arc

Idk, i think they looked equal because of Shonen Laws N°49563 by which the long-awaited battle between rivals must be on the same level for the sake of enterteinment.

But i think Gin has the slight edge on Shinsuke, he has shown to be able to "adapt" his strenght to match the enemy, and fighting alone with Yato (Hosen +
Kamui
) shows he's a tier higher, especially when he looses his mind.

About Sogo, nah. Again maybe if he'd lose his control he might be a challange, but Kamui clearly didn't gave it 100% against him.

Oh man this episode was amazing. Great backstory, and love how Gintoki became the "strongest". His lines to to Kamui were amazingly condescending..."everything you've been working for is about to get trampled by a complete stranger". Waiting for Kamui to get his ass finally whooped, but looks like some fuckery is going to happen with him mid fight.

Edit: Umibozu vs Utsuro was awesome too.

Hosen will always be the GOAT, nice to see him

And man, fuck. This episode was too good. Didn't think we were gonna get Gin vs Kamui even though I wanted it so bad, yet here we are. This arc is delivering

^hopefully a new season/extension to spring

Loved the comedy bit this week, it's been needed. I was rolling when she pulled the paid leave slip. 😂😂

I agree. After all that fight and lore dump. It was needed. I think we need more of those

yeah. I kinda miss the old balance of gag episodes and serious arcs. Loving this, but now that the Shogun ain't going after them anymore, I hope they get back to Kabuki and have some good comedy for a bit.

Utsuro is such a good villain.

Was this all for now? Or the season will keep going? Although the manga itself hasn't finished the last arc yet.

Whatever the announcement was, it wasn't incorporated into the episode.

I felt kinda eh about Utsuro as a villain when he was introduced during the Shogun Assassination Arc, but this backstory redeemed him for me. Makes sense for the kinds of tribulations an immortal would face. Gintama doesn't really do the "evil for the sake of evil" kinda bad guy (I think there was one or two only throughout the show), so I'm glad that they managed to pull it off with Utsuro.

Upping the stakes for a final battle. Kinda sad to see how it's all culminating into what will truly be the finale.

Yeah, apparently the new opening and ending are just being used for reruns. So, no new episodes for a while.

It was a preview for the new Live Action Movie.

The current manga arc is quite long and it seems to be getting longer, but it feels like the end for sure, its been great so far. Hopefully they bring the big guns for the animation.

It was brought to my attention that the upcoming Porori arc that starts next month may mostly focus on (aka the very best part of Gintama) gag episodes that are from manga chapters that they haven't animated yet.

Edit: Found this on a forum.

Im rewatching Gintama ATM and I was bitching to my girlfriend but the most recent arcs are too plot/action driven and i was missing the more comedic elements of the show. So this good news, for me at least.

Nice, an appreciated break before the final arc.

Did anyone watch the movie?

Yeah I had the same problem about it being too plot driven.

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet

Me too.

It also seemed that BNPictures who took over the show had a hard time getting the comedy right, and then the shift to serious arcs sort of ruined them getting comfortable...hopefully they've gotten their stride now and deliver. They did great work on Heybot!

While I really enjoyed the action and story heavy arcs, this is great news.

Can't wait for this season.

Heybot had a different director and writer from the BNP Gintama seasons though, so it doesn't mean much.

Will this be only the previously uncovered conedy arcs or will they start the final arc too?
Also, pretty curious to see how they'll be implementing them after how the last season ended.
