Yessssssssss. I don't watch any other anime.
Naruto and Bleach have disappointed me so but Gintama never has.

Amazing stuff.

Think we'll be able to get to the end with this season?

The manga hasn't ended yet. Most people think that it's ending soon, but that impression has been going on for a while. It's possible they'll coordinate things to end anime and manga at almost the same time though.

We better get the dopest DOES opening ever for this final arc.

Can't wait to see it animated, this week we got the craziest plot twist.

Oh boy.

It seems they nailed Kagura's look, though. Actually, Shinpachi isn't bad, either. It's just weird as hell to look at.

A critically well received anime, but it doesn't get much attention here. Not uncommon, unfortunately.

I think I need to seek out some kind of summary or diagram of the political factions and notable people, since it seems a lot about these recent serious arcs revolve around those. All these names and allegiances have me a bit lost.

Yo nobody told me Gintama was back wtf. How much is this gonna cover?

We don't really know how long it is, although one of the magazine images claimed that it'd be the last season. So it could be another one year arc going until the ending of the manga (assuming it ends soon or Sorachi spoils the ending for the anime staff). It seemed like an oddly small announcement though, so it could have been just a joke.

I'm disappointed they kept Chizuru Miyawaki as the director though. Her work last season was a pretty dry manga adaptation with most of the flourish going to the opening/endings, but little creativity in the anime itself. Rather than improving, some jokes actually were worse in the anime too. There were also some completely skipped comedic arcs which we probably won't see here either.

A timeslot change to late at night seems easily like material for an entire episode from the old anime staff, but here we just get a single scene and then it's back to the manga story, with only a single line later referencing it.

Didn't know about that stuff with the director. That might be a reason why the opening joke felt so abrupt. I feel like they would have ran with it in earlier Gintama.

It just seems to me that now that they have to work on seasons they decided to do a straight adaptation of the main storyline, at least they did try to make some Gintama humor at the start of it.

Honestly I don't mind it that much, the OVA was hilarious so its clear the humor is still there.

Also Saiki did get confirmation for a 2nd season, it sees to me that Gintama is going to run just for the battle arc and stop to give room to Saiki Season 2. (Saiki is awesome by the way, go watch it).

Expecting a year long season, short break (until summer or fall 2018) and then a two cour season with the final episodes.

Was the episode comedy or serious? I tend to only watch the serious arcs
I get the impression that they're doing all serious stuff now that it's coming to an end. The OVA promises a Kagura story OVA as the next one, so maybe they're doing some of the "filler" stuff that way.

There are some jokes, but it's overall serious and the beginning of a new arc. Unless they go back to do the skipped stories later, there should only be serious arcs from now on (although there is still some humor in the middle).

The OVA preview with Kagara just looks like the episode where she fakes her own death and has a funeral. I don't think it's a new OVA.

It seems like we're gonna backstory for everyone at this point. They did Katsura for the last one. I'll be interesting to see Sakamoto.

Finally free from the ban, just wanted to say that it's nice to have Gintama back! And even if it's not an arc i particulary enjoyed, the jokes in animated form makes it more funnier to watch.
Hope it's going to be one long final stretch till the manga ends, although i'm unsure if there's enough material.

I'm really hoping for some comedy filler episodes in this final season. I feel like we haven't gotten enough of those lately.

Suspected that, the manga while in the final arc is still not yet close to finish, at least not fast enough to give the anime sufficient material.
Hope the final episodes will come later in the year though.

It's pretty great how they turned the series long "It's not Zura, it's Katsura!" joke into a dramatically poignant plot point after all this time with episode 320. I love it.
