it allowed them to put in more commercials which brought in more money for fox and their providers lol.

Yeah, I get that part. I'm talking about in terms of plot and theme.

It was rhetorical, I suppose.

I suspect it was to cut into NBC's much-advertised The Voice.

Exactly.

An extra half hour of one of Fox's highest rated scripted shows, plus a chance to hammer the first half hour of The Voice? That's a win-win for Fox.

Well, it didn't work. The Voice did very well (at least in the 18-49 demographic), and Glee hit a low for the season.

I've been a fan of Glee from the start, but I was ready to turn it off during Kurt's ridiculously long song. Then, when they did a lame "flash mob" dance sequence to that "Barbara Streisand" song I was rolling my eyes and wondering why we had 90 minutes without any Sue Sylvester.

Last night's episode was probably one of my least favorite of the season. Thoughts:

- Most of the songs were awful (including Born this Way, which was nearly unbearably bad)
+ Except the Unpretty/I Feel Pretty mashup, I thought that was inventive and a beautiful rendition of the two songs. Quinn and Rachel sounds so good together.
+ Santana's plot, easily the best part of this episode
- Everyone else, to put it shortly. The prom queen story with Lauren and Quinn was probably the worst offense (especially the wtf Lisa stuff)
- The extra half hour - the extra 10 minutes of the episode was not worth the extra 20 of commercials
+ Emma finally dealing with her OCD. She's one of my least favorite characters, I just find her incredibly annoying, but hopefully she'll get better.
+ No more Warblers because Kurt's back at McKinley? I'd really like that, I've had enough of them (and Darren Criss too but he's not leaving anytime soon I'd guess).

He has his first real solo next week, without backup Warblers

Pretty much sums my feelings about the ep. Last week's Night of Neglect was pretty meh as well. The best part of the episode was Santana and her plan..."The only straight I am is straight up bitch"LOL. It was so weird watching her and Karofsky holding hands. I thought the whole Barbara Streisand sequence was dumb and Kurt's transference was way rushed. At least next week Crazy Terri is back, yay!

Not entirely, but the first half hour of The Voice was half a demo point lower than the second half hour (and nearly a full point below the demo in the 10 hour) so it seems like Glee did manage to keep some people from tuning in to the beginning of it.

I'll be interested to see what kind of numbers The Voice is pulling in a few weeks. Who knows if it has any staying power?

Just saw this episode. I was liking it, maybe even loving it, until the very end.

Who would've thought Glee, of all things, would join the despicable group that removes the LGTB line from Born This Way. Yeah, it's in the iTunes version, but whatever. They had enough time to do the full song (and you would think the title song of the episode would get the full treatment). Basically, a show about acceptance is barely above the typical Youtube bigot.

Oh Ryan Murphy, one step forward, one hundred and thirty two steps back.

Santana was hilarious though and further cemented her position as my new favorite character.

I actually quite liked this episode, it was the first episode I've watched in ages where I didn't feel like I just wanted it to hurry up and end, which considering it was a longer episode, was a very good thing. Kurt's song was way too long, though, and his voice continues to annoy me.

Just finished it and I thought it was alright. Santana basically saved the episode. Didn't really care for any of the songs. I kinda liked Kurt better when he was in the Warblers, though.

Santana remains the only worthwhile character, news at 11.

Emma's OCD was handled surprisingly well. It actually hit pretty close to home for myself so, props to that aspect of the episode.

Everything else was fairly shit though.

Ryan Murphy does this type of character extremely well. Santana's become Nicole Julian 2.0. She does for this show what Nicole did for Popular. She and Mary Cherry were always the highlight of that show.

This episode moved me. I loved it.

Loved.

This will go on as the one and only Glee episode that moved me.

This one episode makes me feel like all the shitty, overdone episodes previous it were worth it if it meant building up to this magic.

True, but even her plan plan to become prom queen and "rule the school" didn't make a lick of sense. The Glee Club consists of a bunch of unpopular losers and misfits (supposedly), so bringing Kurt back to McKinley and garnering their support accomplishes that how exactly?

Not even Mercedes NO WEAVE! shirt makes up for this.

I've been enjoying Glee quite a bit these past few episodes. They continue to fail at having any continuity (see: "Lucy" having brown hair with two blonde parents) and having a piano on the stairs makes no sense... but Glee has always never made sense. The whole show thrives on modest singing, over-the-top stereotypes, and generally unrealistic concepts. That's what makes it fun. Sometimes, they even throw in some very realistic aspects, such as every single character having the consistently major flaw of wanting to improve their own life over everyone else's, e.g. Quinn using people for votes, Lauren hurting Quinn's reputation for votes, Puck scheming for hookups/money/whatever, Santana using just about everyone, etc. That's the most realistic thing about this show, just how swindling high schoolers really can be.

Fun episode.

I wouldn't consider haircolor lack of continuity as it's definitely possible to have different hair color than your parents due to the way that genes are passed. However, other than that, yes I would agree that the show lacks continuity and generally doesn't make any sense.

So they ruined Quinn for me that last episode. I mean really the "oh she was nerdy, when she was younger and now shes not" derp derp. Pulled that one out of a Maury episode eh?

Then having a song dedicated to Kurt and then having him sing one right after? Wow. We get it you love the guy, but it's not like he really even went anywhere since he's been there in every episode. Sure he left your glee club for the Hogwarts Warblers but whatever he's back. Yay. :|

I will keep watching this show to see how much more they can ruin.

Jesus Christ. They really have no fucking clue what to do with Sue.

It's sad.

Yeah, I like Jane Lynch and all but Sue has become one of the worst aspects of the show imo.

Oh Jesus.

I hate it when the show gets all after-school special on us.

On next week's Glee, Sue becomes a lunch lady and gives the entire glee club food poisoning. ONLY ON FOX!

I guess at least it had some character development

I wonder if they even have a direction for Sue, I mean if Will leaves she would really have no point in the school

Though next weeks episode looks pretty good

It just strikes me as so insincere.

The show thinks it can just flip the switch from super-cynical teen comedy to super-poignant teen drama. And it just doesn't work.

The episode was so-so.

+ I like Fleetwood Mac and enjoyed some of the covers
+ Britney and Santana were, per usual, the most entertaining (and my favorite) parts of the episode
- But the rest of the student drama started to grate on me after a while, especially the sappy Sam stuff at the end
- Sue. Everything about her screen time, (especially) including the fact that she's now the reason that Terry is still in the show
- Kristen Chenoweth seemed sort of unnecessary and all she did was remind me about how much I miss Pushing Daisies :(
+ No Blaine or any of the Warblers!

Sue used to be my favorite character but now they really don't know what to do with her which is a shame. Not the best episode but definitely a step-up from last week.

I've been watching this show since S1 and I have to tell you, I am getting tired of the same old routine week in and week out.

-Glee group always pissed at someone in group, take it out in song. What happened to them just singing songs without any meaning or ulterior motive.
-Sue is now like a caricature of her S1 self. She has nothing real to bring to the table anymore.
-Brittany's inability to have a rational thought is getting annoying. At first it was funny, but now it's just getting dumb.
-Santana

I dont know... I think after the end of this season, I might be checking out of McKinley High.

I really liked both the episode and the songs this week with Rachel's being my favorite. Artie, wow. I felt for Brittany when she started crying :( Her interview with Lord Tubbington was awesome <3<3. He was the best part of the episode, tbh.

Sue's shtick is becoming tiresome but I don't care if that's the reason The Honey Badger Terri is on my TV. I guess their plan to get Will out of McKinley is going to get revisited since we didn't have any resolution on that.

Oh April, you know about Sue's plan and you still don't do anything about it? Bad April.

I felt bad for Sam until the point where he started crying. Chord is yummy but he needs to learn how to act, that killed the moment. And I love Blaine and all but it was a breath of fresh air to not have him on the show, this episode.

Preview for the Prom episode: http://youtu.be/wRVZuiFzGAY. It looks intense. I spoiled myself with the "shocking" event but still, I want to see how it plays out. Hate that
Jesse
is back since I never liked his character.

Hmm... normally I hate adverts like this, which try and use real sentimentality to sell things which don't deserve it, but this was surprisingly stomacheable.

Anyway, I have lots of catching up on Glee to do, it seems.
