God of War 2018 crosses 23 million units sold

And now Imagine how many dollars it would have made if it were released first day on a game pass based model.

Not trying to be a dick or anything, but I hope these numbers, and the flops of Uncharted and Sackboy on pc show Sony where their consumers are.

Maybe they'll slow down on the pc stuff a bit.

It is good to see sony ips finally reaching to nintendo levels.

Playing this again before ragnarök

Truly a special game.

Well deserved.

I think spider-man will be the first game to cross 30m for sony, i think they are at like 23-24 right now. I assume it will get another big push before spider-man 2

Spider-man and miles will probably cross 40m by end of next year with spider-verse and spidey 2

The success of GOW2018 all but guarantees multimedia expansion of the franchise as well as a whole series remake.

Who they cast as Kratos will ultimately make or break the franchise in terms of hitting an extra level though.

Surest bet would probably be Gerard Butler, but he's just a bit too old at this point. I feel like Jason Mamoa has already played this role a bit too much now with his version of Aqua Man, Kal Drogo, See, and in Dune. Since no one watched See, it might be fine though, he's not the best actor... I would go with Travis Fimmel.

What's the reason of keeping a console then? Exclusives matter. It's what sets a plastic box from another
Then don't ? You dont have own console if you feel you'll get better experience elsewhere, consoles are not going die because few million crave better experience.

No pun intended, but the game will have legs on PC, will get a boost in sales when Spider-Man 2 comes out, but highly doubt it reaches 30 million.

God of War is probably more likely at this point.

Hmm i guess we'll see.. i still see spider-man regularly charting so it still has some good sales momentum

You buy a console for its ease of use and affordability. That's it.

You're right, if you own a PC with capable hardware, then there is no reason to spend an additional 400~500$ on hardware that you didn't need in the first place. So what is the issue here, again?

I my games with the Only on PlayStation label on the box 🤥

Why would you care about this? What does it bother you that someone will play a sony game on PC.
Well, I would argue that this makes game design catering to steam pc configs even in the future when ps4 is becoming irrelevant to Sony.
We simply won't see games with specific PS5 engines using their full 7gb/sec SSD for crucial game mechanics, because then you couldn't port it to PC where 90% of users are still not on the NVMe train ...

Sony isn't your spouse cheating on you. Stop this pathetic behavior.

I like the part where you say you will try not to be a dick and then shamelessly act like a bit of a dick.

Why does it matter if Sony drop their titles on PC? Why shouldn't more people be able to play their great exclusives? Comes across very childish…

God of War is currently their best franchise. They better not fuck that up like they did with TLOU.
I seriously doubt they'll fuck it up in the same way. It's not like the star of GoW is gonna be killed off at the start of Rag as players gain control of the kid for the rest of the campaign.

Without getting into a whole debate over it, they didn't fuck up TLOU. It did amazingly well and was absolutely adored by critics. If you're referring to the second game specifically, sure maybe it wasn't as strong as the first game but it sure weren't a bad game to play. The combat is probably the best in business.

Explain me "crucial game mechanics" that would need to fully utilize PS5 SSD.

Ratchet and Clank was supposed to be game that would run only at fast PS5 SSD. Yet here we go:

Impossible. They had 971k in March. It's still selling well on console.
3 millions on pc? It can't be.
Most likely sold almost all these units in PC, because in console it's 4 years old, has been heavily discounted years ago and is available on PS Plus.

971K were sold in PC only during the first couple and a half or so. Adding half a year more and a -20% off discount that had I think it's perfectly possible that it could have sold a couple of millions more.

What's really fast on PS5 is not the SSD. It's the custom I/O block (hardware + API). Insomniac even said they were bottlenecked by their engine so that they were far from maximizing the I/O (and SSD) speeds (which DF showed in that video). DF are ignorant fools who just want easy clicks.

It's not my job to create or to come up with neat ideas that push the system. Sony and specifically Cery did advertise the PS5 of being capable of just that.

R&C did go in the "right" direction, amplify what they did there and maybe that's one possibility of game mechanics that need super fast SSDs all the time to work.

But as I pointed out, we won't get any of that anymore since Sony pivoted to include PC in their masterplan.

10$ to 20$ is very tempting to alot of people.

In the same time they are forcing their first party studios to develop games that will run on slow-asfuck PS4 HDD, CPU, GPU. So i dont think PC is problem here, where most ppl intersted in new titles did have minimum SATA SSD.
