God Of War 3 Has Gone Gold - Lots of Reviews Out Already

Old? This just popped up on my RSS feed and it's the first I've heard about it:

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3178084

MTV Multiplayer spotted a Twitter post from Sony Santa Monica's director of technology Christer Ericson, who explained how God of War 3 is designed to stream to the system's cache rather than requiring an install from the outset. That means the latest God of War won't be requisitioning any of your precious storage space -- other than the 5 MB required for save files, anyhow.

Again, sorry if old-- I never underestimate the collective GAF detective work.

What isn't old is that your chosen Kratos costume will show up in the majority of the game's cutscenes! A first :D :D :D Cod of War! :lol

It was 5 years ago, but I really don't remember any difficult parts of GoW1. Maybe I'll see why it was so frustrating this second time through...

Heard about that a couple weeks back.
No, no we didn't. We heard about it today.

We heard two weeks back that the cutscenes wouldn't be CG, but could still be pre-rendered and not necessarily real-time.

Today we not only heard most (not all) will be real-time, we found out you could carry your costumes into the cutscenes.

"In GOW3 all the cutscenes are created using our in-game engine, however some scenes were just to epic to run real time and thus are recorded videos. This is not the case for the majority of the cutscenes in the game which are mostly running real time. This way you can enjoy the bonus costumes for most of the cutscenes in the game, including those found in the E3 demo!”

I have this pre-ordered and can't wait, but man that's some shitty boxart. I don't suppose the euro version is any better?

I think its self explanatory, they had access to extra resources but decided not to use it. Had they did, it could have further optimized the game further. Look how much an install helped Bayonetta's visuals.

Just beat GOW1 from the collection for the third time, the game is still great :D HD remake is really well donne (except from the cutscenes)
Challenge of the gods was kind of easy except from the last one (fuck the satyrs). It only unlocks some lame jokes costumes though :/

On to GOW2 now :D

Interesting, so the graphics could have looked even better had they chosen to have a mandatory install for the game.
Um...No. Installation on HDD has nothing to do with graphics.

And does that quote hint that the GOW3 E3 demo has some hidden skins or something?

LOL...wow. So wrong.

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
The Collectors Edition looks sweet, but I'm hooked with the Ultimate Trilogy box since I didn't get GoW: Collectors :D

I'm passing on this, and I'm done with Gametrailers as well, it was bad before but now they have "Penny Arcade" shit on it as well.

gametrailers specialise in the art of revealing everything before games actually hit the shelfs. why act so shocked?

Installs help loading times...

Cacheing to the HDD can help texture loading.

Bayonetta had an install before the Sony patch was on the scene - which improved the frame-rate.

Here's another tip to show how wrong you are. Uncharted 2 doesn't use an install - best console graphics and no loading. Killzone 2 doesn't have an install - top console graphics and minimal loading.

Sony Santa Monica have the same resources and surely talent as Naughty Dog and GG.

He's been looking like that for awhile...

Wouldn't it be great if the sex mini game involved a tiny exploring Kratos and huuuuge Gaia? :lol
=/ Kratos should be Bi and the player should be able to choose.

I just cant decide. I could trade in some games with gamestops 50 percent bonus, and get this free, or go preorder at best buy because i missed out on the ultimate edition.

The Swedish Gamereactor site has just gotten their review code disc, hopefully the EIC will post some early impressions soon enough:

Other European outlets should be getting their copies soon enough as well, I'd reckon. Hopefully a French site that doesn't give a rat's ass about embargoes will post some sweet stuff :D

I have to have that Limited Edition. I'm buying the Ultimate Edition as well so I'll end up with 4 copies of GoW & GoW2 (PS2 LE & Plat, HK Collection, UE Collection) and 2 copies of GoW3. I also have 2 copies of CoO (UMD & PSN).

I think I'm obsessed with this franchise.
