I played to halfway through chapter 2. I might play Witcher 2 if I ever figure out how to get AA working.I still haven't played Witcher 1![]()

lol I don't care about the extra digital crap packed in with games
Free Fallout should probably have its own topic, shouldn't it? I mean, new releases and x%-off sales on GOG are one thing, but this is a major franchise for this generation getting its ancestor released for free for 48 hours...

Incredible, GOG convinced Ubisoft to go DRM free (at least for not brand new games). That's just amazing!
AC1 for $19.99? Disappointing price, but absolutely mind-shattering that they're offering DRM-free Ubisoft downloads. That's thread-worthy in itself.
That was before Ubisoft went DRM crazy, though. This is a new digital release in their DLC era. It's still pretty big, I'd say.AC1 had no DRM on Steam other than being on Steam and it apparently had zero DRM on D2D as well.
Heroes of Might and Magic V is really good if you enjoy the core aspects of the heroes games and don't mind the cheesy campaign. The battles are the best they have ever been (thanks to the larger grids and accessible display of the turn list), and the towns all look great and are fun to build up along with the heroes themselves. I thoroughly enjoyed HoM&M V. Quite a lot of gameplay between the game and the two expansion's campaigns as well. The second expansion offers branching unit upgrades and brings the number of types of recruitable creatures to among the highest it's ever been in any Heroes game.the second time I played it, like everyone else I dismissed as crap it initially
Buying a new game, coming home and reading the manual on the toilet. Good times. :lol
Fuck yeah. It was almost like an entire ceremonial happening. Going to a retail store, getting the big box, looking at the box/reading the manual on the ride home and while installing the game. Good times, indeed.

Me neither. I can never make up my mind if I want to play it in my bedroom (Big beefy PC, but playing at a desk) or in the lounge (Weaker - but no slouch - laptop, but big TV and COMFY COUCH!)
I know I could take Big Beefy PC downstairs, but I don't particularly want to!
The game is pretty demanding due to poor optimization, but at times can look really nice... I'd play it on the stronger PC, unless of course you're satisfied with the performance of the laptop. The opening scene with the monster coming through the gates controlled by the mage (it's been a while!) is among the lowest the framerate typically gets, so it's a good gauge for performance. Also, my usual advice, 16:9 resolution (engine issue in 16:10, blocky) and OTS camera (wasd + mouse) for soaking in the most of the atmosphere... it really is much more personal this way, since it's in no way a tactical RPG which benefits from the isometric view.
So is it worth getting M&M 1-9 for $13.96?
edit: let me revise that: M&M1-8 for $10.97?
Ah ok, I was wondering about this then. I was playing the intro on high, and everything felt pretty good, fps around 40, and then that monster scene happens, and it took a giant nosedive to near slideshow status.
Get 1-7. 8 was pretty poor.
I don't know, the description in kswiston's post of 8 is pretty enticing. :lol

Unlike all the past Might and Magic games you only make 1 character. The rest you have to find and recruit. It's also by far the easiest of the series, having dragons in your party completely breaks the game.
