GoldenEye 007 Reloaded |OT| For Wii, James? No, in HD

I don't need bleeding anuses or anything but few red stains would be nice.
No blood. Just like the N64 game!

Man this game can be so obnoxious sometimes. You can literally watch the radar as enemies spawn in when you hit a certain trigger point. Just like CoD. It's really a shame the devs felt the need to do that, when the usual stealth levels are so good.

I played a few matches online, it's pretty fun when it isn't laggy as hell. The one issue though, is it really seemed like a certain shotgun (I have no idea which one it was, it wasn't the default one though) had the power to kill people in one hit from really long distances. I was in a team game where it ended up being 2 vs 5 and one of the guys on the team of 2 went like 19-3 with the shotgun because he'd just sprint through the map and snipe people with the shotgun.

I really do not like what they did with the multiplayer maps. There is no point in calling them the same name as the N64 ones when they almost don't look like the original and don't even play remotely close to the original. Facility has no bathroom area, for instance, there aren't any hidden doors (that I know of) in archives, it just....isn't as fun. The maps seem incredibly generic and tacked on.

This last level is horrific. Ton of dudes shooting at you? Check. Only one way to go? Check. QTE's every 10 seconds? Check. Instant death if you go the wrong way? Check. Time limit? Check.

Ugh this BS ruined Perfect Dark Zero for me too.

I guess I'll wait to get this game for cheap. Time limits are never a good design choice.

The best part of this game is wandering around the night club with a Deadmau5 song in the background and the fact that Bond starts dancing when your in the crowd (and its a bloody achievement!)

But in all seriousness great game but oh my the lag on multiplayer is awful, its getting sold tomorrow and i`ll pick it up on the cheap next year

If in some alternate universe GE XBLA ever comes out, this needs to be the OT title:

There were at least red marks on their bodies where you shot them in the N64 Goldeneye.

You're right now that I think about it. I don't think this game even does that much or if it does, it's very subtle.

Yeah, the last level was the only real one I had issues with. The shooting galleries that cropped up occasionally in the previous levels were tolerable to me, because they didn't last forever. But the last stage was frustrating.

I get what Eurocom was trying to do to make the last battle "epic" and "suspenseful" (especially the QTE stuff) but when I'm hiding behind crates with like 20 people shooting at me and picking me off while hidden, it feels a lot like a CoD/BF3 campaign mode.

Whereas previous missions only had some dispersed frustrating segments, the whole last level made me want to shoot Trevelyan in the face. On the plus side, the frustration made the ending a little bit more satisfying than it otherwise would've, taking me back to moments on the NES where a ridiculously tough playthrough resulted in a euphoric finish lol

You're right now that I think about it. I don't think this game even does that much or if it does, it's very subtle.

I think I remember reading that it was a conscious decision so they could rate the game T.

It's a shame that this game will probably bomb coming out between BF3 and MW3. After I played it on Wii last year and BF3 last week I feel safe to say, that at least on the campaign side GE is ten times better than both of the other two games.
(sure, haven't played MW3 yet, but I have a pretty good idea of what to expect from it)

Eurogamer review - 6/10

Perhaps GoldenEye 007: Reloaded's most distinct mechanic is its emphasis on stealth, though this is fiddly in execution. It's not always clear what will set guards off when you can unload several silenced bullets into a man's chest as he cries out in pain - which no one seems to notice because, well, the gun had a silencer. Body detection isn't an issue as corpses mysteriously vanish upon hitting the ground, which was forgiveable in 1997, but jarring in 2011. It's a peculiar approach, but once you get the hang of this bizarre logic it becomes satisfying to get the drop on a series of isolated enemies.

The problem is that levels aren't open-ended enough to take full advantage of this. Stages are linear and while paths will occasionally split in two or provide an alternate route through an air vent, there are rarely enough options to vary your approach in any meaningful way.

Case in point is Bond's ability to hack into enemy sentries with his smartphone (yes, there's an app for that). It's a nifty idea, but criminally underutilised; it can only be used in a handful of occasions, most of which are set up so you'll come across them naturally.
It's competent, but nothing exceptional. Guns fail to convey much sense of weight and, half the time, melee attacks offer no feedback, making it difficult to gauge if you've hit an enemy. While these are mild annoyances, sprinting is a problem. There's an invisible stamina meter and it's never clear when you're able to hoof it. The recharge time seems inconsistent too, making it even more unreliable.
GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is a serviceable shooter, but it lacks the spectacle of Call of Duty, the tactical options of Deus Ex or Crysis, and the urgency of FEAR. In their place it has, well, not much. Some will admire its simplicity - and there is something to be said for its casual approach. But the sad fact is that just as Bond was succeeded by Jason Bourne in the cinemas, his gaming legacy has also been usurped by those he inspired.

I'm mentioning it primarily because having just beat it last night, I agree with it a lot. I might have been more generous about the stealth stuff though, I thought that was fine.

Is there an intro with a Bond song in the Wii version? I was dumped into the tutorial the second I pressed new game, and after that à short cutscene to introduce the first mission. Doesn't feel very Bond :(

There definitely was in this version. Happens during the first mission though, right after
you jumped off the dam.

Yep, the whole 007-style intro (done very well) happens after that, on all 3 versions.

it's true

Enh... Deus Ex DVD is collecting dust, Crysis 2 is frustratingly bad in both "rambo mode" and "stealth mode" and CoD single player doesn't even get started up anymore because of how awful they are.

oh, i was referring only to the jason bourne surpassing james bond in film part

Ok... so I rented this game. Was kinda looking forward to it because the Wii version is easily one of my favourite fps in recent years but hmmm...
The Move controls feel fine in sp but the PS eye doesn't register the Move controller when I'm more than 2 meters away - Never had this issue before.
Also Move and navigation conroller lost the connection to the PS3 at least three times... also: never had that. Anyone else had this problems?

MP: frame rate is horrible and lag is beyond playable at the moment. I will check again tomorrow.

Marketing age - due to the way 9s and 10s are handed out like sweets by gaming reviewers is an 8.5 anything worth shouting about on a tv advert? Well I've just seen an ad for this and it proudly displayed an 8.5 from ign as if that's something to shout from the rooftops, really surprised me

On the 7 to 9 scale, an 8.5 is really good.

I checked out the gametrailers review to see some footage and they mention this version has "dumbed down" AI compared to the Wii version. Is it true? any other reviews mention this or can anyone who tried both comment?

I was planning on double dipping on the PS3

How is that even possible?! The AI in the Wii version was mostly good (certainly better than Crysis 2 LOL) and I doubt they'd change their codebase? Then again, the CPUs in the 360/PS3 are in-order, but I'm not sure if that would affect anything...

I think I bought the CE edition with the Classic Controller Pro. I actually loved the Wii version... it was probably my game of last years Thanksgiving thru Christmas period... After Christmas eve though for some reason I picked up Mass Effect 1 again and finished that off... loved it.

Anyways, anyone else content with the Wii version? I dunno if I really want to pick this game up again because it is in HD. It controlled well enough on the CCPro and there are still a bunch of people online. Plus, does anyone else have this thing where they kind of like playing the wii for the grainy textures and muddy backgrounds? I am not sure if I find something charming in that or what, but I kind of like playing games on the Wii every once in awhile for that.

Playing it now, not a very good game.

What I like
-Bonus objectives, though they aren't hidden or anything.
-Stealth, they let you use it quite frequently and choose between Gunning and playing sneaky.

What I dislike
-Nauseating cinematic play. If there are explosions, your character is swaying all over the place, and I feel sick.
-Gunplay + Auto Aim... You don't even have to aim. Just look down the sights near a guy and it has a lock.
-AI, dumb as shit. I'm walking through, judo chopping fools. And other times, pinned down by 6-7 turrets and re spawning guys
-I am getting shoot? Your screen kind of just turns red and when you do die, it never feels like you were close to it. Response is low.
-Disappearing bodies?

Does this game have the Call of Duty "Legacy" control option on a controller? Can you play 4 player local split screen with one move and 3 controllers? I just got this game and am hoping to play with some friends.

just rented this from redbox today and wow the online is buggy and laggy. but despite that its still good and fun to play, haha the shotgun is so overpowered.

Played the first two missions and its really fun :D can't wait to continue.

I need to unlock Jaws now! B^)

Its on sale on Amazon lightning deals for $35.

Which version is the one to buy? PS3 or 360? I know PS3 runs at 1080p and has Move support, but is it worth it? Multiplatforms are usually better on 360.

I already own and love the Wii version.

The cradle could be the worst final mission I've ever played in a game. It's every bad game idea crammed into 20 minutes. Let's see we open with a escort mission, followed up by an enemy gauntlet with a countdown clock, throw in some QTE's, and an unfair final boss with no checkpoints. I'm so pissed off from dying right now. And it sucks because I really enjoyed the rest of the game.

Decided not to even finish it. Once I realized what that final boss fight was, I just turned it off. Another one for PoS design.

Though I wasn't liking the game very much prior. I enjoyed when it allowed me to use stealth. Once it got pass those moments, I disliked it.

I finished it on Wii and just finished it on Xbox.

It has its share of shitty designs and mechanics but damn it I'd be lying if I said I didn't love every minute of playing it. I don't know why but I guess playing as James Bond just adds to the experience. I know it's a dumb reason but if same game was released with exact same graphic and sound and level but your main character was a bald marine then I'd toss it in the trash bin. I guess it's not every day you get an a semi above average game featuring James Bond.

There is a Goldeneye Move bundle (with fake gun thing) at Future Shop in Canada. I just recently bought a PS3 so I have some questions.

1)How does this game play with Move? Is move just a gimmick for this type of game?

2)how is PSN for online gaming (esp. with this game)? I don't know if ill be doing much online gaming since i just got MW3 but it's a consideration.

a demo came out on PSN with move support

game seems as good as the Wii version, just 60 fps and looking nice...a bit. There's a lot of nastiness; blurry textures and the like. I mean, Wii version didn't look bad or anything; it's one of the nicer looking games on PS2/GCN/Xbox/Wii level hardware. It's just unbalanced because some areas had more 'updating' than others.

I played through the Wii version with the pointer controls, and the move controls here are fine I guess, but I dunno what it is, it doesn't feel as sharp. Infamous 2 is still the Move game that surprised me the most by having better pointer aiming than other games between the Wii and PS3. Like, whatever Sucker Punch did, get them to teach it to others.

At least the standard dual analog controls feel a whole hell of a lot better here. It was clunky on the Wii, but even on a dual shock 3 (as far as dual analog controllers go, I prefer the 360) it feels nice. Still wish it had a PC version. Will still probably double dip later on.

edit: also wtf you can't lean? it was on the nunchuck on the Wii and the navigation controller doesn't have motion stuff (I used my dual shock anyway) but I thought with so many more buttons (with dual analog as well) they could fit a lean modifier.

They couldn't even let us go all the way to the end of the level in the demo? It's like I'm running towards the objecBUY GOLDENEYE RELOADED

Just downloaded the demo from the US PS store (lol at it being PS+ exclusive on the EU store) and played through it. Does the demo have a time limit or does it always end at the same point? I had a couple of issues with it like the immediately vanishing bodies that just looked silly and the odd choice of controller layouts. I wanted to pick the equivalent of the tactical layout in COD where R3 is crouch and melee is O but picking that option moves aim and fire to L2/R2. There are all sorts of layouts including aiming and firing being on R1/R2 but no option to have crouch on R3 with regular shooting controls.

Overall it was ok but I hope the full game is better and doesn't contain any more COD-esque breaches or scripted takedowns.

Just picked this up for £15 and really enjoying it so far (PS3).

Gutted that no-one seems to be playing online though - so Platinum isn't going to happen :S

I'll have to turn off the auto-aim as well - it kind of ruins things.
