GoldenEye Online Multiplayer is not coming to Xbox. (Split-screen co-op available)

I think you're missing the point lol, this is purely a nostalgia thing.

The 2008 game was generally not received well because it trampled on peoples goldeneye nostalgia with its recreation of the dam level.

If they put that one out again, it'll be nothing but bad PR.
I am not sure, but I think you are mistaken. The 2008 remake "demake" was never officially released. Again, I am not sure, but I think you are thinking of the 2010 or 2011 Activision COD inspired Goldeneye. Which is not bad for what it is. It just wasn't the same type of game as the original more like COD.

I all honesty, I personally think MS should release both on all systems. Switch 2, Xbox, PS5, PC, Apple going forward. But we will see if they do.

Oh yeah sorry, I thought you meant Goldeneye Reloaded that came out on Wii/360/PS3.

Would be nice to see Sony release their games on Switch, Xbox, Apple and PC also.

Tell me you are a salty fanboy without telling me you are a salty fanboy
I've seen him criticize both Sony and Microsoft — equally. He's hardly someone you can call 'a salty fanboy' but it is funny to see you try to point it out, I guess some self-awareness is necessary.

That would be on Sony and Apple not MS. The game is playable only through GP or if you bought Rare Replay. You can not buy it stand alone. So ask Sony and Apple for GP.

Sorry, I guess my message wasn't clear. I meant MS should consider releasing Goldeneye Reloaded on all platforms once/if the Activision merger is complete. They already acknowledged there will be "NO NEW COD in 2023" for the first time ever. They were looking into remakes, or other opportunities. This would classify as another opportunity.

Yes, Sony, Apple, Nintendo, Steam all have to allow on their platforms but, MS would have to green light the project. I am sure all companies would welcome it, if sold individually.

Oh ok I misunderstood. I loved that game. I was first introduced to deadmau5 " I Remember" while playing in the background during the club mission. I cleared out the club and just listen to I remember repeatedly. Great times.

About time this comes out. I see it's also free with rare replay? A game I got for free for watching a E3 on Mixer?

Can't complain about that.

So, this is where the Halo Infinite couch co-op resources went...

I hope the current generation can appreciate this game, but I am sure it will be picked to pieces. Definitely a game ahead of its time in 1997 for Consoles and one of the biggest flukes of all time. The documentaries on this game are amazing to watch. The N64 Switch version is probably going to kill my positive memories for it :)
It's a 1997 game they are releasing this for boomer nostalgia €$. No more no less.

Nintendo online
Xbox no online

What?

Nintendo: Emulated N64 game (N64 emulation is notoriously filled with issues) with the emulator allowing for really bad online gaming emulation

Xbox: completely remade/native port that has no online functionality but will run, play and look better

Imagine playing a shooter on Nintendo servers lol, while using the phone app to be able to have voice chat

Imagine playing this online on Xbox because imagining is the only way you'll be able to play it online on Xbox.

If I had to choose, I would go with the better looking game with local split screen.

If you really have a hankering for online, just go play Goldeneye Source.
Plus, it won't play well on Nintendo's service. Imagine a game non optimized for online, running on Nintendo's infrastructure, limited to your friends list and playing at 20FPS. Latency will be unbearable

That's really not a valid explanation though... Why can't the remade/native port not also have multiplayer?

It can, there are probably reasons on the licensing and getting approval from Nintendo end that we'll never get an official answer for.

I think late nov is the 25th anniversary of Goldeneye. Hopefully we get it before then, but I'd understand if they wanted it to coincide with that.

because they would have to actually implement it into the game engine.

on Switch it's simply the Emulator connecting multiple systems and emulating multiple controllers.

I was curious about the title of this thread. It mentions that there is split screen co-op? But I don't see any mention of it in any of the articles or tweets.

Maybe you need to stop being such a fan boy, or being emotional for MS.

MS are big boys and have a lot of money, they suck at negotiations. Now you know why they are buying mega publishers.
Buying a mega publisher and negotiating are the same thing basically. Stop being such a fanboy by defending multiplayer exclusivity which benefits nobody other than Nintendo lololol.

maybe they're waiting for Nintendo's weird release schedule for their N64 games...

they most likely have a deal to launch both on the same day
It's not hard to see that deal, actually

Microsoft: we want to release our port of Goldeneye
Nintendo: ok, we release for our emulator and we're fine?
- yes
- same day thou
- sure
