Good PSP purchases on a whim?

Picked up Untold Legends, WipeOut Pure and Metal Gear Solid this weekend on a whim. I only currenly had Lumines, and had Ridge Racer but sold it in anticipation of Midnight Club 3.

Good purchases?

i can't recommend Ape Escape. i'm kinda regretting it despite the $20 FYE mail in rebate. It's a decent platformer, but it falls short of the console versions and the load times (5-10 econds between each screen/area in each stage) are annoying on a portable.

Edit: Was Ridge Racers really worth selling? It's gotten such praise pretty much everywhere, and i couldn't see selling it before Midnight Club, which isn't even out yet.

I sold my Ridge Racer also, because it was getting really stale. The AI is super easy, and the nostalgia kinda wore off. I am having more fun with Need for Speed Rivals because of the many different types of races. Does Rivals look as good as RR? Hell no, but overall it is a newer & fresher experience for someone like me that did not get the console versions. Cant wait for the FIFA soccer later this week too.

I like Wipeout Pure, I think its fuggin amazing, but I havent ever played Wipeout before so controlling the ships is difficult IMO. Metal Gear Acid is really good and gets better the further you go, but there have been times that I have wanted to throw it across the room.

I've got Untold Legends and WipeOut Pure and can attest to both of them being a lot of fun. UL has been my most played game up until I beat it last week. Probably trading it off this week. Fun game, and very long, but a little on the repetitive side. WipeOut is a blast to play too, and has amazing graphics. When you hit the Flash class things really start to get fast. I enjoy the game, but I'm no longer making much progress in it, so I may trade it off as well. Not sure yet.

My other games are Lumines, NFL Street, and Twisted Metal. Lumines is a blast, easily my second most played game. Haven't given enough time to NFL Street and Twisted Metal yet. TM is great online since they got it fixed up. NFL Street is fun, but I have a hard time playing it because I can't tell whose guys are whose in a mad scramble. Since the characters all wear different uniforms, it's hard to tell 'em apart at times. :)

To me, Ridge Racers would have been a god-send about 5 years ago. It had awesome presentation and was a really slick arcade racer. Unfortunately I have grown used to playing arcade racers that offer more these days. Something with cop chases, traffic, or visual enhancements to trick out a car.

Midnight Club 3 does all of this for me, and is a very awesome game. Burnout would fit the bill as well. I didn't dislike my time with RR, it just didn't fill the niche for me like the other mentioned games most likely will.

Go to ncsx.com and import Namco Museum for $48 which includes 3 day shipping. Its the best damn PSP game I've played.

I'm sure Namco Museum is a great game but do not follow this advice. The US version is going to have 10 more games than the Japanese version and cost less than $48.
