There's a lot stacked against gen z that is out of their control, but anecdotally, I've seen a lot of this. My current job I'm the young guy, but I used to work an IT Help Desk and our younger groups started arguing over things like "I know I'm supposed to be here at 7, but I'm neurodivergent and struggle with waking up in the morning. So I'll try my best to be here at 7, but I can't promise". Anecdotally, I've never heard these excuses and talking points from millennials and older, but I've heard them 3 times from the early 20s crowd.

It's probably because as people get older, a lot of people realize it's grind to work and pay for stuff. So you look at things in a different lens. Looking at a combo of value and at some point retirement down the road. So cut back on stuff you dont really need.

It's counterintuitive in a way because youd think as you get older and make more money, you'd be more free wheeling blowing money. But it can also be the opposite effect. More you make, the more decisions you make to save.

$80 is def within inflation if you are comparing to games back in the day. People are choosing to play GAAS instead.

Plumbers absolutely make 6 figures. Maybe not as an apprentice, but they will soon enough. Probably before someone with a degree will.

As I understand it, gen Z is less woke than gen X and Millennials. And with so many games being hot woke garbage lately, maybe they are just skipping the games altogether due to them being garbage. Also, there are so many free games these days. You could spend all your time gaming and not spend a single dollar. Between FTP and free games on Epic and other services, there are more free alternatives now than ever.

This is pretty outdated thinking. Hard work is rewarded more in the trades than just about anywhere else, and the path to entrepreneurship and significant income is much wider and more accessible than in most other industries.

Trades jobs will be harder and harder to fill, unless fallout happens and young people get interested in it in high school so when when it's career time the are all ready to go.

But without that, getting young people to look forward to a trades job is going to be a tough slog as they're grown up on tech. Sitting at a desk, lounging on the couch using their phone etc.... To get kids to flip flop from that lifestyle to being a plumber or HVAC guy seems like a lot of extra effort they wont bother with. They surely skew to white collar jobs with a focus on tech more than ever.

Also, look at the attitudes many young people that the older vets have less..... I want to work from home, and if you want to get hold of me send me a message or do a Teams meeting.

You cant have that attitude doing a trades job where it can involve showing up at someone's house meeting customers face to face.

Not surprising really. The people I know in that age range are either grafting and saving everyday in the vain hope of getting a half manageable mortgage on a house, or they've given up and live with mum and dad, barely ever having a job.

They had enough supply for launch so coming from 153 million sold console for the first should have a merit a strong launch. But will see how it does over time. I don't think the switch 2 will have more legs then the first one.

Make inexpensive, lower resolution consoles that everybody buys ( like Switch ).
Offer the exact same full 2 hour money back guarantee that Steam has.
Sell games at full price via digital downloads.
People will find a way to buy games that they can purchase with zero risk.

Apart from the higher costs now for living expenses, rent food etc, they keep putting mid game quality prices up and in Microsoft's case, making gamepass more of an attractive affordable deal, plus the higher cost's of the hardware so it isn't surprising in the end really.
