It's funny how the whole offline focus is just focused on under developed countries for them. I think less use of data is good for everyone honestly.

Or maybe networks here are just stingy with mobile data and it sucks.

No; his question was really clear considering he brought up zip files and whether the file is merely compressed for storage.

It is lossy compression by Google's own wording; they seem confident that 16MP or under photos won't have noticable differences.

Probably not if you just started, but it's just nice to be able to work with C++ code from Android Studio if you ever need to do that.
