Because it is a piece of cardboard...durr...

The controller looks like it's good for walking around in virtual worlds and.. that's about it.

Hope this montage proves me wrong but.. not impressed.

Can you expound on this...why would VR be better on mobile

It's not about being better. It's about being more easily available. You already have a phone.

Also, it's more comfortable with no wires or the need to be connected to a PC.

People won't buy an expensive PC + Headset that they have to be at home to use.

Mobile also allows for apps that you can use outside the house and even more social apps.

It's much better than a device that's connected to a PC.

Not sure if that controller is worse than no controller at all. From my experience with the vive when it isn't setup properly, having a 'hand' represented in the game world that doesn't track 1:1 feels bloody weird.

Sure but this has pretty big potential among mainstream consumers.

oh sure.

That's the audience that matters.

VR isn't about gaming. It never was.

That remote is just fine.

If mobile VR is limited to rotational tracking and 360 degree videos, it won't be the best thing. You need positional tracking, and you need some decent realtime 3D support - even if just for simple experiences.

Hopefully smartphones are just about enough to drive it.
