Google Play Games has arrived on PC in more countries, including the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore. The app, which is available in beta, allows you to play a selection of Android games on your PC with a mouse and keyboard. Google started testing the app in Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan in January (and later in Australia and Thailand) after promising at the tail end of last year that Google Play Games would come to PC in 2022.

There are 85 titles on Google Play Games, as The Verge notes, though Google plans to add more. The lineup includes Cookie Run: Kingdom, WWE SuperCard and Just Dance Now. Those are somewhat notable games, but you'll perhaps find heavier hitters on Apple Arcade and Netflix.

Minimum requirements​

• OS: Windows 10 (v2004)
• Storage: Solid state drive (SSD) with 10 GB of available storage space
• Graphics: IntelⓇ UHD Graphics 630 GPU or comparable
• Processor: 4 CPU physical cores

• Windows admin account
• Hardware virtualization must be turned on

But for those on the forum who are hardcore mobile gamers, you can now play your mobile games on your laptop or PC monitor with mouse and keyboard. With 85 games currently available and more too come.

Hardware virtualization required - shouldn't be an issue for most people, but gives us a glimpse to the fact that they're doing containerized virtualization to accomplish this. Essentially Android emulation.

The whole point is to compete against 3rd party launchers like the MS Store, Bluestacks, etc.

Making this Chromebook exclusive would make no sense, the potential marketshare gains would be minimal besides Chromebooks already support Android apps, it’s not like it’s been a market mover either.

I unironically play a bunch of waifu simulators on my PC cuz I have a shitty phone....and cuz I hate mobile controls.....and cuz the games are actually fun.
But I certainly wouldnt buy a frikken chromebook to play Android games.

I could imagine testing certain mobile games on PC, stuff like Blue Archive, Pokemon Masters & Arknights.
Windows 11 got similar support and perhaps other actors like Valve may develop such a framework for themselves. It would remove a lot of friction for developers.

Ease of use?

With the existing emulators, you basically have to walk through the "new phone setup" screens then log in to your Google account -> go to play store -> download game(s). With this, you just download the app and sign in to Google. Not a huge deal for most people like us, but imagine trying to tell your parents how to set up Bluestacks and configure keybindings so that they could play Clash of Clans on their PC.

JRPG genre( or most turn based games) and Tower defense genre are great on phones.

Edit: Also funny enough I recommend checking out what's on Apple Arcade for a curated list of good titles to also play on Google Play Store.
