Google Play Music All Access

Loving it so far but man I think I need to change my data plan. 2gb isnt enough anymore lol.

I know it will sound lame but I wish more streaming services had video game music :/

So still no word on an iOS app? Dang. That gmusic app is terrible, and my subscription renewal is up tomorrow. Without an iOS app All Access is only useful to me at home. Back to Spotify? What to do...

Is anyone else's new releases not updating? It shows stuff from two weeks ago. Can't find Holy grail at all except in the play store.

Seriously, what the fuckkkkk. Where's that app?!

This shit is seriously making me want to switch to Android. Apple always takes forever to approve Google's apps

Is there any way to search for mixes made by other users and not just the ones that are recommended?

I'm really enjoying this service right now, I listen to it all day at work and with gmusic in the car.

I put most of Ryan Davis' THE REALEST SUMMERJAMS into a google music playlist that is open to the public. Over 400 songs, really good shit.

So my subscription lapsed and I won't be renewing it until Friday. Will the music that I "pinned" still be available to me?

I doubt it. That's no longer your music.

This is your punishment for using iOS.

Naw, it'll come eventually. I don't think they even gave a firm date.

It'll likely expire on the same day.

They said around June. I really am leaning toward switching to Android again. I can't believe I switched my family from T-mobile to Verizon and now tmovile has better phones...

You guys want an iOS app, I want a proper desktop app with taskbar controls on Windows. Also would be nice if the play/pause button on my keyboard worked with it.

I'm looking to switch from Spotify premium now that this is available in Australia but i'm noticing some odd omissions in All Access.

For example, Justified and The 20/20 Experience are missing from JT's otherwise comprehensive discography but they're available to purchase from the Play store.

Is there any explanation for this or a site that covers the big omissions from All Access?

Edit: Oh shit, no modern Beach House, Japandroids or Bat for Lashes?? I might be out before im even in.

Edit2: Hmm, weird. Seems the search/indexing is jacked up. A search for "bat for lashes" turns up only all the old albums but searching specifically for "the haunted man" finds the album.

The searching blows in Google Play Music. It's extremely ironic considering it's Google.

This is why Google needs to provide free and/or cheap internet. Save ~50$ a month on your internet bill, register to a tv/movie/music streaming service for around 25$ total.

Hey guys, is there anyway to only show the music I've uploaded to Google Music or purchased? Since subscribing to All Access last night, I've added a couple of albums but from what I can see it lumps all albums together.

I guess in non US countries it is just a music player app ?

Australia and New Zealand just got All Access a couple of days ago, so I assume it's going to find its way to other countries shortly.

But yes, for countries without All Access, it's just a music app which let's you upload and play your music on the go.

Upload to the phone ? Or are you thinking about a cloud ?

You can upload music to the cloud and then stream/download it back on a phone or pc. You don't even need to upload nowadays because they have a music matching service implemented.

That cloud music thing is also integrated in to the Play Music app ? If so, i dont have acess to that either.

To the cloud, as spindoctor mentioned above. Since I still buy most of my music off iTunes, I tell Google's music manager to sync all music found in the iTunes folder.

Whenever I buy a new album, it automatically gets uploaded/synced to Google Music, which means I can immediately play it from my web browser, as well as my iPad, Android phone and tablet. It's a fantastic service.

Odd, you should be able to have access to it. Did you download the Music manager from the Google Music site?

You should be able to download it from here: https://play.google.com/music/listen?u=0#/manager

As i thought, it is just a shitty music player in my country ;)

Does streaming sings that are in my cloud library (but not on my device) eat the same amount as data as songs taken from Google's servers?

I really hope not. I'm driving for three hours and want to listen to my library, but not if it sucks up as much data as the normal app.

Why wouldn't it? It's pulling it from the same place.

Have you left for your trip yet? While you're on WiFi, select "keep on device" for the playlists or albums you'd like to listen to and they'll be stored locally on your phone. Then, no mobile data will be used to stream them; you can even play them in airplane mode (toggle Bluetooth on if you're using it for your car, of course).

I would imagine so? I mean, a 320KBPS song is a 320KBPS song. I would imagine they use the same compression for everything, so I don't really see how they could get around the data size. You should store some of the stuff you are going to want to hear locally for your trip.

Yeah, I figured as much, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I've already left on my trip, but I'll be sure to do this next time. Just as long as I remember how to remove the songs from my device but still keep them in my library.

I find the pin icons to be too ambiguous. Granted, I haven't fiddled with them as much as I should, but I don't know the difference between a pin pointed straight down and one at an angle.

Yeah, the pin icon is stupid, considering pins are usually more horizontal when in use (on a wall) and having them straight down doesn't mean anything. It's skeumorphism, and it's even misleading skeumorphism.

Anyway, stop by a Starbucks or Panera, etc. and download some albums on their WiFi. It goes surprisingly quickly.

Well, when something is pinned the pin icon is highlighted, when it's not pinned the icon is greyed out.

Yeah, I think I'm done with this. File sizes are massive causing internal storage to fill up after relatively few downloads. Forced "last played" album order in the library makes it feel very disorganized. There's no way to get rid of the "Recommended for You" thumbnails. Speaking of which, I hate the mandatory large thumbnails for album view on the limited screen space of smartphone -- you can only view a whopping FOUR albums at once. There are no on-screen controls unless you play a song and then click on it again at the bottom of the screen or click the playlist(?) button at the top. It's just odd and incoherent, like the ambiguous Pin button.

Back to Mog, or maybe I'll give Spotify another shot. I think they finally added real sorting/filter options.

Random question about Google Music - is there any way to get rid of that split second pause between songs? A Google search returns results claiming they switched to gapless playback in late 2012, but it seems to have switched back at some point.

I've been using Google Music since it first went live, and can't really remember a time when there wasn't a gap, but I rarely listen to albums where it might be noticeable straight through.

You know that The headphone icon at the top left is a menu right? You can choose my library from there.
Edit: also if you slide left and right on the song name at the bottom of the app it'll switch songs.

None of that has anything to do with my complaints.

edit: See what you mean now, although it's not at all obvious that "Listen Now" (which lists all of my music) and "Library" (which lists all of my music) display music in different orders. Still think that this app could be better organized.

Back to Spotify I go.

I like the integration between my local and online music but there are too many omissions from Google's library at the moment.

I can't understand why there's so much stuff that's available to buy on the Play store but not through all access.
