So I have a problem with the app which doesn't make sense. I have a 64GB SD card in my phone (moto g 2nd gen) but the app refuses to store any new downloads to the card. It keeps on storing new files to my internal storage. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

If you don't have kitkat, I think there's no way to do it.

WTF is going on???

I'm on my HTC One and before and after I updated the app, I still cannot stream any radio. I checked and I'm not in "Downloaded Only" mode either.

The queue is all grayed out save the songs I have downloaded already. If I click on a grayed-out song, it says "Can't play this song without a Wi-Fi Connection." But... I am on a Wi-Fi connection. I'm ONLY on a Wi-Fi connection.

So when I went to Settings and unchecked "Stream via Wi-Fi Only," radio is suddenly working again.... even though my Mobile Data is off (dear god I hope it's off).

Will the new releases section always be completely garbage? It doesn't even show new releases that I've gone and had to find myself.

I do. Its 4.4.4. I've selected the option in the app and everything but its just not storing anything on it.

Maybe try uninstalling updates, removing any music you already downloaded, cleaning up with something like Cleanmaster then reinstalling?

Yeah this annoys me too. Not sure why we can't just have all the releases separated by date, genre, etc. Tell me what came out this week, with some ability to sort to my preferences, then next week, etc. Like movie releases on IMDB.

The app has a lot of problems

Why there's not any sort of release calender type of situation where I can't sort what was added and when all the things you mentioned is baffling. Simple stuff really.

In terms of library size, has Google finally reached Spotify numbers?
I ask this because Play Music offers the locker service, which is an added advantage to Spotify tbh.

You can check New Releases by genre. It's not the simplest to get to but it's there.

I would say it's pretty damn close, at least with what music I listen to it has. Switched from Spotify to this a few months back and I don't ever recall not being able to find something on Play Music.

Right but it's got a wild selection of stuff that's new that week and stuff that's popular but might have been out for a couple weeks. And it doesn't have everything that came out in the current week. Sometimes you just have to know your favorite band released an album or song and go search for it.

I agree. I always have to hunt down my favorite metal bands, but at least they're available.

It has been my experience that when an artist I listen to a lot has a new album out, Google emails me about it.

Hmm... I haven't gotten that type of email yet. Could be that I'm only three months into my Google All Access subscription, so maybe I haven't built a recognizable pattern yet.

Gf got a new lenovo laptop with 3 months of Play Music free. Have been trying it out and digging it so far. Downloading albums has proved very useful for commuting.

I asked about this before, and I've still not gotten any sort of email heads up. I get emails from Rdio and Spotify when things are added, and that informs me more than Google Play.

The thing with the genres is that they're so damn vague in regards to new releases. I'd ask for better specifics, but that is a whole can of worms. Why can't I just see every single thing that has been added? Even without the infinite scrolling, it feels like if I'm not checking constantly something would get bumped and not even visible in new releases after a time.

Just a wacky setup altogether in my opinion. I stick with google play for the simple fact of adding my own music is such a great feature.

A couple things that are annoying me, this has probably been covered already. They both probably have something to do with my uploading my own music to my Google Music account...

1. When I download an album onto my phone it often uses an ass ugly low-res version of the cover art

2. Sometimes it will download duplicate tracks for albums, sometimes one or two tracks, sometimes the entire album

Any way to fix these problems?

I'm trying out the free trial right now after having used the standard version since it first started, and fuck this is fantastic. One question that googling hasn't been able to solve: when listening to a radio station of music not in my library, I can right click a song and choose "Add to My Library". What the hell does this do? Why is it any different than buying, other than it's free?

Well you can also then add it to a offline playlist.

Adding it to your library just makes it easier to find later. Like WhatRobEats said, you can also 'pin' music to your device and listen to it offline.

But again, that sounds just like what you get with buying the music from the store, which is another option when right clicking that; why would anyone opt to pay for it if it's being offered free right next to it? Is it that when the trial runs out, the music will be auto deleted? Or will I get to retain the music?

I was like :lol when I saw that Google finally updated the iOS app to support iPads natively. They sure took they time with that one.

Is anyone else getting "Could not connect to Google" when trying to upload albums? I got the new Kendrick album today and I can't add it.

edit: Wow, nevermind apparently it's on Google Music already. I didn't think to check there before buying it from iTunes. Usually new albums take a bit to get to Google. I guess maybe this changed. Awesome I'll just add it to my library that way. I'm not too salty though because I don't mind supporting the artists I really enjoy by purchasing their music outright.

Jesus this app. I've been on the lastest update for awhile. I boot up my phone and I try to play something but get "Could not play requested song." I reboot the app and then the phone. Same. Then I try everything imaginable from signing in and out, clearing the cache, wifi this and that. It wouldn't even let me play in download-only mode either! It could only play the songs I've paid and downloaded elsewhere.

Finally, after the 4th phone restart, it randomly works. But now I see that all my playlists are down a few songs. I know Google quietly removes EPs and singles in time for a new album and never tells you, but this time I see that many of the artist's EPs and singles that I've previously downloaded on my phone for offline use and added into My Library are still available...but they're randomly not in My Library anymore or in my playlists. So now I'm trying to remember what the hell got removed.

WTF Google Music? Stop removing my songs!

Ugh.

I don't know, maybe I'm being a curmudgeon, but I want the web client to look more traditional.

what's 'traditional' ?

I don't mind it personally, appreciate that content that's important (images and whatnot) have more real estate now.

edit: traditional:

not really, but you get the idea

what's 'traditional' ?

A more static and text heavy (adding, editing, creating, etc.) design over the ginormous moving pictures in my face. For my money, the web client is still lacking so many basic options to organize your library.

They took away the 5-star system for the songs as well. So if you spent a lot of time rating your songs in this manner, it's bye-bye. I understand it was a lab function, and it can go at any time, but it still stings.

Don't really mind the new design because the old one didn't really use it's screen real estate that well either. However, I'm surprised the new design still kept those scroll bars that makes it look like 90's frame websites.

Not really a fan of the new design, but then again, I wasn't a fan of the old design either.

I hate the app on my 4th gen iPad, slowest app ever made.
